Today's Everyday Fashion: Hamburglar

Inspiration: FabSugar

I love this striped shirt, but am scared of looking like the Hamburglar in it, so neutrals are the way to go! I especially love pairing black pieces with brown, so her idea of a trench coat and brown belt was right up my alley. How would you wear these stripes? (See another way I wore it with turquoise and camel here.)

Trench: New York & Co, $50 (old)
Shirt: c/o Francesca's, $34 (similar, similar, similar)
Jeans: Vigoss c/o Nordstrom Rack, $40
Necklace: Banana, old
Belt: H&M, $20
Purse: Emma Fox c/o Ross, $60 (same)
Pumps: c/o Nine West, $62 (similar, similar)
Rings: My Stella & Dot website $69 and $39
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot website $59 and $59 and $79 and $79

  5. Ha ha! I usually get the "jailbird" comment when I wear b&w stripes. I like the way you styled the top.  My favorite way to wear b&w stripes is with color (red, cobalt blue, green).

  6. I once wore a similar shirt with red capris and immediately started singing 'yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me."

I agree with how you wore it. The jacket, jeans, purse and shoes are a perfect platform to allow the shirt to shine without screaming.  :D

  9. I love your title!  I did not think of the hamburglar at all when I saw this outfit ...just a super cute outfit that I would love to wear.  I love trench coats but somehow they look so awful on me.

  14. My husband calls me that when I wear my black and white striped shirt with my red pants but I don't care!  I love the way it looks.

  15. I think this look is perfect in every way. I would also try red pants for a different look.

  20. Love it!!! But I think the necklace it's just a little bit distracting...

  21. bahahaha!! I was cracking up at the hamburgular comment! hilarious! i like the outfit a lot...do you normally wear the trench coat all day when you wear it or is it more for outerwear purposes?

    ReplyDelete
  22. I haven't worn the trench in awhile, but I love wearing it on days when I know I will be outside a lot (shopping in the city, for example), because I love the way they look! I tie mine in the back so it stays open.

  23. Well, I'm still in skinnies but at least they are regular denim! :-)

  24. I completely respect your opinion! In my brain, this look is way too boring without the necklace. She's got a cute hat in her look, so I did a necklace instead.

  25. hahah so funny you posted this, as i went out last weekend and the thick stripes trend was out in full force. There was a girl wearing black and white striped pants (yikes), blazers, you name it. That's a bit too much for me, but the way you styled it is exactly my route. My striped tees are a bit thinner stripes, but i love wearing them with my anorak jacket and skinnies.

  26. Your version is way better than the inspiration.  Better color combos.

  30. I really like this outfit J. Black and brown is something I used to (and still kind of do) shy away from but I love the cognac accessories with the black stripes. It's a look I will definitely recreate.

  31. I love the hamburglar! I'm definitely stealing this idea!

  32. I started cracking up when I read this post, although the hamburglar was not the first thing on my mind when I saw your outfit. I always love a good striped shirt.

  33. my husband always calls me the Hamburglar when I wear striped shirts. I tell him I am actually a gondolier :)

  34. Nothing about your look screams "ravenous hamburger bandit" to me! In fact, it's one of my favorite outfits you have posted.

  35. Hi J! Love the blog... its a daily read for me! I also live in Orlando and as you know, sometimes our weather is a little funky, like it being pretty "cold" for us this holiday. For cool days I LOVE a good pair of jeans and like the look of the ones in this post. I have found the most success with Seven for All Mankind and  True Religion jeans but dont always want to spend that much. Right now I am on the hunt for a great pair of skinnies, what brands do you suggest that wont break the bank??

    ReplyDelete
  36. Thanks Lisa! My favorite inexpensive brands are Gap and American Eagle. I love all the discount stores in Orlando though - NM Last Call and Nordstrom Rack being two good ones for denim!

  37. Love, love, love this look! :)

  38. Try the wider cuffs for your skinnies J, like on the inspiration photo. They would look cute on you!
Also, I'm making a request of all my favorite bloggers to please try an outfit with a men's tie this week. Hope you will participate.

  39. I'm actually a big fan of pairing a shirt like this with bright pants... like cobalt blue or teal (J.Crew's cafe capris are perfect for this)!  Would love to see you give it a try sometime ;)

  40. So the title of this post really made me laugh out loud.I think you need the hat and bandana!
