Today I'm sharing two work looks with my cobalt blue pencil skirt. In the first look, I was inspired to pair my skirt with a mirror print top from this summer, and then added cognac brown blazer and shoes. Below was a similar evolution - the photo inspired me to pair my skirt with a black and white striped shirt, and from there I added a black blazer and shoes. For those of you in a colder climate, you could easily sub in pants for either of these looks, see my shopping picks below! Which way would you wear it?

I love the cobalt with the cognac pieces! Both looks are great though. Cobalt is such a gorgeous color and it looks great on everybody in my opinion :) Heather
ReplyDeletesuper cute skirt, love the color!

Both looks are cute! I'd be more likely to wear the bottom outfit. This simply may be because I want a striped shirt & that I already have a black blazer & pumps.

Love cobalt pants! I have a pair of jeans in the same color and they look great with so many different colors!
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to enter my giveaway going on right now! :)

I am fair with dark hair and green eyes. Wearing cobalt near my face makes me look paler but really sets off my eyes. It is my best color and I have several cobalt tops in heavy rotation.
ReplyDeleteI almost bought some cobalt pants yesterday. Now, i'm regretting not purchases them! Womp, womp!
ReplyDeletei adore that second look!

My favorite is the second outfit. I love cobalt and black together.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely wear it the second way! I have that same striped top and I love it so much! Plus, cobalt looks so great paired with black and white! Great outfits! Thanks for showing us two different ways to wear one piece-- I love when you do this on the blog :)

I just really love cobalt blue for this year! I tried on a pair in this color in a waxed jean, but I just couldn't pull the trigger for a $200 pair of cobalt blue jeans. I ended up getting the same pair in black instead. Same price, but it was a compromise on the leather pants that i really want which were WAY more expensive! Still, I'm having buyer's remorse and have yet to take the tags off.
ReplyDeleteCobalt is an amazing color to work with! It is bright enough for summer but works for fall too! I love your pencil skirt above, very chic!

Love the looks and love your new banner up top! xoxo
ReplyDeleteToo funny! She seems really down to earth, I'm a fan.
ReplyDeleteDanielle, I feel like these types of situations are when having a clothing budget really helps. If your budget is $500 a month, then I say keep the pants! It does sound like a good compromise to leather. If your budget is $200 a month, then you could spread out the cost over 4 months like I did with my leather jacket recently (I'm taking $50 out of 4 months budgets). Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! That's a temporary banner until I can roll out my brand-new website in a few weeks! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe cobalt blue skirt I recently bought (that's been untouched in my closet for a month now) thanks you for this post. :)
ReplyDeleteI like both looks but def loving #2 more! :)

ooooh I love the 2nd one! Both are great but I'm so into striped tops right now and that's such a fun way to wear them.
ReplyDeleteI love cobalt blue and black together! That shade of blue in jeans is just as versatile as regular denim but more fun.

J, I get such a kick out of checking your website every time. I can really relate to your posts even though I'm just an ordinary girl, definitely no style expert. Fashion sense is something I admire SO much, but it does not come easily to me. I also love the new banner and am looking forward to seeing the new layout of the site!
ReplyDeleteThanks for some great ideas - just got a cobalt skirt from NY&Co. I am drawn to the second look and probably can recreate with my current wardrobe for a work outfit. However, I think the first is more casual and therefore go with jeans for a fun outfit. So I will probably use both!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Sarah! I feel the exact same way you are describing - just an ordinary girl and fashion sense doesn't come naturally to me. That's why I always say that if I can do this stuff, then anyone can!! :-) I hope it encourages women that they can do the same!
ReplyDeleteI am having a difficult time my cobalt blazer. From some reason a cobalt bottom seems easy but the blazer rarely gets worn! Thoughts?
ReplyDeletelove that second look! now I need to get some cobalt jeans to expand my collection! :]

Jo, try moving around the pieces in these (and any other outfits containing cobalt) so that they work with your blazer. For example, the second look could be a cobalt blazer, striped shirt and black skirt or pants. The first one could be a cobalt blazer, mirror print shirt and camel jeans or skirt. I hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteI would wear them both... the first one is cheerful and I can't resist the stripes on the second one.

Jenn,
ReplyDeleteI have a cobalt blue skirt that I really wanna wear, but what color tights would you suggest wearing with them? It's a little too cold in DC for me to be bare-legged this time of year. Thank you!
I would wear black tights with the second look!
ReplyDeleteI love the second look with the black and the stripes!! Looks great :)
