Today's Everyday Fashion: Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! This is what I will be wearing for church and dinner with family/friends tomorrow. I purchased everything but the shoes this week, not intending to wear them together but ultimately I couldn't resist this girlie mix of pastels and bows. I won't be posting tomorrow in observance of the holiday, so I hope you have a great weekend and I will see you Monday! Which version do you prefer - tucked or untucked? What are you wearing on Easter?

The angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay." - Matthew 28:5-6

  1. Second line #3 = divine! I think I prefer top out as opposed to tucked in, either way it's a cute outfit! HaPPY Easter.

  2. nice outfit....isn't the top a little too tight?

    ReplyDelete
  3. The wrinkle you are seeing is because the seam on the shirt is slightly higher than the top of my skirt, so there is some fabric falling out of the skirt. I like it tucked in better, but it's going to be hard to keep it tucked in for that reason, so I'll probably wear it out!

  4. Untucked! Such a cute Easter outfit! :)

  5. I like it untucked, the peplum is so cute - of course you look divine either way - gorgeous!

  6. Too tight for what church? I don't think so at all.

I prefer the top tucked in

  7. Top out! And I absolutely love it- I saw one similar on Modcloth but this one from Express is less expensive. Is it still available?

  8. I like it better tucked in. the skirt has too much volume to add a peplum to the look. It's adorable though! Have a happy Easter!

  9. Untucked for sure, work the peplum while it's still in style!

  10. Looks cute both way. Seems like untucked would be more comfortable! And I love the necklace. Enjoy your Easter Sunday! He is risen!!

  11. I like both, but the untucked gives a peplum look that is so in right now!

  12. Seriously, you can wear ANYTHING. It's kind of annoying. :) I actually don't really care for the outfit (no offense, personal preference only), BUT it looks adorable on you. I think you could throw on a burlap sack, a cute belt, wedges...and we'd all be like, "oh, super cute." Happy Easter!

  13. Happy Easter!!! Love your observance of Easter and that you posted verses! Also, untucked is perfect!

  14. The peplum too is way for flattering! The skirt sits up high and with the tucked in shirt makes you appear wide.

    1. I meant peplum is more flattering not for! Lol

  15. Untucked :) And yes, He is risen indeed!!

  16. Eliminate the belt! The outfit is completely adorable but I think the belt makes the outfit look cheap. The statement necklace is just enough.

  17. I prefer the peplum out! Very Easter appropriate. :-)

  18. I like the top both ways, but I think I prefer it tucked in due to the volume of the skirt. I like either the belt or the necklace though. It's a little too busy for me with both. Otherwise, I love the colors and the skirt is divine. It looks very expensive.

    Happy Easter to you!!

  22. Nice color combination! I like the peplum worm out with the belt. Very sweet. I like the skirt on you! I was going to wear the buttercup yellow linen pencil skirt from BR (no longer online) and the same color top! However, when my pencil skirt arrived it was too tight across the thighs. It looked fabulous standing...but i gotta sit! Lol. Had to return it today to the store and feel sick about it cause they didn't have the next size up. :( I really don't want to stand all day!
I will now be wearing the Charter Club Slim Skirt from Macy's in the color Wet Grass with a purple blouse and a mint green bubble necklace with mint green plastic shoes (I bought them 15 years ago downtown LA and they just now fit...lol).

  23. I love it tucked - you have such a lovely figure and makes it look sleek but girly.

  24. The outfit looks perfect untucked! Happy Easter! xx Pip

  30. I LOVE your Easter outfit! I think the top looks adorable both ways, but for some reason untucked is standing out to me more!

  31. Tucked is actually cute, but I prefer untucked. You get to see the cute flare of the top!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Untucked! Btw I love your bible verse :)

  34. Shouldn't peplum tops be worn with a more fitted bottom? I would wear the top with a pencil skirt and the skirt with a tucked in white button down shirt....no belt and shoes, too matchy-matchy. I wore an eyelet dress with cardi.....

    ReplyDelete
  35. I meant the belt and shoes with the bows are too matchy-matchy....

  36. Hi J! I like it untucked. Great color combo. :)
The dresses are so cute and make me long for arm & leg baring weather here in Colorado (almost, but not quite)! I love the cut of the 'skater' dresses. I feel as though they would flatter most figures. Happy Easter!

  37. Love it! J-how did you score that gorgeous statement necklace for $20!!

  38. Love the outfit - untucked for sure. What church do you go to here in Orlando? My husband and I visited Northland today for Easter Service and it was AWESOME!

