Cigarette is fake *whew* |
Last night I co-hosted a Mad Men themed holiday party and this is what I wore! I went for full costume mode, and ordered this dress and brooch (an exact replica of Joan's!) specifically for the party. Add a bouffant, some serious eyeliner and a fake cigarette and I was in full character. It was a great night!! Are you a Mad Men fan? What's your favorite theme for a party?
Dress: c/o Shabby Apple, $92 ("Moon River" under the All that Jazz section. This dress runs big, I ordered an XS.)
Belt: Urban Outfitters, $20
Shoes: Restricted from Endless, $40
Vintage starburst brooch: c/o Catherine Nicole, $30
Headband and fake cigarette: borrowed
Eat your heart out, Don Draper. |
Love, love, love this! You all look fantastic and definitely nailed the Mad Men theme head to toe. I love the S/A dress on you. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the look! You nailed it, and what a fun theme for a holiday party! Ok, now this look is such a great non-costume look too. I love how you styled your hair, and the eyeliner looks fabulous too. Great job!

You look amazing! I actually really like your hair like that even if it weren't a party (but then who's got time to do that much backcombing in the morning!?). Wishing one of my xmas parties was MadMen themed now :(
ReplyDeleteSuch a great theme for a holiday party! I'm LOVING your dress!

Love it! So much better than those tacky sweater parties I keep getting invited to!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea! Love that dress!
ReplyDeleteI really want to hold a "Business Men and Housewives" party... Sort of sexist, but all in the name of a good time. (Plus, I have some really good outfits!)
ReplyDeleteI absolute LOVE this dress on you!!!!

ReplyDeleteLove that dress!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Mad Men and the style of the '60s. I love your blog and recently started one of my own: http://libraryoflagniappe.blogspot.com/ and listed your blog in my List of Favorite Blogs!
ReplyDeleteAnd both your thin, leopard belt and cognac heels............ (i.e., worn with your little Deep-Charcoal-Grey Dress With 4 Graduated Ruffles And Cap Sleeves, which will probably be in style ~ f.o.r.e.v.e.r. ~!!)............ simply make your dress - **S.I.Z.Z.L.E.** - J!!
ReplyDeleteHow, pray tell, can ONE little dress be so simple, yet almost a work of Fashion Art; and also............ so modest, yet so genuinely head-turningly sexy??!! (As you've noted in your "Q&A with J," you grew up in Kansas, but now in your Mad Men outfit, you really could be a *movie star*, too, who's originally from Kansas----you just looked *so nice* for your Holiday Party this past Saturday night, Jeanette!!)
You look ABSOLUTELY AMAZING in your Mad Men Outfit and I love every single detail of it. That dress is Fabulous and I love the really dark forest green. The style of it is so cool too. Love your use of the brooch, the 2011 use of a skinny leopard belt and your amazing hairdo. Also, I must say that last photo looks like it was taken from a scene of "Mad Men" itself.
ReplyDeleteP.S. On an unrelated note I want to make sure you read a comment I left at a May blog post about an outfit you wore for a First Communion at a Catholic Church. I am going to paste my response in its entirety because since I am a TRUE FAN of yours I'd love for you to read my opinion and I think since you run a very successful Fashion Blog, it will help you further be successful in your blog, especially when it comes to your readers. So, in the post above this, I am reposting what I wrote on that blog, earlier, today.
Have a Lovely Warm December in Florida, J and continue to bring amazing, affordable fashion to us all!!
