Today's Everyday Fashion: The Souvenir

The most exciting thing about today's outfit (other than the fact that I found yet another way to wear my favorite color combo - cobalt and cognac!) is the scarf. It has a special place in my heart because I bought it on my recent trip to Europe. I purchased it from a street vendor in Rome, which is not usually the best place to find high fashion (unless it's fake designer purses you are after), but this scarf was just too perfect to pass up. I wasn't sure I would even wear it, but as soon as I saw this inspiration photo I was inspired to pull it out and give it a go. What's your favorite souvenir that you've picked up on a trip?

  1. I have a scarf that I bought for £2 at some random street stand in Edinburgh, Scotland. It's my favorite scarf and gets worn way more than my other ones. I love random things you pick up on travels, especially at little shops because they're usually cheap and so different than things you can get at home.

  3. J! I love this outfit! I could totally see myself in this! OK I know its tacky, and totally 80's, but my husband I always buy hard rock shirts where ever we go. We basically just wear them to workout and to bed, but always remember the trip when we have them on. Plus we match :)

  5. This is a great color combo.  No matter where you buy scarves, they are such a fun addition to any outfit.  Scarves can be worn so many ways too (belted, in your hair, as an add on to your handbag).  Unfortunately, I don't travel very often so I don't get to collect souviners :(   Heather

  13. From experience here's my two cents for shopping in Rome and Florence.  I had very good luck buying scarves from street vendors in Rome and at the open market in Florence and I love each one of them.  I also bought a real leather handbag at the open market in Florence that I love.  But I want to warn your readers in buying items, especially knock off designer handbag,s from from young kids selling on the streets.  I was bugged by a young teenage boy while eating near the Vatican to buy a fake Prada.  I did talk him down to 15 euros ($25.00).  Big mistake, although the workmanship on the outside was ok, the inside fell apart.  On the light side, my sis thought I should return it.  :)  Kathy H

  19. You look soooo stylishly *chic and CONTINENTAL*, J, wearing your souvenir scarf from Rome----and what an *ARTISTICALLY* beautiful purchase the scarf was, too!!    Your cognac shoes and purse really make the burnt orange and gold colors in your scarf "pop";  and it's design evokes............ a brilliant sunset over the (blue-blue-*blue*) Mediterranean Sea!!

    With your originally
    being from Kansas,
'bet the words, "Toto," (or, for you, actually
Bella!!), "I've a feeling we're not in Kansas any more"............ might have *briefly* crossed your mind, i.e., when you were in Rome during your recent, wonderfully-memorable trip to Europe!!

  20. Yay for colbalt and cognac! I just purchased a pair of colbalt skinnies and can't wait to wear them and will def try this color combo! Your scarf looks so cute with it too! Most of my purchases in London are my favorite stuff, but one of my favorite things is this black/white scarf that has this lace pattern- I got it a few years back and it's so perfect and matches everything. I originally bought it as a Christmas present for a friend, but ended up keeping it for myself and I'm so glad!

    and

My hubby and I take a trip somewhere every year for our anniversary. While there we find a store to buy a bottle of champagne. The bottle comes home with us as a souvenir and another trophy for another year of life together!