  39. Your minty-blue pastel top............ with your skirt of shimmery-tan, *lurex polka dots* on a lemon-yellow background............ (plus your lovely, feminine necklace; and bow-motif belt & heels)............ are all just *b.e.a.u.t.i.f.u.l.* together!!

"To tuck or not to tuck?"............ (i.e., like Hamlet's "To be or not to be?," haha!!)............ is something I simply can't answer, because I honestly like BOTH versions of your outfit!! With your peplum top tucked i.n., the TAN contrast waistband of your skirt is then, of course, very visible; and changes the whole "feel" of your outfit............ i.e., from an untucked, very soft, "Feminine Vibe"............ TO............ a tucked-in, somewhat colorblocked, "Preppy Vibe"!! Additionally, with your "tucked-in" version............ the colors of your waistband and skirt, tan and lemon-yellow, are among the "Warmer Colors" (on the Color-Wheel)............ and I can see, then, how you might also be able to style "WARMER-colored" tops, J., with your skirt, too............ e.g., natural linen; cream, pale pink; rose-gold----(like the soft rose-gold-finished studs on your heels!!)----fuchsia; red; coral; peach; etc.!!

  40. i love the color combo but would opt for the less is more approach by tucking in the top and no belt. i love how the waistband matches your shoes and offers the bow detail at the same time. these really are lovely pieces!

    ReplyDelete
  41. i love both looks on you! I am a little hesitant to try the peplum style bc i have an hour glass shape and fear it will not flatter me.

  42. I love your looks, so beautiful! I am totally a fashion newbie and have some probably ridiculous questions -- can you wear wool without tights? And, I have some lighter wool skirts from J Crew and I'm wondering what the season is on those. I live in Minneapolis, so it's just now getting into the 50s. Also, what are your thoughts on nude tights for the summer? I'm so pale!! Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Heather, not ridiculous at all! I have a wool mini skirt from J.Crew that I have worn with bare legs and flat boots in the winter. I have also worn the same skirt with pumps or flats and a light blouse in the spring and fall, so I think you can get a lot of use out of those skirts. As for hose, I'm personally not a fan of anything that is trying to look like "fake skin" and prefer tights that are obviously not trying to come off as skin. That's just one person's opinion though so do what works for you!! :-)

  44. First of all, I want to say that I appreciate you posting scripture related to our risen Savior. I'm a Christian too and that is one of the reasons I love your blog. I prefer the 1st look.

I saw this on Saturday when you posted it and fell in love with the outfit. It is so gorgeous. However, I'm plus sized and I thought it would be hard to find some similar items. I was able to score similar items on Lane Bryant. I found a bright chartreuse daisy sateen pencil skirt. I'm thrilled. I can't wait for it to arrive with the tops. I went with the chartreuse theme on top. I saw it on the model and it is not too matchy matchy. With coupons, I scored the whole outfit at a great price. When I get it all put together I will post it. I'm excited.

  45. Thanks so much Mina! Happy (late) Easter! I would love to see the outfit you put together - please be sure to post a link here, or tweet me, or post the picture on my Facebook page so everyone can enjoy it!! :-)

  46. how did you get the skirt for $40!? I saw it for $70 today :( By the way - love your blog; literally reference it every chance I get and base my own wardrobe around it!!! I especially love when you post other options for us to buy rather than the one pictured. Love your site so much.

  47. Last note: personally, I like it tucked in better - I think it looked more polished and put together, however the untucked peplum looks more trendy. I work at Francescas Boutique and would totally wear the tucked in version of the ensemble.

  48. Thanks Kelly! I got the skirt during a 40% off promo they were running in the store!

  49. Hello J!
I'm a new follower and LOVE your site. Soooo I bought this skirt after seeing on you, and now that it's in my possession I have NO idea what to wear it with. Please help!!! Thank you!!!!

  50. I FINALLY found me a yellow bow belt! All the ones for plus size that I found were from China. Seriously! I could live with that but I did not want to wait 4-6 weeks. I found it on elloquii. I hate they are closing but I'm getting some serious deals! I will post my picture. BTW, my real name is Vicky but I have a sort of alias because I'm a teacher and don't want my students stalking me. Sometimes I want a low profile!

  51. Caity, there is a link to the Express top in the caption! Let me know if you can't see it for some reason?

  52. That was the in-store price! I never saw it drop below $99 online, but in store prices are almost always WAY cheaper!! I share more saving money tips in this post: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/04/todays-everyday-fashion-secrets-of.html
