One Gossip Girl look, three ways to interpret it. I am a huge fan of this green-yellow-polka dots combination, and I also like the look of dark tights (mine are navy) with a yellow pump. I felt so inspired that I decided to have a little fun in my closet! What I love about the results is that it's not just three different looks, but it's also showing you how to get more versatility out of a dress. Not only can you wear a cardigan over it, but you can also put a long sleeve blouse under it, or a blouse over it to wear and as a skirt. Which way would you wear it?

ReplyDeleteLove the dress color! I saw one like this at Target that came with a belt, on sale for $22.99 -- I might have to go back and get it!
ReplyDeleteI love the first and third combinations. That mustard color is so pretty.
ReplyDeleteThe yellow with the green really pops! I love the 1st and 2nd looks!

You are the queen of taking a look and interpreting it for us in the real world (with real world budgets). While I'm not sure I could do the black tights with yellow shoes, especially in an office environment, I love the 3rd look wih the blouse belted over the green dress.

Never have I thought to wear a dress as a skirt, brilliant! You just expanded my wardrobe for FREE!
ReplyDeleteI like this color combination I love the first and 3rd look!
ReplyDeleteI like the look on the right! The blouse over the dress with the belt has the most streamlined silhouette!
ReplyDeleteI am really love that emerald dress! Such a gorgeous color. I love that you create these looks with pieces that 'real' people can afford! Thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteLove Gossip Girl fashions! Even if the characters are much younger than me ;) My favorite look is the first one.
ReplyDeleteI bought my first emerald shirt after I saw you wear it a few weeks back. Got is at Talbots on sale. They were closing down the store! I love 1 and 3. Now I have to work on getting a dress in this color! thanks for always sharing and inspiring!

All of your variations loom great!! My favorite is the "skirt" option! I definitely have to try that.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Leigh! ps. Tights are navy! (You can tell if you look closely.) I personally think black would be too much of a contrast.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rachel! :-)
ReplyDeleteAre you referring to the Target dress in my post, or a different one?
ReplyDeleteLOVE the look with the shirt over the dress and belt on top. I mean, I like them all, but I love that one!
ReplyDeleteYou are so great at mixing up outfits! I need to work on using dresses for this purpose as well! I absolutely love that Blair inspiration look and to be honest, without it, I wouldn't have thought bright shoes with tights could look so cute! Love your first and third looks especially!
ReplyDeletelove the heels and the green/yellow, but I wouldn't wear the belt with #1 or #2 - your figure doesn't need it!
ReplyDeleteThe third look is def my favorite. Loving your style posts lately!
ReplyDeleteyou are so adorable girl! i love this idea of taking a great outfit and recreating it in three different ways! love!

ReplyDeletelove the last one. Great outfits, i'm inspired!
ReplyDeleteLove the green and gold - especially since I'm a Packers fan!

I particularly love outfit #3!! As in your May 20, 2011, blogpost, "6 Clothing Items You Can Repurpose Now"............ http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/05/6-clothing-items-you-can-repurpose-now.html............ where you (so *skillfully*!!) wrote two segments, "Wear a dress as a shirt"; and "Wear a dress as a skirt," I see that the two dresses you wore there as a SKIRT were also solid colors, (i.e., black and pale pink), as is your emerald dress, Above.
ReplyDeleteI personally wonder if, say, using a floral-PRINT sundress as a skirt, with a SOLID-color shirt (over it) might also work? I have a low-cut, flowy-skirted, jersey-knit cotton sundress in a beautiful, deep-*rainbow*-colored, "Monet-like" (IMPRESSIONISTIC) print. The "greenery" background, (for all the deep-rainbow floral colors), is emerald green and also deep olive green; so----(just as an experiment)----I might try to find a deep olive green top, of some sort; and try it *over* the sundress; then (IF that works!!), I'll work on some type of accessories, too, to wear now, or early this Spring.
You really love those shoes. That's good because I do too!

I especially like the first and the last ones - lovely combinations of color and great idea with wearing the shirt over the dress <3
