Today's Everyday Fashion: My New Obsession!

I'm so excited to share my new obsession with you guys: a website called MJRSales.com. It's packed full of brand-name clothes, most under $15. You can think of it as shopping at a TJ Maxx-type-store online! It almost seems too good to be true, so thankfully the folks at MJR let me try it out so I could share my experience with you guys.

What I got (left to right, below):
1. Moda short sleeve tunic top, $11.60
2. Famous Catalog embellished front bikini top, $13.60
3. Moda v-neck tank dress, $11.99
4. Famous Catalog open shoulder tunic top, $13.83
5. Famous Catalog open shoulder tunic top, $13.83

Here are my tips for shopping MJRSales.com:
- It works like eBay. Each listing is for ONE, single item. If they have more than one (and in other sizes), then they will be listed separately.
- Read each description carefully - some items may have smudges or small stains, but they do a great job of providing all the info so you won't be surprised when you receive it! In general I think they "under promise, over deliver" because I've always been pleasantly surprised and/or unable to even find the marks they were referring to. Items have always been better than I expected.
- There are thousands of listings, which can be overwhelming. Use the menu on the left to narrow things down. For starters, you will want to select the "Size Type" - either Regular or Plus, which will usually narrow your search by half. I also prefer to view things by category - so I will select "tops & blouses" then "Regular" (under Size Type), which narrows the search to only 10 or so pages. To view shoes, I select only the size(s) that I wear. Keep in mind that you can select as many sizes as you would like at one time. (Wait for it to load, then select another size.)
- The best stuff sells out within a day or two, so be sure to check the "New Arrivals" section regularly! That is definitely where I find the best deals.
- Some items are "pre-owned," but that usually just means that someone ordered the item, then returned it.
- Famous Catalog = Victoria's Secret and Famous Mall Brand = Express, they just can't say that. :-)
- When it says without tags, it means price tags but also usually part of the tag inside the shirt has also been cut-out.
- Shipping is usually $2 per item, so consider that when making decisions.
- Read the return policy. MJR charges a re-stocking fee for items, and in most cases you will also have to pay for return shipping. Choose wisely and only order items you are sure you want to keep.

Check out how I wore some of my new stuff in Miami this weekend! Left: my roadtrip outfit. Right: hanging out on South Beach!

  2. J -- Your blog is a god-send to me. I have challenges with my fashion sense (to say the least). I tend to wear black shirts and jeans all the time! Your blog has inspired me to accessorize and to find bargains. I read one of your posts from a long time ago saying you were losing your job. I sincerely hope your blog is able to be your job now, and if not, I hope you found a new job. :) Keep up the good work. I am a fan.

  5. They carry different brands, so it might differ depending on what brand you order. Everything I bought was from Moda and Victoria's Secret though, and I got an XS and everything fit perfect!!

  19. I am a long-time MJR fan. I can't believe some of the deals I have gotten there (picture Limited dresses for $11, a three dots skirt for $5, yes I said $5, and Colin Stuart leather riding boots for $20!!) If you live near the Columbus Ohio area, that is where their warehouse is located and in addition, they do sales around the city. You save on shipping and you can try stuff on at the warehouse. They also sell a lot of Limited, Lane Bryant, and aeropostale, in addition to Moda and VS (and some others I can't think of right now) LOVE LOVE LOVE them!!

  25. I absolutely love the open shoulder tops! How accurate are the sizes on this website?

  26. Chrissy, they sell tons of different brands (just like TJ Maxx) so it depends on what brand you are ordering. I just ordered an XS across the board and everything fit.

  27. LOVE LOVE LOVE! You have some killer legs btw!

  28. This is not listed on your buys i know.. but I LOVE THOSE shorts!!! Where did you get them??

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thanks Lauren! The shorts are from Abercrombie. I bought them last summer for more than I wanted to pay ($50), but this summer American Eagle has identical ones for $35! I'm thinking of buying them in a longer inseam.

  30. you looks very cute in these dresses thanks for bringing these nice styles to us, by profession i am a designer and its awes0me to see these cute designs

  31. Why does the yellow dress look like it comes down to the knees on the website picture and is much shorter on you? Did you expect it to fit that way when you ordered it? If I ordered that dress, I wouldn't expect the fit to be so drastically shorter! (it still looks great on you, but I couldn't pull that off!)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Gina, funny you say that because I definitely expected the yellow dress to be that short on me. I'm 5'7" and a size 2 (a S in this dress), so I'm used to everything being way short.

  33. How long does it generally take to receive items using their standard shipping? I placed an order a few days ago, and it says on the site that the order is still "processing."

    ReplyDelete
  34. Lauren - it usually takes a couple/few days to ship, but then after that it's "regular" speed shipping (about the same as it takes for Gap to send me something). This is an excellent point though - I will add it to this article. Kind of a drag that it takes so long to ship in my opinion!

  35. Can you PLEASE tell me where you got the shoes you have on? Or point me in the direction of ones similar? I have been looking for shoes just like them for what feels like ages....

Thank you!!  And I absolutely love your blog. Just stumbled upon it and so glad I did!

  36. Abby - which shoes? The heels in the top row? Those are the Chinese Laundry Bellevue. Pretty old, I got them at DSW. These are my updated ones I'll be wearing all summer: http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/landingpages/lclaurenconrad/shoes/PRD~968838/LC+Lauren+Conrad+Platform+Dress+Sandals.jsp

  37. Thank you! Yes, I was referring to your heels. Those Lauren Conrad ones are adorable. I might just have to get them. They look pretty high though!  But for the price and the fact that I have a Kohls charge, this is win/win. :)

  38. How often do they add new items?  I've been stalking their site for the past 4-5 days but haven't seen where anything new has been added.  Thanks!  By the way, I love your blog!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Amy, at minimum they add new items once a week, but sometimes it's several times  a week. I also don't believe they ever add new items over the weekend, just during the week!

  40. I went to the site and it only shows plus-size clothing....what am I doing wrong?! Love your style and ideas...thank you for sharing and inspiring!

Nata, use the categories on the left hand side. Select "Size Type" and then "(Regular)" to only see non-plus-size items.

  42. I absolutely love your site! I have finally decided to start investing in clothing since I'm a huge foodie and when I get money I think: " now which restaurant should I go to??" I'm such a fatty. Lol but I felt its time I start doing that and your site has helped a lot. That all being said, I love love your denim shorts where did you get them??

    Thanks?

  43. Too funny Susann! Those shorts are from Abercrombie years ago!
