While looking for ways to wear my new sequin cardigan, I stumbled upon this picture - how great does she look?! As you know, I'm all about using inspiration but also adapting it to work for my own closet and body type, and in this case a white collared shirt was too busy on my frame. I encourage you guys to do the same with outfits I post everyday - make them work for you by changing a pencil skirt an a-line, for example. I love the end result of both outfits above. Would you wear sequins + army pants?
ps. I'm sporting my one, big Christmas present this year! I explored black handbag options in this post, but Santa wound up bringing me this buttery-soft Michael Kors crossbody that I absolutely love.

I love Zara and your pants!!! This is a great look!
ReplyDeleteI think it may have looked better if the pants were just military green instead of the camo but overall the look is cute! I am enjoying reading your blog, happy new year and cheers to 2013!

I am not a fan of camo (on me) but I am a HUGE fan of mixing hard (military) and soft (sequins). Same reason I love dresses with boots. So, yes, I will be keeping this idea in mind.
ReplyDeleteHaven't yet invested in a pair - but you make it tempting! Especially seeing how you can mix them up with sparkle. Insta-femininity.
ReplyDeleteWish I had a Zara nearby to try some of these babies on. Why do all your pants fit you so perfectly!? I always run to The Limited after seeing your posts, but can never get the same fit. You're a lucky gal!
Also loving the pale pink & olive green combo. Two of my favorite colors combined into a really balanced look.
Happy new year!

I too, like the soft/hard together. What do you mean by "a white collared shirt was too busy on my frame"? Because you are thin, as you aren't short? I'm curious as I am only 5 ft tall. Should I be keeping away from collars? I know to avoid alot of print because of being short. You should do an article on body type and what to wear....... ya..... Steph
ReplyDeleteI'm not usually a big fan of camo but it really is amazing to see how many outfits you've been able to use with those pants!

I saw that bag Santa brought you as I was shopping for my own Christmas present a few weeks ago. It's gorgeous! This is the one I wound up getting: http://www.michaelkors.com/p/MICHAEL-Michael-Kors-MICHAEL-Michael-Kors-Medium-Tristan-Satchel/prod16900004/ and I'm obsessed. The color is much darker/richer in real life, and the chain is only on one handle (the other handle is plain leather). Anyway, just thought I'd share...glad Santa was so generous to you this year :)
ReplyDeleteUmm yes yes and yes. I love the way this looks! I think the fact that the cardigan isn't sparkly all over makes it work together-- it's just a touch, which makes it perfect!

ohhhhhh i LOVE this outfit, j!! just stunning. seriously stunning.
ReplyDeleteCute! I love that MK bag too!
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of ideas with the sweater coming up!
ReplyDeleteI tried a white collared shirt first and it looked awful on me. I chalked it up to being a body type thing (my lack of any cleavage), BUT on second thought it might be the busy print on my pants vs. her plain green pants. There is no formula unfortunately though - it's all about trial and error and figuring out what works on your body!
ReplyDeleteI love love loveee this outfit!! So perfect : )

Love the inspiration! Sparkles + camo is pretty awesome :)
ReplyDeleteThose camo pants fit you like a glove! I usually don't look twice at camo - especially pants but you make them look great! I also love your gift from Santa :)
ReplyDeleteGreat outfit. Love the sequin top with the camo pants.

This is really cute! Would have never thought it.
ReplyDeleteI love this combo, and I think you both look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLove this combo. I fell in love with this sweater the first time you wore it/showed it- and was excited to see how you'd style it next!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

I love the inspiration and your take on the sequins! It's funny bc I have similar pieces to complete both looks and did not even think of this combo! Thanks for expanding my wardrobe with existing pieces!!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the mix of soft and hard in this outfit. And congrats on the new bag! Can't wait to see it more!!

I love this look. I would never think to pair the two together but have to give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration :)

J, what is the MJR sales? I google it and nothing comes up and I see you reference it many times
ReplyDeleteI like the look, I think I like the inspiration picture's solid pants a bit more. Maybe the casualness of the camo vs. the formalness of the sequins is too much of a stretch for me. But part of the reason to follow your posts is for new inspiration! Thanks as always!
ReplyDeleteOh yea! I'm so glad you posted a more casual way to wear this sweater since I've been thinking about it! I don't have camo jeans but I think it would look good with a solid like the inspiration pic. Actually I have some purple skinnies that i think might look cute! Eek! Thanks for the idea!!!
ReplyDeleteI am totally in love with this outfit. I love the pink sparkly sweater along with camos. How fun and still very girly!
ReplyDeleteTotally adorable ourfit! I also looked at that bag about a month ago and LOVED the way it looked on me and hung. However, I was not sure about the flap and if that would drive me crazy. How is it working for you? The MK purse salon said it was their HOTTEST selling bag. :)
ReplyDeleteSo far I love the purse! The flap is a bit cumbersome - but what I love how safe my stuff is. My brown purse I always carry has a shorter flap, that winds up getting tucked down in the purse, so my purse is technically open a lot. That won't ever happen with this purse!
ReplyDeleteI love this look. Plus, I just scored the Limited cardi for $12! -Beth
ReplyDeleteLove the cardigan and bag!
