Today's Everyday Fashion: Outfit Stalking

Today's look is the result of many months of outfit stalking! I was immediately smitten with this outfit when I first saw it about 6 months ago. It is hugely responsible for the purchase of my camel jeans several months ago, and it was a big factor in the recent purchase of these hot pink pumps. I just had to have an outfit similar to hers and I think the result is pretty close! Have you ever fixated on an outfit and re-created the whole thing?

  2. Love the way you dressed up that basic tee!

  3. Not from head to toe, but as I'm fashionably hopeless, I often use inspiration images to help me understand what works together, and then I find similar pieces.

LOVE this outfit by the way. I'm not bold enough for a pink pump, but I would wear this exact outfit with a black shoe! :D

  4. This is so cute - would never think to pair the bright pumps with this outfit, but I love it! :)

  5. I don't necessarily copy the entire outfit but I definitely like to copy statement pieces or bits of other's outfits.  Copying is the highest form of flattery after all. :)

  6. I've never recreated an outfit, but I've wanted to. My entire Pinterest is my dream closet, if only I had the time or money to shop for all that! Love your look here though.

  7. I love those pumps! Are they comfy? I am thinking of buying them in nude...

  10. LOVE THIS OUTFIT! And the shoes? To die for! How are you getting past the 85 degree heat in FL with the long sleeves though??

  11. I'm kicking myself for not buying pants just like that from Gap when they were on sale. It's one color I don't have in my closet that will go with so much! Not sure if I stalk an entire outfit but pieces of an outfit. For instance, your sea foam green skirt that you pair with mustard is on my list! ;-)

  13. Have I?  Of course!  I do it all the time!  It's even more fun, though, when you realize you already have all the pieces in your closet.

  14. Wow I love this! I would never think to pair hot pink pumps with a darker shade of tan pant, but it looks amazing! This is a great look on you :)

  15. Gorgeous! I love the fun pop of pink with the neutrals.  Fantastic re-creation, and I really like some of your specific details- a more ornate necklace, v-neck t, and fitted jacket.  I just may fixate on this outfit and try to re-create it!

  20. Brittany, so far they seem really comfy! Haven't given them the whole 8 hour day on your feet kind of test yet though, I'll let you know when I do!

  21. Love this modification Rachel! I think black shoes would be chic and tone it down if you aren't into the pink. :-)

  22. Love the neutral palette and the casual chic of this outfit! You look beautiful! Hope you are having a wonderful day!

  23. Oh, this is definitely one of my favorite outfits! I love hot pink with olive, one of my favorite color combos for sure. I have been on the hunt for a navy blazer, but I'm so cheap I don't want to spend over $30 for one. Lol.

  24. Thank you! And yes, this would be tough (but not impossible) to rock in Florida right now. This one is definitely meant more for my peeps up north!

    1. And I thank you for the inspiration!! It has been pretty cold here in Oregon and hard to tell if it's really Spring. I can say that for just about every season though-- never matches the calendar. Anyway, love this outfit! The pink pumps are so fun :-) (guess all of us are your stalkers huh?! Lol)

  25. Love it, especially since all of the pieces are so versatile!

  26. I love the outfit. Especially the blazer, when did you purchase it? I am so needing a navy one.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Thank you! I've had the blazer for at least 3-4 years now. One of the best purchases I ever made though, I love it! Banana has one similar right now, but with a beige trim. You could also try J.Crew or J.Crew outlet!

  28. When I see an inspiration outfit, I try to buy the pieces slowly, but it's hard! I love the whole outfit, but especially the shoes! I bought a pair of pink pumps last spring and love the heck outta them! So cute!!! I call them my Barbie shoes. :)

  29. I love the original concept but I like your version of it way better -- I think the cropped, closer-fitting jacket looks nicer.

  30. I love your blog b/c I seriously feel incompetent when it comes to fashion -- and they you post things and make it look so do-able!
I especially like this outfit :)

  31. Jenny, thank you!! I seriously feel incompetent when it comes to fashion too lol! So we are in the same boat lady. :-)

  32. Yes I have outfit stalked, is it creepy that's it's often your outfit? hehe

    ReplyDelete
  38. Wow!  You nailed it.  Looks perfect.  I actually like your look better.  It's more tailored and flattering.

  40. Thank you Faith! And that is an excellent question. I would personally wear this to work, to work meetings or to a networking event. The shoes are bold, but I think the rest of the outfit is toned down enough to make them appropriate for most offices!

  41. Spot on outfit! I love how it's a bit casual, but the pumps and your necklace jazz it up a bit!

  45. Cute outfit! The pop of color is fantastic! I have a question for you... if you get shoes with a pop of color, should you avoid using that pop in your outfit? Specifically, I was looking at
http://iheartdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Old-Navy-Cap-Toe-Flats.jpg ... canvas flats with a cobalt cap-toe. Would you avoid pairing these with a cobalt skirt? Do you think
http://www.caphillstyle.com/storage/cn4337757.jpg?__SQUARESPACE_CACHEVERSION=1327287071295 are impractical? Thanks for your help, J! I really appreciate it!

  46. J: Question in regards the 'long day test'...any recommendations on breaking in shoes? I just bought a SUPER cute pair of mustard wedges, I wore them to an event for maybe 4 hours and my feet were tore up. I think I'm even going to have a scar :( I love the shoes dearly but how do I prevent that from happening again?! Flip slop season is upon us and I need my feet to be cute! :)

  47. I've been loving all your outfits this week!

I have a navy blazer very similar in style to yours, but I don't really like the way it looks with black shoes.  Maybe I'm just being old fashioned?  Either way, I definitely need nude shoes and some colored shoes too!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I recreate other bloggers' outfits all the time.  I even bought three new pieces just so I could recreate the outfit.  This looks great on you!

  49. Lindsay, I love navy and black together, but I don't think I've done this blazer with black shoes ever! Could be that i prefer more of a "blue" navy with black, this blazer is pretty dark so I'm not sure it would look quite right. Brown and nude shoes with navy are my favorites though!

  50. Kate, overall it's pretty hard to make any hard and fast fashion "rules" that work across the board, but I would say it's perfectly appropriate to have pops of color in an outfit "match." In fact, I think it can be really cute! Both shoes you linked to are cute - I personally think the yellow ones would go with more (having yellow shoes myself and being somewhat addicted to them), but the blue ones would also look great with a cobalt skirt like you described!

  51. I would have never thought of putting those colors together but so cute! : )

  55. I'm also your outfit stalker - guilty! Visiting your blog is one of the first things I do in the morning to get inspiration on what to wear that day. Love fashion but hate shopping because I never know what to buy that will add to my wardrobe. You've helped out tremendously! Thank you J!

  56. So sweet, thank you!! I'm so glad the blog has helped, that is totally why I do it, so that is great to hear! :-)

  57. Hi!! I only found your site a couple of weeks ago but since then it has definitely become one of my favorite bookmarks!! This week's outfits have been your best yet and I can't stop fawning over your bananna necklace in this photo!! Since there's no link, I am guessing it's sold out but do you happen to remember the name of it? I am in LOVE! :)

  58. Thank you Natasha and welcome to the blog! :-) I bought this necklace two Christmases ago, so it's quite old. I love it too, I think it's the unique combo of both silver and gold that makes it special. I don't have a style name and i just did a quick search and couldn't find anything similar. :-( I do have this necklace, it's somewhat similar. Sorry I couldn't help more! http://shop.stelladot.com/style/b2c_en_us/metropolitan-mixed-chain-necklace-187.html?s=jspage
