Today's Everyday Fashion: Sequins Obsessed
I feel a bit like a broken record saying this, but I am sequins-obsessed. Always have been (the princess costume my mom made me as a 5-year-old was covered in them) and I'm starting to think that I always will be. Sequins are supposedly back in style, but I wonder - did they ever really leave? Because I love 'em. They have such a luxe feel to them, and I am a huge fan of anything with texture (herringbone, ruffles, ruching, etc.). I'm wearing my latest sequin purchase - this maroon/wine color top from MJR Sales with black skinny jeans out tonight. Tell me - are you also sequins obsessed? Are sequins a new trend for you, or have you been wearing them forever like me?

ooh this would be a perfect new years outfit!
ReplyDeleteI am also sequin obsessed! But it wasn't always the case. I took up ballroom dancing about 4 years ago. Before that, I wouldn't be caught dead in anythting that sparkles. Now, I can't get enough. It was all the beautiful stoned and sequined ballroom gowns that made me a convert.
ReplyDeleteGEORGEUS top!!! :D Love the color, love the type of the top! You look awesome! Great look for the night out!
ReplyDeleteWe did a sequined top remix not too long ago. We used to think sequins were for only the holidays or parties, but now we realized they can be worn for day too. Our favorite way is with a leather jacket, blazer, or with a denim shirt. You look awesome and ready for a night on the town!

I am sequin obsessed too. It's from my mom who is WAY more "girly" than I am . I use sequins to bling up my more...urban...feeling wardrobe. I told a friend the other day I am just not a traditional girly girl but I DO like to be feminine and sequins and bling help me get there.
ReplyDeleteLove! I'm newly into the trend and just bought a navy blue sequined sleeveless top. I'm just not sure what color bottoms to wear with it. Dark blue skinny jeans don't seem right...any suggestions?
ReplyDeleteEmily, white skinny jeans would look great in the summer, but how about black jeans like I have on for winter? I love wearing black and navy together a la this recent look: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/10/todays-everyday-fashion-black-pants-era.html
ReplyDeleteAwesome! That was pretty much my thinking, too. :) Looks like I'll be investing in some black jeans!
ReplyDeleteLooking very holiday ready!! I LOVE that top!! I haven't seen many red sequined tops, and this one is great!

I've recently been obsessed with sequin skirts and shorts!
ReplyDeletePretty sure I need to invest in a sequined dress for the holiday occasions :)

I like how that little vertical band of sequins, (i.e., right at the bustline on your maroon/wine-color sequined top)............ and the soft, subtle draping, which flares out (from the bottom of that band) on both sides, down-to the hem............ form a very elegant BOW. If you look closely, the drape of your necklace also exactly "mirrors"----(i.e., in reverse)----the drape of your top, too!!
ReplyDelete'One of the prettiest tops around, and that COLOR is............ just *f.a.b.u.l.o.u.s.* on you, J!!
I love sequins myself! I have 3 tops so far and am looking to add more to the collection...:) I love the color of his top...very different than what I have seen in the stores. I have my eye on a navy blue one at Kohl's.
ReplyDeletethat's a great outfit for a night out... esp now that you're single.
ReplyDeleteHa, perfect timing, I just ordered this red sequin shirt yesterday! (The site calls it a dress, but on me it would definitely be a shirt!)

Thanks Sally! I had to laugh a chuckle a little because I honestly can't imagine being single or not single having an effect on how I dress. Would never even occur to me. :-)
ReplyDeleteOhh you are ready to go to a Holiday party!! Love that wine color with the sequins-- kind of an unusual combo! I'm not that big into sequins but I did just a buy a sequin covered dress for NYE!!!
