I love red and sequins together for the holidays! (See how I wore it last year on Christmas Eve.) For a holiday party last night, I achieved this combo by pairing an old red dress with two recent Black Friday purchases - a sequin cardigan and purse - to make it feel new again. This dress is also a great example of making a cheaper dress look more expensive with altering. I bought it one size bigger from Forever 21 so it would be longer, and had it altered to fit a couple years ago. Are you a fan of red + sparkles for holiday? What are your favorite holiday colors/textures?
Cardigan: Limited, $40 - It was warm so I didn't need the cardigan; I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it!
Dress: Forever 21, old
Shoes: Marshall's, old (love these)
Purse: Limited, $15
Earrings: local boutique
Rings: My Stella & Dot website $49 and $39Bracelets: Banana Republic, My Stella & Dot website $59 and $59 and $79

Lovin the sequins theme that's going on! I think that during the holidays and formal events you can never go wrong with sequins or red.

I absolutely LOVE this outfit You look absolutely amazing!! I might have to recreate it for a wedding shower/bachelorette party at the end of the month! Thanks for your inspiration!
ReplyDeleteGreat combo and love the idea of using a dress you already have with new accessories. Thanks for posting holiday party ideas!

As a Boston girl, I am insanely jealous that it was too hot for you to wear a cardigan. Its so hard to find special occasion outfits that are cute and will still keep me warm. The red and gold are stunning together - I love your shoes!
ReplyDeleteI love red for the holidays, but sometimes it feels like every other woman at the party is also in red so I usually go for green or purple instead.
ReplyDeleteSparkles are a no-brainer for holiday events. I'm doing a black sequined mini skirt and plum long sleeve sweater with rhinestones studs on the sleeves for NYE.
I love red and sparkles for the holidays both! I feel like this dress actually looks kind of better without the cardigan though.. it's just such a gorgeous dress that speaks plenty on it's own! :)

ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! I'm a college student and there's always another holiday party to go to, and I never know how to dress for them. I've always been cautious about wearing bright red, but after seeing this outfit I might have to! I never thought to pair red with gold sequins, but I love it. :)
You look so nice and festive! Happy holidays!

Red and soft gold sparkles really work well together - you look amazing especially in the second photo. My favourite colours and textures during this time of year are plaids like here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/12/fall-attire-plaid-and-pleats.html, sequins and damask patterns like here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/12/weekend-look-currently-wearing.html, and deep greens and fur like here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/11/fall-attire-hearts-on-my-sleeve.html

Love it! I went to a fancy Christmas party at the Arkansas' Governor's Mansion this weekend and this would have been perfect!
ReplyDelete'Loved your red-and-sparkle outfit *last* year--------also 'love your (different) red-and-sparkle outfit *this* year, too, J.!!
ReplyDeleteAfter an overnight snowfall, on a very cold but sunny Pennsylvania day, I just love the look of snow............ *sparkling* like Diamonds In The Sunlight against a bright-blue sky............ which is probably why I like the color combo of............ *sparkly* white (or off-white)............ with sky blue (or cobalt blue)!!
(I have a sleek, off-white, 3/4-sleeve, bateau-neck sweater - with metallic gold threads - but now I simply need to figure out the rest of my outfit!!)
I love the red dress with the pink cardigan. Gorgeous.
