Today's Everyday Fashion: The Happiest Place on Earth

I dig his outfit
Occasion: First trip ever to Magic Kingdom!
Shirt: Forever 21, $19
Shorts: Abercrombie, $50
Belt: H&M, $20
Shoes: Rainbow, $40
Necklace: Banana Republic, $20
1st Time Visitor Button: c/o Disney!! ;-)

Why this works: When visiting an amusement park or outdoor festival where you will be on your feet all day, the first priority is comfort. Consider the weather, plus what you'll actually be doing. It was hot (85 during the day), but a sundress isn't functional getting in and out of rides. I went with shorts, added a comfy shirt that would also keep me cool and some accessories to complete the outfit. Shoes are also hugely important. It was too hot for socks and sneakers, and I'm most comfortable in flip-flops so although they weren't the cutest part of my outfit they did the trick! What are your tips/ what do you wear at an amusement park?

Pinocchio loves the ladies

Feeling the magic
Gorgeous!

My favorite ride: Space Mountain

I love Disney at night

About our day: at the risk of sounding like a curmudgeon, I've never been all that psyched about visiting Disney. As a child, I had my sights set on visiting SeaWorld, and I've never been that into Disney characters or movies. As a lover of thrill rides, I also didn't really understand what you did at Disney? Just walk around and look at characters? Aren't the rides just for little kids? BUT after living in Orlando for 1.5 years, having friends in town was the excuse I needed to go see what all the fuss is about. And... I loved it. I would still rather visit Six Flags for the thrill rides, but now I understand that comparing the two is really apples to oranges. Disney rides are about the thrill of sight, and Six Flags rides are about the thrill of adrenaline. There is a time for both, just like some days you might want to go to a museum (Disney) and some days you want to go for a hike (Six Flags). Consider me the newest Disney convert! ;-)

  3. Do you have any suggestions for shoes that are a little sturdier than flip flops, but also stylish? I can't walk around all day in flip flops. I also tend to wear burmuda length shorts for amusement parks because I hate sitting on the seats of rides that burn the backs of my legs. Love your outfit though. The top is sooo cute!

  4. Great suggestion about wearing longer shorts for outdoor rides! Not all flip-flops are created alike though - Rainbow and Reef sandals are cushioned and don't rub, making them super comfy but also stylish. I also saw some girls wearing cute New Balance sneakers. Not really my style, but in a pinch they would work!

  9. Looks like you had bunches of fun! You should have more outfit posts like this. Not in amusement park per say but outside or around town. :)
I would wear the same thing to an amusement park, looks comfy and cute!

  10. Looks like you're having a great time!! Space Mountain is my favorite too. I agree that dressing for an amusement part is very tricky! I always have to center my outfit around whatever shoes will work best, since foot comfort is of the highest priority. Thanks for sharing!

  11. THANK YOU FOR WEARING FLIP FLOPS!!!!!! I can't tell you how many times (on the fashion site I belong to) the gals blast me for wearing flip flops instead of gladiator sandals. First off I absolutely abhor how my feet look in gladiator sandals, and secondly flip flops are standard casual warm weather wear around here. I also appreciate that they're nicer flips instead of the $5 rubber Old Navy type. So thank you for being a fellow fashionista in flip flops!

  12. Ditto on Reef. I also suggest Rocket Dog as well (never tried Rainbow). Both Reef and Rocket Dog are super cushy and comfy and after breaking them in, the foot bed conforms to the shape of your foot making them specially made for you! ;) Rule of thumb for flips, fork the money over and spend at least $20...you'll be glad you did.

  13. Haha you are welcome! :-) I absolutely love gladiator sandals but these Rainbows are way more cushioned, so for 12 hours on my feet I had to go with them.

  16. I agree with the longer shorts too. No matter how hot your legs, no one wants their bum burned or hanging out!

  17. Totally agree! Although at Disney I realized that all the rides are inside the air conditioning, so the rides never get hot!

  18. I loveeeeeee Disney! I'm 26 years old and have gone the past 3 years religiously. I wish I was a kid again. That Toy Story ride at Hollywood Studios is the BEST!
