Today's Everyday Fashion: New Hair






































If fashion is my strong point, then doing hair is my absolute weakness. My hair is crazy thick, slightly wavy and I have no idea how to manage it. There, I said it. (acknowledgement is the first step, yes?) I like to reach for the stars in most areas of my life, but when it comes to hair, I pretty much do the bare minimum. I need help. Lucky for me, I have found a hairdresser that is willing to teach me and I hope (fingers crossed!) help me really improve my hair. Check out the before and after pictures below - I'm loving the new color she did! (Now I just need to learn how to style it.) About my outfit: I am headed to Kansas today and this is what I'm wearing on the plane! It's both a personal trip (I'm from there) and business (I'm doing a "Shop with J for a Day" event on Saturday). I'll be posting all my outfits as the week goes on. I have my high school reunion, a family function, a sorority function, a shopping event and much more so stay tuned!

    I too have VERY thick wavy blonde hair and it is a challenge to style it. Usually, I just straighten it but have recently been trying out the loose waves look. This blog gives a great how to on wavy hair. I would give it a try!

    Jillian, thank you! My hair naturally has big beachy waves but for some reason I don't like it that way. I'd rather it be slick straight! I just wish I was better at doing it, haha. :-)

    I feel the same way about my hair only mine is thin, fairly short, and dark.  I love clothes, but when it comes to hair and make-up I think 12 year olds know more than I do!

    Kimberly, I always do my best to make my hair look acceptable for the photo but it's usually a mess I'm afraid haha. :-)

    I have the exact same hair texture.  Have you used Moroccan oil?  Organix makes one that is way cheaper than the Moroccan oil used at salons but works just as well. Try using a dime sized amount on damp hair and let your hair air dry about 80%. Then put your hair in a lose bun to finish air drying.  When you take your bun out you will have perfect, glossy, frizz free waves.

    I don't notice a huge difference besides a trim and it looks a lot healthier.  Try curling or pinning it back...regardless it will look great.  I think most of your readers are accustomed to seeing your hair down, so a small change will make a big impact.

    I have similar beachy waves throughout my hair, and the best quick hairstyles that I've found have been from fashion blogs just like this one! Lovemaegan.com is not as much my style as your website is, but her hair tutorials are simple and helpful. Love the new cut to!
