Inspiration: This Time Tomorrow |
My recreations are usually not this literal, but it's also not very often that I have such similar pieces already in my closet! I never would've thought to put these pieces together and I'm surprised how much I like the end result. Blue jeans instead of the skirt would also work, and I'll be searching for more creative ways to wear this red plaid shirt. Would you wear plaid + leather + colorblocking together?
Leather jacket: Victoria's Secret, $257 (cheaper)
Purse: Michael Kors, Santa

Love this outfit - what a fun mix of plaid & colorblocking! The more you post pictures wearing this leather jacket, the more I'm convinced I need it :)

Super cute look! I like that you can wear plaid and make it not look like a lumberjack just by adding a girly skirt and leather jacket. Heather
ReplyDeleteOoooo! I love Krystal's style, so I am super excited to see that you are inspired by her as well. I love the look with a skirt even better than the original. Just lovely!

Love the leather jacket!!! What size did you order?
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! I am really loving the plaid being worn with fancy attire trend. So chic!
ReplyDeleteI can't say I'd ever wear that particular outfit, but you pull it off nicely. Personally, I'm not digging the skirt or the pants. I do think your outfit looks better than your inspirations. I've done this before with plaid and stripes (http://hello-gorgeous-blog.blogspot.com/2012/11/animal-print-stripes.html). Not my blog but I loved the striped shirt over plaid.
ReplyDeleteI really love how you take someone outfit as inspiration and make another outfit from what you can find! It's so creative!
ReplyDeleteNew reader/blogger! Can't wait to check out some of she other outfits!
Great pairing, I love this look.

Ohh and even though I do not comment often, I read you pretty blog daily. I loved your NY Eve looks this year.
BTW this is one of the best recreations yet. You look stunning, sexy & in charge. Amazing skirt & pumps. =)

absolutely i would wear this combo! it's fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI would never think to put these together! Express also offers the color-blocking pants http://www.express.com/stella-tuxedo-stripe-ankle-jean-legging-53870-3/control/show/3/index.pro
ReplyDeleteTres chic!!!! Love the combination. Would never have thought to put plaid, colorblocking and leather together. It looks fantastic. Plaid is definitely a theme today. I'm totally wearing it under a black sweater for my 30 for 30. If you have a chance to check out my 30 for 30 post, I would really appreciate it.

I like this a lot!!! What a great pairing!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how good that combo looks. As you said, I never would've thought all those pieces would go so well together but they blend beautifully! That skirt is amazing! I would definitely wear this look - it redefines the traditional plaid which sometimes is unappealing.

I LOVE this look. I never would have paired these pieces together either, but they work. I also like the skirt better than the pants. Great outfit! xx
ReplyDeleteI REALLY like this look, J! It's not too loud or over the top, but it's unique and goes together so well. It's also not overtly girly nor too edgy, which is the perfect combination. :)
ReplyDeleteNo offense, but I actually don't like this particular outfit at all.....just too random for me, personally. However, I love each individual piece and I'm am always so impressed how you can create your own spin on inspiration pictures! I love checking in here daily to see what you've done!
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that's missing is the pup!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this look! I'd never think to pair those pieces together but you look amazing! Definitely one of my fave looks from you :)
ReplyDeleteI love love love this! The combination is great!

I love the mixture of this outfit. It looks great! My favorite part is the contrast between the leather and plaid. I just did an outfit post with lace shorts and a leather jacket. Your blog is one of my favorites!:)

great recreation -- love that necklace on you! xo

Plaid + leather + colorblocking together??!! R.E.A.L.L.Y. neat!! I think your outfit would also look pretty with The LIMITED's (*motorcycle-sleek*) red-and-black Sheer Scott Plaid Blouse, Above, too!! With the Sheer Scott Plaid Blouse, I'd maybe wear a necklace like your simple Forever 21 Owl Pendant, as in Photo #7 in this link:

----(with the chain maybe doubled around my neck to shorten-it-a-bit for this particular outfit, though?)----because your Owl Pendant's IVORY tones would complement your white/black Colorblock Pencil Skirt; your Owl Pendant's REDDISH-RUST tones would complement a (*motorcycle sleek*) red-and-black Sheer Scott Plaid Blouse............ and your Owl Pendant's BRASS tones would also complement your Leather Motorcycle Jacket's gold-accent hardware, your purse's golden hardware; and your pumps' metallic-gold toe-cap, too!!
not my favorite look of all time but I'm not a fan of the inspiration picture either so that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteis your purse have a convertible handle? how convenient! its like 2 (or 3,4) purses in one!
I think I would wear 2 of the three styles: color blocking, plaid, and leather. I don't typically wear plaid because it tends to make my shoulders look broader, but the leather jacket over the plaid actually makes it more feminine looking.
ReplyDeletehttp://emmastyleguide.blogspot.com
LOVE the look - makes high fashion more everyday for certain. I like how you made plaid dressy yet dressed down the tuxedo-ish the vibe that the pants or skirt provides. Very unexpected and not for everyone, but certainly inspiring.
ReplyDeleteLoooove this look. You totally pull it off. I have never combined tartan, colour block and leather together but I have worn tartan and colour block together. Here is my pic of how I paired them (more of a preppy take) http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/12/fall-attire-plaid-and-pleats.html, but loving this idea. Have to try....
ReplyDeletecoverupchic.blogspot.ca
Very pretty look! I would never think to wear a plaid top like that to the office.
ReplyDeleteAlicewww.happinessatmidlife.com
They're a bit pricy right now, but you can get the leggings from Express: http://www.express.com/stella-tuxedo-stripe-ankle-jean-legging-53870-3/control/show/3/index.pro
ReplyDeleteLove this look! I love the gold accents with the pumps and the jacket! I just ordered these pumps in pink/silver from Chinese Laundry!
ReplyDeleteI'm so in love with those Chinese Laundry heels you wear!! FYI - I found them at Piper Lime & Macy's for $69! Thanks for all the great outfit inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI wore this same look the other day, but with jeans. Got my plaid shirt from Gap (similar: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=65182&vid=1&pid=245273012), though mine was red, almost exactly like yours! Love!
ReplyDeleteLove the whole look!
