I used to be the kind of shopper that let the sale section dictate what I bought. I would only buy things on sale, and only buy things because they were on sale. Now, I plan out a wish list, set a budget and consider myself to be pretty organized. That said, these plaid jeans are a throwback to my old ways because I only gave them a second look since they were on sale! As soon as I tried them on, I was happy the sale sign had pointed me in their direction though. I love their quirkiness, and I can envision them styled in different ways. I wore this black rock-n-roll version last weekend, but I also have some preppy outfits in mind (think navy/ivory/cognac) that I will be posting soon. Would you wear plaid jeans?

never thought of wearing plaid jeans but they look great on you! xo

The plaid jeans look great on you! I think I'd wear a pair, but I'd probably choose a navy/dark plaid because I don't know if I'm bold enough for the red yet! :) I love the leather jacket and shoes in your post too!
ReplyDeleteI am also, very often, a sale-directed shopper, so I'm totally with you. I don't think I'd ever go with plaid jeans (big hips + plaid = disaster), but there are a thousand other things I've bought before simply because of a sale. Sometimes it works out well, sometimes it doesn't. :)

how fun are these?!? you are rocking this look, J!
ReplyDeleteI love this look on you. On myself? Not so much. I tried on some plaid cropped pants at J. Crew in the fall and they looked terrible. The plaid got all stretched out of shape. This might not be a good look for girls with curvy legs.
ReplyDeleteplaid jeans are definitely not for me, but I have to second the comment below me. when i saw this post, i couldnt help but think "WOW. you are rocking that look!" love it.
ReplyDeleteLovely on you...too 'Bay City Rollers' for me!!! (younger readers may need to google Bay City Rollers!) x
ReplyDeleteCute! I am not sure I would wear plaid jeans, but I do like how you styled these with the jacket to give it a little bit of rock and roll. Maybe you will change my mind with your preppy look. That's more up my alley :) Heather
ReplyDeleteLove this look, you rock these jeans so well. I will give this a try but because of my shape i will wear the leather at the bottom and the plaid on top.

I love plaid pants, I just get nervous that I'm too hippy to pull them off! But you look fabulous!!!
ReplyDeleteI love plaid and I love these jeans! You look fabulous! I love that you chose Jessica Alba, she has great style and you look awesome in this outfit! Loving the two kinds of shoes too!

Great outfit. Not sure I'm brave enough to tackle plaid pants, although i did have a pair many moons ago. I guess if I would find the right one I would consider wearing. As I get older I'm learning to never say no to fashion, well fur but everything else is game. It's all about finding the right style for you. Love your shoes and the leather jacket.

when you posted those plaid pants as a purchase (hello, alteration!), I HATED them, but this is an awesome look! can't wait to see what else you come up with for them, I may be a believer yet!
ReplyDeleteer, alliteration, that is! :)
DeleteLOVE your take on this look!! Perfect street style :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving plaid pants right now but not everyone can pull them off. I love the cap toes with them. Adorable!

How many pairs of shoes do you own? I am really wanting to slim down my shoes and I feel inspired because I have noticed you seem to have a handful of GREAT quality shoes that you use frequently. I have lots of shoes that I don't wear much and I like the idea of having less and wearing them more! :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Love the jacket and heels with the plaid!

I don't think I would ever invest in plaid pants - not enough outfit ideas for me. I would get inexpensive plaid tights to go with a neutral dress, though!
ReplyDeleteI think i would like to wear plaid jeans once, but probably not often. It's really easy to make these jeans unclassy and sometimes trashy if it is put with the wrong clothes. I think that how you put a motorcycle jacket was a perfect match though.

I love your outfit! I would have never given plaid jeans a second look but after seeing you in them I might just have to reconsider! I think you look way better than the inspiration photo and I cannot wait to see what you do with them next!
ReplyDeleteI would wear plaid jeans if I did it with neutral solids like you did. I really liked the jeans with the boots. It was a fierce look.
ReplyDeleteI would like to purchase the cap toe pumps but the link isn't working for me. Please help! Thx!!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this outfit! It's very retro chic!

I don't know that I ever would :( But you did a good job styling them!

Love these pants...just ordered them myself. Thanks for the great daily styling tips...I can't get enough!
ReplyDeleteLove plaid jeans and would probably wear them in an outfit similar to this one you posted. But since I have tunnel vision and would only know how to style it in this one way, you can be sure that I'll be looking forward to seeing what other outfits you come up with.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your great blog. If you were in NY I'd hire you in a heartbeat because I. Need. Help! :-)
I love how you recreated the look!

'Just love your red-and-black Scottish plaid jeans, i.e., they're not-too-loud/not-too-bright!! In your 6-photo spread............ when comparing your Limited RED-AND-BLACK Scottish plaid-print jeans *with* Tommy Hilfiger's TONAL RED plaid-print jeans, (i.e., the photo directly A.b.o.v.e. your Limited jeans)............ your red-and-black jeans seem (to me) more subdued/refined............ than the tonal-red jeans!!
ReplyDeleteI think traditional red-and-black Scottish plaid pants or jeans----(depending on how they're styled and accessorized)----will probably look great in *whatever century* they're worn: your two Rock-'N'-Roll Versions here, J. ............ really R.O.C.K.!! (I wonder how a sheer, dressy blouse/cami or an open-weave, casual top/cami~~of some sort~~also would look with red plaid jeans?)
Dear J I did a post on my blog because you are an inspiration to me. Hope you dont object but I gave you full credit. Here is a link if you want to see it if you object contact me and Ill take it down. thanks Adrienne

You are so sweet! Thanks for the shout-out!
ReplyDeleteI almost bought them but they didn't have the red plaid in my size so I went with the green ones for $20 instead.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite item for daily wearing is wedge shoes, do you like them? I found a great site that offers various style of wedge shoes at http://www.upere.com/upere-wedge-sneakers-c-1.html, have a look at them.
