I was dreaming of sunny springtime wearing this outfit around Orlando yesterday. It's been unusually warm and I wanted a way to wear my new blush jeans. I loved wearing it, but I can also appreciate that pastels aren't for everyone. (See similar pencil skirt outfit here.) Would you wear head-to-toe pastels?

I just purchased a pair of blush colored jeans and am excited to style them. I like your pastel look, although I can't wear head to toe pastels because I am so fair skinned. It washes me out unfortunately. I love your bubble necklace :) Heather
ReplyDeleteRoll up those shirt sleeves, babe! It'll do you wonders. Here's a great "how-to" from the masters of the art - - J. Crew stylists: http://blogs.babble.com/babble-voices/about-love-mara-kofoed/2012/08/30/tips-from-a-j-crew-personal-stylist/#how-to-roll-a-sleeve

This might be my favorite outfit of yours of all time - you look absolutely darling! You were made to wear pastels apparently!
ReplyDeleteI wear pastels regularly!
ReplyDeleteI always never know how to wear crew necked cardigans with button downs. I think it does this awkward thing that it seems like it's doing here with the point of the cardigan neckline making a weird thing and then draping in a weird way. Maybe it's just me.
I love pastels, great outfit.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but this reminds me of Easter! I think the tan accents in the inspiration photo balance it out a bit more. I like the look, but maybe more for April/May.

You rock this outfit! I love it! I'm not sure if I could do pastels head to toe on myself, but I certainly love them for individual pieces. I'm hoping the pastel skinnies are still in style when I get back to my pre pregnancy body! They're adorable and so fun!
ReplyDeleteAwesome outfit, love pastels! ♥

Yes!!! Definitely do wear pastels - they give off a certain vibe of elegance and class. And they're so "clean" looking!

LOVE this outfit....and I'm in love with pastels!! I have a mint cardigan and chambray shirt.....now I'm on the hunt for blush pink (my fave colour!) jeans!!! Thanks for being an attainable inspiration for me!!
ReplyDeleteI love pastels, but they do not love me :( I like how the inspiration picture balances out the pastels with the neutral tan, but I LOVE your necklace.
ReplyDeleteLoving the pastels! This outfit makes me feel like spring is right around the corner!
ReplyDeleteOf course I would wear head to toe pastels! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI love the jeans!!! So cute!!!

LOVE this look, and it's something I'd absolutely wear! I'd never think of wearing all pastels, but now I'm going to hunt in my closet and pull out all the pastels :) Great inspiration, J!

I love pastels but I don't know if I would wear it head to toe. You look gorgeous. I feel like I would end up looking like an Easter egg. Pastels are very big for Spring.

Looks cute on you but I thinks it's slightly easter eggy :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute outfit and making me crave spring. Love how you added the necklace.
ReplyDeleteI love easter eggs!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI love the inspiration photo too, and wish I had a purse that color. Definitely proud at how inexpensive my version is though! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhy not just wear the outfit in April/May then, LOL? Magazines are already showing us clothes for next fall at this point, just trying to get ahead of the game chica! I love the inspiration photo too, and wish I had a purse that tan color. Definitely proud at how inexpensive my version is though! :-)
ReplyDeleteI can't say I myself would wear head to toe pastel but it looks very cheery on you :)

Pastels remind me of my Easter dress/hat/gloves/ruffle socks for church when I was little. I love those blush jeans, but would probably go darker on top. I can't wait for Spring!
ReplyDeleteI have that same inspiration photo saved on my computer -- you look great! xo

