Today's Everyday Fashion: Colorblock Button Up

Inspiration: Jessica Simpson Collection

New purchases: do you wear them right away, or do you save them? I normally wear things right away, but I've been saving this colorblock button down for a couple months now. My theory is that there are so many things I could possibly wear it with, it was hard to pick just one! Regardless, I'm digging the end result of this catalog re-creation and plan to brainstorm even more ways to wear it. How would you wear this top?

Leather jacket: Victoria's Secret, $257 (vegan, vegan)
Shirt: TJ Maxx, $15
Pants: Target, $22 (similar, similar, similar, similar)
Necklace: My Stella & Dot website, $138
Shoes: Chinese Laundry c/o (same)
Purse: Michael Kors, Santa
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift
Rings: My Stella & Dot website 1, 2
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot website 1, 2, 3

Express / Kohl's / Go Silk
Free People / Quiksilver / Express

  2. Like the look, but I think a belt could help this look more pulled together.
Also, I know you aren't into what things are called but technically, that shirt isn't a button down (button down shirts are the ones with buttons that hold the collar down, that's a button up shirt...)

  5. The outfits running through my mind are endless.  This top would look awesome with pencil skirts, jeans, colored pants, oh my goodness!  A denim jacket maybe?  I love it.  I'm also loving the versatility of this look!

  9. I'm loving the end result.

I don't wear everything right away, which is a sign that I probably need to stop buying things.  I'm glad I didn't wear my mint Express blouse right away though, because it turns out they restocked it online so I got it, another blouse, and olive skinnies for an average of $29 each. Phew that was a close one.

I'm also of the mentality that I shouldn't "waste" a cute outfit on a day where I don't need one. That's a holdover mentality from college/when I didn't have as vast of a wardrobe (before I started working full time). So I definitely need to get rid of that mentality because I could waste a cute outfit every day now and not run out of things to wear.

  10. Love your outfit. I like to wear what I buy right away. It's like getting a present!!! :) Love the top and how much your look looks like the picture. I like yours better. I would pair this top with trouser jeans and a blazer or under a sweater.

  12. Gorgeous top!  I'd wear it with everything, lol.  Seems really versatile!  I vary back and forth; sometimes I wear new things right away and sometimes I forget about them for a bit. xD

  15. I love the way you wore this shirt. I'm a fan of the color of the pants too. I think it would look really cute tucked into a printed skirt for spring.

  17. This is such an effortlessly cute look. I like to wear things right away because unless it's a major event (wedding/holiday), why save it?

  21. *Almost* any purchase from TJ Maxx is a good one in my book :)  I feel like there are endless ways to wear this: casual with jeans and black pumps, dressy with a skater skirt, tights and ankle boots, or even with black jeans and bright colored pumps. Love versatile tops like this!

  26. Love this look on you! As for new items, if I don't wear something in the first month I buy it, it's probably a sign I should take it back. Not that I'm always disciplined about that rule :)
