These turquoise pants haven't been the easiest to style, so I was thankful to stumble upon this photo for some inspiration. A thick neon sweater and a camel blazer make the pants more appropriate for chilly weather, and yet it's not your typical somber fall colors. Do you wear bright colors year-round, or just during warm months?

If this were a "Who wore it better" post, you would win. I like how your blazer sits lower on your hips.
ReplyDeleteI paired my mint/turquoise pants with red, black and white recently, it was a good look although I felt like I belonged in a 50's diner.
Super cute pants! Your take on the inspiration photos is really great. I bet these pants would look great paired with purple too. I love wearing color year-round. It makes the cold winter days much brighter! Heather
ReplyDeleteI like your outfit better (that's usually the case lol) . I'm also loving the Target blazer better out of the three!

Love how you took the brights and turned them perfectly into a fall look! Fab layering! I wear brights all year long...why not?!!!
ReplyDeleteMy mom wore pants with sewn in crease. Is it coming back? I hope not. Anyway, your jacket is much better than the one in the inspiration pic. In fact, your whole outfit is better.
ReplyDeleteLove this color combo! So bright and fresh! I love your style and your blog. You always put together the best outfits!

Love these colors together! I need this jacket in my life!!

I find myself naturally more drawn to neutrals, but I still try to incorporate bright colors into my wardrobe in the colder months. Just a little thing like wearing a happy color can easily boost my mood on a dreary day!

Really love your outfit but where I live (Montreal, Canada), bright colors don't fit really well for November, unless it is sunny outside!
ReplyDeleteI've been embracing bright colors into the Fall as well! Check out my latest post called, 'Brights'!

I wear bright colors all year round, but I don't pair them together. Like if I were wearing those pants, I probably would have paired with a chocolate or black top. But it looks great on you! Just not my thing in the cold months.
ReplyDeleteI wear bright colors always always! I'm not sure I know how to do anything else!

I love the cropped pants and think they look so cute with that bright top. Cute necklace too!

Love the bright colors! I've been trying to wear brights through fall too. Bored with my usual black and grays lol

I don't dictate colors by season as I think it's so refreshing seeing someone walking down the street in the dead cold of winter with something bright and happy on :)

I love color and wear it year round. I'm glad they are showing more color this year. It always brightens my day when I wear bright colors!
ReplyDeleteJust found your amazing blog and I love it! You have such great style and I can't wait to read more! Newest follower! I'd love for you to check out my fashion blog, too! xo.

Thanks Megan! Welcome to the blog; I will def check yours out!
ReplyDeleteI grew up thinking brights were for summer/spring so I never thought I could wear my light pants from summer. I do like cream in the winter, though, but I guess that's not a "bright" color. Maybe I'll have to try wearing my mint green pants this winter. Would you wear bright even when snow is on the ground, though?

I love your blog!! Your style is amazing and you give me lots of great ideas!! I JUST bought the Limited version of your yellow top this weekend and have been curious how I was going to style it so thanks for this post! :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a fresh colour combo. I love the look.
ReplyDeleteI definitely wear lots of colour year-round (even in the cooler months). I think J Crew has helped legitimize wearing lots of colour in the cooler months. Your pants would also look great with a black and white striped top and leopard heels like these looks: http://atlantic-pacific.blogspot.ca/search?updated-max=2012-08-18T14:00:00-07:00&max-results=4&start=4&by-date=false or http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/09/fall-suiting-emerald-green-and-stripes.html
Great post. I am always trying to figure out how to wear my brights in the cold weather.
ReplyDeleteAs usual, your outfit is actually cuter than the inspiration. I wear bright colors year round but toned down by neutral layers for winter.
ReplyDeleteHi J! I searched everyday fashion on the internet hoping there would be something even remotely like your blog out there and was very happy to find EXACTLY what I was looking for! I noticed you like to wear a variety of colors and probably have many favorites. When you find an item that you love that comes in multiple colors, how do you choose which one to buy? I always have a hard time choosing because I like them all so sometimes I end up buying more than one.
ReplyDeleteI like the turquoise color, and you matched the inspiration photo really well. I like the fit of your blazer better, and I prefer your necklaces over the collar on the inspiration photo. I certainly think you can wear bright colors year-round depending on the mood in the office and the colors the bright ones are paired with.
ReplyDeleteYes! Mint jeans are on my wish list for winter actually! And I think brights could work with snow. Think about a neon skirt with a black leather jacket, black tights, boots. The same skirt would be too summery paired with other bright colors, but it's all in how you style it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bri!! I posted at least 10 outfits with that sweater last year, it's my favorite!
ReplyDeleteJessica, that is crazy, I love that! Welcome to the blog. :-) That is an excellent question you pose. I think my process when shopping is more that a certain shade catches my eye first, and then if the shape is good as well, I go ahead and buy it. On occasion that I'm looking for a specific item though, like a sheath dress has been a big one lately, I will consider 1. do I have this color in my closet yet, even in a different type of clothing, and if the answer is no then I go for that color! My goal is to have every shade eventually. 2. I consider what shades look best on my skin type. 3. Nothing at all wrong with multiples, especially in basics like t-shirts! If it is a unique shape, I would only get one. Or take your two favorite home, see which one you wear first, and return the other. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeletelove those pants! looks great with the neon!

This color combo is great. And I'm definitely one that would wear spring colors in the fall. Neon is just one of those colors that seem to go with almost everything. Just found your blog and I'm a new follower. Would love for you to check out my blog and join: My latest post: DKNY Double Breasted Cape

LOVE this outfit! These are my 2 favorite colors! I'm not sure if I'm bold enough to wear this but it looks awesome on you. Maybe I will start with one color and pop the other in an accessory. I NEED those teal pants :) Love checking your blog everyday <3

Absolutely *gorgeous* colors together, J.!! 'Talking about "your typical somber Fall colors," my maternal grandmother was born in the Czech Republic----(which included, at the time, her Moravia)----coming TO the United States when she was 14. While my grandmother was growing up on the farm............ and also way-into her adulthood, too............ she had primarily worn only dark navy blue; black; dark brown; gray; and some white. If she wore any prints at all, they were usually deep-toned, very small floral prints, (e.g., like dark calico prints). When I was a teenager, I spent a lot of time with my dear ("five-by-five") grandmother, which included cutting/styling her short, *bright-silver* hair for her. I also "talked her into" allowing her youngest daughter (my Aunt) to sew~~or to buy~~her some *C.O.L.O.R.F.U.L.* clothes, (including pants, which my grandmother had never even worn)!!
ReplyDeleteIn any event, with *colorful* house dresses; pants; and tops suddenly becoming part of my (longtime-widowed) little grandmother's closet, she really and genuinely............ *blossomed* in her elder years!! All of her many children and grandchildren noticed what a DRAMATIC change simply wearing color made in her, i.e., making her more (sociably) outgoing and fun-loving!! My grandmother died at the age of 79; and her last years were marked............ (i.e., no, *T.r.a.n.s.f.o.r.m.e.d.* For The BETTER!!)............ by her wearing color, which she wore year-round, J., to make up for............ "LOST time," I think, *in* wearing color, (haha)!!
What a beautiful story Rosanna! I love color more than anything (the sight sense is by far my favorite - I'm not nearly as into fancy food or music), so I'm a big believer in it's therapeutic qualities. Thank you for sharing!!
ReplyDeleteI have the exact same pair of pants that you styled in this post. I have a really difficult time figuring out what to wear them with too! I would love to see more of your ideas for these pants.
