Today's Everyday Fashion: Last of 2012

Inspiration: Zara

It's the last of 2012 and while I'm not posting a collage of favorite outfits (see Outfits tab for some favorites), I can't help but wax nostalgic. In some ways 2012 was great - I reached goals I never thought possible (50,000 Facebook fans), and had some amazing experiences (Sierra Leone). But this was also my most difficult year, with family illness and serious personal trials; it was a very sad time. It was with pleasure that I escaped to the world of fashion for just a moment with you everyday, and I want to thank you for joining me this year. 2012 ends on a happy note, and I'm optimistic about what 2013 will bring. Here's to a very merry - and fashionable - 2013. Cheers!

About my outfit: I skipped my usual winter uniform of skinny jeans for a comfy striped skirt and boots yesterday. Also, pretty sure I'm wearing this dress tonight for NYE, but I will let you know!

Blazer: Gap, $75 (similar, similar)
Shirt: Banana, $20 (similar)
Skirt: Limited, $25
Boots: c/o Chinese Laundry, $180
Purse: Karen Millen, gift (similar, vegan)
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift
Rings: My Stella & Dot website $69 and $39
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot website $59 and $59 and $79

  11. Lovely...as usual!! Can I ask you how you take your pictures? On a tripod? I started using a tripod with white paper as a backdrop...it's just not panning out as I had hoped. Haha. Your lighting is perfect, etc. Would love some tips!

  12. Thanks Camille! My photography is far from perfect and I'm always brainstorming ways to make it better - but I use a tripod and timer, and I always use natural lighting (which thankfully in Florida we have plenty of).

  13. Have you ever considered posting your sizes in the outfit posts? You wear a lot of the same brands as me, and appear near the same size and I think it could be helpful, especially for online shopping across brands.  Just a thought.  Thanks.

  14. Thanks for always keeping it positive and creative, despite your personal trials.  We can always count on a new, fresh perspective, and you truly do have something for us "everyday", which must be hard to do.  I just found a stripe skirt yesterday on clearance at Sears, black and camel stripe, very similar length and cut to what you're wearing, for only $15.  Can't wait to try it out.  I'll go with black on top at first (can't wear camel near my face), but I'll be watching you for some more creative options.  Thanks again!!!

  16. I'm always happy to share the sizes I'm wearing - just let me know which pieces you are interested in! (For this outfit blazer is a 0, top is a 2, skirt is a 2, boots are a size 9.)

  18. H&M has a skirt very similar to the Buffalo Skirt pictured for about $7!  I bought this skirt for a trip to Nicaragua last week and I was wondering how to transition it to San Francisco so I could wear it this now!  Thanks for the fashion inspiration!

  23. Loving this outfit! And one of the things I enjoy most about your blog & twitter is your genuine honesty about life and who you are! Your attitude on the trials is that of Romans 5:3-5 and that is every bit as inspiring as your outfits are :) Happy 2013!
