Today's Everyday Fashion: Dog Tired
Excuse me while I deviate from fashion talk for a moment for a brief "dear diary" entry: I am dog tired. In the past nine weeks, I have been out of town for seven of them. The other two, I was moving. I haven't had my "routine" (eating/sleeping/working out) since August, haven't watched TV since August, and haven't answered my email since August (sorry if you are waiting to hear from me!! I promise I will write you back). I'm definitely not complaining - I love to travel and feel blessed to have all of those experiences. I'm just so tired. I don't have any travel planned in the next couple weeks and I can't wait to finally answer those emails!! And unpack from moving and do a million other things. Have you ever been out of your routine for a long period of time? How did you cope?
About the outfit: today's look is not all that similar to my inspiration photo but I wanted to include it for two reasons - I like the summer/casual vibe of her look and it gives another idea for wearing a printed skirt. And while the photo is not that similar, it did actually spark the idea for my outfit. I like sharing my creative process with you guys even if my outfit winds up very different. :-)

Traveling is so exhausting! I am a creature of routine, so if my routine gets out of whack it is so hard to get back to normal. It sounds like you need some R&R! You look great though. I love the printed skirt and your combo of blue and black. Heather
ReplyDeleteI've been out of town every weekend too and I work a 50 hour work week every week. I'm dying!! Love the outfit. xo
ReplyDeleteHang in there chica!! I feel like I'm dying too. "This too shall pass.. " :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally feelin' you! I smiled when I read the title because I am dog tired because I got a dog... and I moved. New puppy combined with moving/packing is hard. And I haven't worked out for a month or so also! Its hard going from regularly working out to nothing, especially hard on my mood :) I'm sure you'll feel better once you get to recharge a bit, good luck!
ReplyDeleteNew puppies are so hard!! Can't even imagine combining that with moving. Thankfully my dog is almost 2 so she adjusted to the new place really quickly. Hang in there and I hope you get your routine back soon!
ReplyDeleteFor being as tired as you are, you look fantastic! I doubt you wore it for this reason, but I'll usually wear something eye-catching so as to draw attention away from the gigantic bags under my eyes.

Terri, I love your approach! I'm not wearing this today (this isn't a personal style blog) and I took the photo last week when I was feeling rested. Today I'm in pjs and def have some big circles under my eyes though lol. ;-)
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! I wish you lived in NY so I can see what your cute outfits would be for this type of weather we're having.......
ReplyDeleteI have a ton posted from last year and plan to do more winter looks this winter! A couple are coming up this week. Stay tuned.
ReplyDeletelove that skirt!
ReplyDeleteI totally get you! I work in remote locations in Australia and have to travel most weeks - I have no routine and it drives me up the wall especially when it comes to proper eating, exercise and sleep. I try and do my best on the road in terms of eating (suitcase always weighs a ton from tinned fish and protien powder!)
I guess all you can do is take a deep breathe and be kind to yourself...
I absolutely love this blue, you nailed this inspiration photo to say the least.
ReplyDeleteI rummaged through your site and enjoyed reading, feel free to swing by mine and follow if you like.

I want to see the new closet wants it's unpacked.
ReplyDeleteThat's supposed to be once it's unpacked.
ReplyDeleteA) After periodically flying through 4 airports, "going"............ i.e., to reach a destination that has a harsher climate/poor air quality............ and, (a stressful week later!!), "back" the same way, I often feel absolutely physically and emotionally *Z.O.N.K.E.D.*!! What then seems to help me the most are, (in order of importance), these #5 things:
ReplyDelete1) Going to bed as early----(as I FEASIBLY can, that is)----on my first couple of days back; and very "consciously" trying TO unwind and relax before I fall asleep.
2) Concentrating on eating really "healthy," HIGH-ROUGHAGE foods such as vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, whole grain breads, etc., (i.e., particularly during the first week AFTER my trip).
3) "Moisturizing on the INSIDE" by drinking *lots* of water; but not, (as a caution!!), over-hydrating myself by drinking TOO much water. (I additionally drink any kind of hot tea----particularly Earl Grey Tea and Peppermint Tea----simply because tea reminds me of my grandmother; and also because hot tea is just so-darn-*soothing*, too!!)
4) "Moisturizing on the OUTSIDE" by taking a nice, warm shower with a moisturizing soap like Dove Sensitive Skin Unscented; and also by giving myself an exfoliating facial----(i.e., with a mixture of brewed tea bag leaves and lotion)----IN the shower, too, (*ahhhhhhh*............).
5) Walking in the little city park out back; (purposefully) taking in a handful of deep, *lung-inflating* breaths; listening to the gentle sound of the wind blowing through the aspen trees; and just watching the pretty aspen leaves quivering in the wind, (*ahhhhhhh* AGAIN!!............).
B) I really like how you styled your printed skirt, (Above), J ............ the curved hemline is very pretty, too!!
I love all of these suggestions, thank you Rosanna! :-) I need to take it easy this week to recover and get some things done!!
ReplyDeleteI plan on doing a new/updated closet post once my closet is organized! I'm guessing it will be a couple months!
ReplyDeleteYes, this has happened to me and it probably will again. When it does I usually take some time to visit my favorite spa/getaway to rejuvenate. It always helps.
ReplyDeleteI get in the most comfiest close, drink my favorite hot cup of tea, take a deep breath, and read away . . . Even for 10 minutes before bed, works every time. Oh, and I definitely think about the day it will be done with ;]
