From the super-flared to the super-skinny to everything in between, pretty much every style of denim is in right now! The good news? You already have most of these styles in your wardrobe. Here are some ideas for how to rock five denim trends for spring 2011!
1. Flares: Flares are back in style in a big way! In fact, the bigger the better when it comes to the size of the “bell.” Rock this exaggerated look with a jacket and some heels which will elongate your legs and look really on-trend!
Jeans: Gap (photos 1 & 3), $15
Jeans: True Religion/Jasmine Sola (photo 2), $145

1. Gap New Wide Leg Trouser Jeans, $55.60
2. American Eagle Vintage Flare Jean, $34.95
3. Express Flare Leg Stella Regular Fit Jean, $79.90
2. Skinny: Just because flares ruled the runways doesn’t mean you should throw out your skinny jeans just yet! They are the best type of jeans to wear under boots, and you can always transition them to spring by pairing ‘em with a colorful cardigan and cute pumps.
Jeans: Gap (photos 1 & 3), $44
Jeans: American Eagle (photo 2), $33

Just like J:
1. Gap Perfect Boot Jeans, $69.50
2. American Eagle Slim Boot Jean, $29.95
3. Hudson Signature Boot Cut Jeans, $187 at Shopbop
4. White: White is one of the hottest trends for spring—white dresses, white shirts and, yes, white denim. Don’t be shy about wearing these before Memorial Day—pair your white denim with a navy blazer or a heavy cardigan to take you through spring!
Jeans: Gap, $30
Just like J:
1. Gap Cropped Skinny Trouser Jeans, $59.50
2. Express Bootcut Stella Regular Fit Jean, $69.90

Loving the wide legs (of course I am keeping my skinnies as you suggest) for spring. I just found a really cute pair online at Old Navy for even less than the Gap ones ....they were 34.50 on sale for 29.50!

ReplyDeleteGreat post! I so want a pair of white or red jeans... Hmmmm! Perhaps both. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhoa girl you've got a lot of jeans! I agree these are all must haves and my favorite right now are flares i'm loving the 70s vibe!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome post! Thank you! I LOVE jeans like nobody's business! Sometimes I wonder why I even buy any other pants/skirts because I could wear jeans EVERYDAY! Love this post and all the ways to wear them, thanks!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great post! Props to you!
ReplyDeleteI really want to get a pair of flares, I have notice so many bloggers and runway shows showcasing the wider cut leg and it looks great! It took me a while to hop on board for skinny jeans, and now I live in them... I dont want to make the same mistake and wait out the flare trend until its too late.

J, I always love your color combos! Nice work! I'm loving the fact that flares are back for spring. They play up curvy hips and thighs, and they are a perfect mix of tailored and casual when paired with a blouse and blazer. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteI'm really loving all the new colored jeans this year. I've never really did a color other than black but think I'll venture into red or something fun this upcoming year. For some reason white jeans have never appealed to me. They do look adorable on you though. Thanks for the tips. I really LOVE your blog :)
ReplyDeleteI love big flare jeans! They are so Rachael Zoe inspired! LOVE your blog
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get the creamed crop jacket from? You paired it w/ the Gap Flare Jeans. I love that look!
ReplyDeleteThe one with ruffles and buttons? I bought that at H&M about 5 years ago! :-)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree Teresa! I waited too long to get on board with skinny jeans.
ReplyDeleteI seriously need you to come be my stylist! I love straight leg jeans, and I really want to get a pair of white ones, black, and grey
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!! I love all the looks you show here!!! So, you give me some ideas!
ReplyDeleteI have had a pair of flares for a few years now, does this mean I was out of style before? ;) haha. I used to wear them with heels and cute t's and vests. Thanks for the inspiration outfits, J. I love them.
ReplyDeleteI love skinnies :)
ReplyDeleteThe ones you've from GAP are great!!! The ones who wear with the dots blouse and white bag ;)
Kisses.
love these looks! i can' decide which is my favorite, though...i really like several of the skinny jeans looks!
ReplyDeleteMy closet is full of skinny jeans, one pair of flares and a few bootcuts. The one thing I have yet to try is jeans of color (grey doesnt count) So I am looking forward to spicing up my wardrobe with a pair of red, pink or yellow jeans!!
ReplyDeleteHaha, no! I had a pair of flares I've been wearing this whole time too. :-) I think the difference is that stores weren't selling them for awhile. The runway brought them back and now a few (like Gap) are selling them again!
ReplyDeleteIn the top row with the flares, where are the sequin shirt and green jacket from? I love em!
ReplyDeleteTory, the sequin shirt is by Chan Luu and I bought it at TJ Maxx. The green jacket is by Gap last fall. The good news is that everyone is selling jackets like this right now!
ReplyDeleteI really need a pair of flares now!
ReplyDeleteI love the slim jeans that have the silhouette of a skinny jean but aren't as tight. I have a pair from Levi's and Vera Bradley (Khols) and love them both!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this post you are helping us so much we need inspiration for the next season :)

J, where'd you get the polka dot top? Have a link, by any chance? =)
ReplyDeleteWhich one? The navy one I wore with red shoes is from J.Crew last fall. The white with blue polka dots I wore with an aqua cardigan is from LOFT also last fall. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love flare jeans

great outfits! love your blog :)
ReplyDeleteGreat outfits! Love the first sets the most. I haven't found a pair of flares that flatter my hips yet, any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteWhat is it about flares that you don't like on your hips? It is the rise of the jeans maybe - have you tried both a high and low rise?
ReplyDeleteGood thing I kept all my flared jeans lol.
ReplyDeleteFrom #5, the middle picture with the red jeans, that looks is sooo gorgeous. I LOVE that top and belt. Have you posted it here before? I don't remember seeing it!
I just discovered this blog -- where have I been? Love the concept and your style. And I'm so happy the flared jeans are back in style (even though I just accepted the whole skinny jean thing and realize how great they are)!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving that flares are back in style! :) Goodie!
ReplyDeleteI love the brand MEK. They're super comfy and fit so well!
You have a good memory! I haven't posted that outfit before, because I actually wound up returning the shirt (looks cute in the picture, but it was way too big). I'm hoping to find one similar though and wear it soon! :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favorite kind of jeans are skinny. I live in snowy Jackson Hole, WY and I need something I can tuck into my jeans!
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! Too late to ask where you found the white purse?
ReplyDeleteMy purse is Juicy Couture and I found it on sale at Macy's two winters ago!
ReplyDeleteHow do you find Gap jeans for $15?
ReplyDeleteThe week after Christmas!! The absolute best time of year to shop! Also check out my post on the "secrets of shopping at Banana" - Gap is owned by the same company, so all the tips apply at Gap too: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/04/todays-everyday-fashion-secrets-of.html
ReplyDeleteJ. can you tell me how you stay in great shape? Do you have any kids and if so, what advice do you have for dressing a "new body." My daughter is 10 mths old and I can't fit into my pre pregnancy clothes but I hate to go buy all new stuff and my weight loss just isn't working as fast as planned.
ReplyDeleteHi Yolanda! Here is a link to my fitness post: helps.http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2010/09/my-fitness-story.html I've never been pregnant, but I have dressed a lot of women with this same issue. I would try to get as creative as possible with anything you do have that fits - and probably buy a couple things (mostly for the bottom half) that are inexpensive and will hold you over. Jewelry can be a lifesaver too, and will fit you no matter your size! Hope this helps!
