Today's Everyday Fashion: Coincidence

People often ask me if I buy clothes solely for the purpose of re-creating inspiration photos, and the answer is definitely no! I sometimes use what inspires me to create a shopping list - so if I notice I have 20 photos saved with mint jeans, then I will add mint jeans to my shopping list. But I don't buy something just so I can re-create one photo. I've had this inspiration saved for over a year, and when I looked at it this week I realized by coincidence that I had all the (almost exact) pieces to re-create it. I'm loving the end result, and I'm excited to have another way to wear this polka dot shirt (see first outfit here). Have you ever spotted an outfit and realized you had all the pieces already in your closet?

  1. I love it. And I love seeing that the same top and jeans can look so different, (from your previous spot top post) with a different jacket and accessories. Wow! I fonly I had your style creativity!
I'd love to see more posts like this, where you wear the same outfit, just vary the accessories :-)

  3. I love when I can put together and outfit and I feel like it "works"! And this one does!  Polka dots have become an almost pattern neutral for me.  I only have a couple of pieces, and they are in neutral colors, but the actual pattern seems to go with almost anything even other patterns!

  6. Your jeans are such a flattering and great fit!  The jeans, belt, and purse really pull the whole look together.  I notice when I am pinning inspiration photos, that I tend to pin things that I have all or the majority of all the pieces so I can remember to re-create later.  Heather

  8. I think this is my favorite outfit you have posted so far! It looks like an outfit that I could/would actually wear. And, the colors are amazing! So comfy looking for a perfect fall outfit.

  9. Love your ensemble. Finding that you have all the pieces to recreate an inspiration is always a bonus. :)

Recently, I was in Club Monaco and one of the Sale Associates was wearing an ensemble, which I had all the pieces for but never wore them the way she did.  I just had to tell her how much I admired her outfit and that I intended to recreate it...she was flattered.

  10. I like your outfit better, because the jacket is more tailored.  Also, I've been wanting that purple polka dotted shirt for over a month now.  I can't find one like it anywhere.  I'd settle for one in mustard color, too.  I wish I could find one!

  13. It's so nice to see you in a different silhouette for a change. Don't get me wrong, you look great in skinny jeans. But this post has reaffirmed my belief that bootcuts are SO much more flattering.

  16. I've had these jeans for about 5 years and they will forever be my favorites!! Skinnies have a huge advantage though - you can wear any size heel with them, so flats throughout the day and switch to heels at night if you want. You can't do the same with bootcuts, so unfortunately it's not practical to wear them that much! :-(