somewhat random question... I saw the post on how you organize your closet, but how do you organize your sweaters? Do you keep them in drawers, or hang them? I have so many and I've run out of room.. not sure what to do and they stretch out when I put them on hangers.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually going through the process of organizing my closet right now and trying to figure out if I want to change how I store my sweaters. I hang all of the cardigans and thinner sweaters, but then I have the chunky ones folded on the top shelf in my closet. Which only stays organized during the summer months when I don't need them, otherwise it looks pretty messy so would love to find another solution without storing them in a dresser! I'm going to do a video tour of my new closet soon so I'll let you know what I figure out.
ReplyDeletethis is such an adorable outfit
ReplyDeleteI would love to wear that much pastel but it would look really bad with my skin tone. I can only pull off one piece of pastel - and only if I pair it with more vibrant colors.
ReplyDeleteSo great! I checked over your link. I want to try those tips.
ReplyDeleteLike the idea of using a lot of pastels, but sometimes it looks like it will wash your face out and look pale just like the colors. I think it's good to add something that will make it less pastel like atlantic pacific's huge circle scarf.

Hi J, I have been wanting colored jeans, but in stores, they are only available in regular lengths. What could I find petite colored jeans? I'm 5" 3.5'. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit and your blog! I am going travelling from the Midwest to Orlando next week and trying to figure out what to pack in terms of color. I hear color is in year-round in Florida, whereas we tend to go toward darker colors in winter here. Is this the type of outfit everyone is wearing? Should I pack more colorful things, or not worry about it? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have been redoing my closets and struggled with the same thing.
ReplyDeleteI never cared for the hanging shelf units, however I found a pretty one and thought I would try it.
It works great for sweaters as you can stack them in the hanging shelves but they don't get too messy as there are several compartments. It holds many and I have stored smaller clutches and bags on the bottom shelf for easy access.
In the summer my sweaters will cycle back to the top shelf and that unit can just fold down and store with them. Unless I find another helpful use with summer clothes.
Hey J, I'm a recent college graduate and I just got an internship - yippy! But I need advice. I've been searching through all your outfits and definitely got some inspiration but I just wanted to ask you directly. What is business appropriate for a 21 year old? I spent all day yesterday and today trying on pencil skirts and other things, but the majority of the time clothing in the women's department runs big and doesn't fit properly or I feel uncomfortable like I'm wearing my mothers clothing. Can I dress appropriately without shopping in the women's department?
ReplyDeleteSo very excited for pastels to be back this spring! And I don't know why I never thought to pair my big statement necklace with pink denim-- so cute!

Seeing your recent photos of pastels and bright colors is making me SO jealous for warm weather! (Could you possibly send a little sun up north?) It's funny how location affects style seasons. I'm still shopping for cute snow boots and scarves, but I'll definitely keep this outfit in mind come May!
ReplyDeleteAh! I love both of your blogs!! This outfit is absolutely perfect and is making me wish for the spring to come!

Too Easter egg. Sorry J!
ReplyDeleteI love it!

After I posted this question, I did some research myself and found some advice on hanging sweaters so they don't stretch out/get hanger marks:
ReplyDeletehttp://organized31.blogspot.com/2012/10/best-way-to-hang-up-your-sweaters.html
http://www.areal-lifehousewife.com/2012/07/how-to-fold-sweater-to-avoid-hanger.html/
and I'm also considering these even though it looks like they'll take up a lot of space:
http://www.alterationsneeded.com/2010/10/how-to-hang-sweaters-in-closet.html
The neatest way is my dresser drawers, but I don't have enough room. Those hanging shelve units are nice and all but as soon as I grab one or two sweaters, it looks like a mess. I haven't gotten around to trying the above tutorials because I'm out of town, but I'm curious to see how practical they really are.
I agree, you did a great job with finding similar pieces within a good price range! I guess when you look outside and still see snow, its hard to imagine spring outfits!
ReplyDeleteLove the pastels :)

ReplyDeleteI love this J! I might have to invest in a light pink bubble neck now to add to my other 4!! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt's a very personal choice how much A-P wanted to spend on her outfit. First you use her as inspiration and then you insinuate she spent too much. What gives?!?
ReplyDeleteThe topic of this blog is getting the look for less. It's not a judgement, it's math.
