I wore this outfit last week for errands. It was finally cold enough for a blazer, and I wanted to wear some of my latest acquisitions from my shopping spree. I will admit, I bought this pink plaid shirt because it reminds me of ones I've seen at J.Crew. I wish I could buy everything in that store, but for now this more budget-friendly option will have to do. If you could have an unlimited budget in any store, which one would you choose?
Inspiration photo: J.Crew
Shirt: Old Navy, $14 (recent)
Blazer: Limited, $60
Jeans: TJ Maxx, $17
Boots: Grifter c/o Chinese Laundry, $149
Necklace: My Stella & Dot website, $136

1. Land's End Canvas plaid shirt, $16.99
2. Forever 21 plaid shirt, $17.80

Unlimited budget? ANN TAYLOR LOFT for sure!!! I swear I love everything in there!
ReplyDeleteIs that blazer suede? Super cute. I never would have thought to pair suede with...anything I guess, but it works!
ReplyDeleteI would argue Jcrew is worth the money because the quality is so good--you will have those pieces for a long time!
ReplyDeleteJ.Crew for sure! I don't agree that J.Crew is worth the money, even if the quality is good. I will not pay $125 for a skirt!
ReplyDeleteAn unlimited budget would find me at Nordstrom! Beauty products, handbags, shoes, clothes, jewelry, sunglasses. I would have a field day! It's fun to dream, eh???

I agree about Jcrew. They have a blazer like the one you are wearing too. FYI- i noticed the store has 40% off sale items....
ReplyDeleteI think I would probably go with Nordstrom for variety, but I have been loving Land's End Canvas lately. So many of their clothes are reminiscent of J Crew styles, with a lower price-tag.
ReplyDeleteI actually have all of the components of this outfit. I love the pink plaid. I will have to wear it soon with my blazer and boots!
ReplyDeletebloomingdales or banana republic :)
ReplyDeleteId probably pick The Limited because their selection usually fits me pretty well right off the rack and I dont have to deal with tailoring. I am petite so sometimes shopping becomes a challenge.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your pink plaid, it looks great on you and its girlie enough in the pink shade that its not like that whole "lumberjack" plaid that was recently popular.

wow what is happening to that poor model's crotch in the inspiration photo?
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick a store with unlimited budget, then I'd choose either Bloomingdales or JCrew. I think both have gorgeous items, but I'm too cheap to buy from them often. JCrew Outlet is more in my budget!

hahaha i noticed this too!! it looks terrible!
ReplyDeleteI would pick J.Crew or Anthropologie. Preferably both. J.Crew for the work week and Anthropologie for more weekend whimsy.
ReplyDeleteOh now I really want that Land's End shirt! Pink plaid is so cute!

Yes! I so love this look :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that Land's End shirt is only $17? I just saw a preview of their Spring line and there is a strong JCrew influence, at a more affordable price! If money were no object, I'd do all of my shopping at Bergdorf Goodman.
ReplyDeleteI love that you wore the three quarter length sleeve blazer with a regular long-sleeved top. I always wonder if that would look weird and it doesn't look weird at all now that I see it on someone else.
ReplyDeleteAs for what store I'd want an unlimited budget it, it would be a toss-up among The Limited, Banana Republic, and Nordstrom. Too hard to choose otherwise :-)
Love the pink with the brown! Super cute!
ReplyDeletePlaid looks so pretty in pink!
ReplyDeletePretty pretty. I like this look! Now for the store to spend an unlimited amount of money… I would have to say Express. They have a mix or work and weekend fun and casual. That would be my best bet :)
ReplyDeleteI saw that too, eep! When bad photoshop happens to good people...
ReplyDeleteThat is a tough question...can I cheat and say Macy's? For me, that would mean every brand in the one in Manhattan (so yeah, that's probably cheating). I would probably end up choosing Banana Republic!
ReplyDelete"it was finally cold enough FOR A BLAZER" !?! lucky you! ;))
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this!
The store I would love to shop till I drop - Victoria's Secret (actually their online catalog - for clothing... and of course for lingery) also Guess... Mango...
Yes, First thing that caught my eye! Haven't they ever heard of Photoshop? lol...yikes!
ReplyDeleteI don't normally wear these kinds of button up shirts but your outfits have inspired me to step out of my "comfort zone"! I bought a brown one yesterday and I've been looking for a B&W one... great, now I'm going to add pink to my list! Thanks J!
ReplyDeleteYou look adorable J! Love your blog!!
ReplyDeleteIf you get a chance check mine out

Hi J, Just ordered the pink check shirt! So bummed I missed out on the Limited blazer. Can you help find "similiar"? Love the plan for more JCrew this year. Yes, would love to live in that catalog!
ReplyDeleteHey, just wondering what brand your jeans are, I see you got them from TJ Maxx. I don't think the TJ Maxx in Manhattan is good at all - when I lived in Denver I could find everything at that TJ Maxx location!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving the plaid! I usually stay away from plaid but the pink makes it a little more wearable in my book! And I was just admiring all the new button downs at Jcrew!! I love me some Jcrew but if I had unlimited budgets at any store I'd probably pick Nordstrom-- shoes, jewelry, make-up, clothes, accessories... um yes, please!
ReplyDeleteJ I totally love the pink plaid with the cognac blazer, and for 14 bucks?1? Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteyou can never go wrong with plaid. adore girl! oh, and your boots are perfect!

Thanks Ana! I have to admit the first two winters living here were nice, but all the heat does get old after awhile. :-) Especially when I have a closet full of winter stuff I'm dying to wear!
ReplyDeleteYes, I LOVE that Land's End shirt, very J.Crew!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually just the pants - she is wearing harem (drop-crotch) pants. Looks terrible, I agree!
ReplyDeleteI agree Angie, Land's End Canvas is really cute lately - I love the shirt in today's post!
ReplyDeleteJo, yes I was also inspired to buy this blazer b/c of J.Crew lol! They did have big sales recently, but everything in my store was still super-pricey. Pants after the 40% were still $80, etc.
ReplyDeleteI would argue that J.Crew is worth a little extra money for certain pieces like a blazer you will have forever (esp. if you can find it on sale!). But not for trendy pieces like pink plaid, I recommend not spending much on those and investing in the basics!
ReplyDeleteIt's velvet. It's like the shrunken girl version of a jacket you would see on an old college professor = totally love it. :-)
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute look - I tried that Old Navy shirt on in the store & the small fit everywhere, except was too narrow in the shoulders, but the medium was too big. :( Was so bummed because I love it too!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this look and the Land's end canvas option is my fave!

The blazer paired with the pink looks fabulous! If I could pick one store it would be JCrew all the way!
ReplyDeleteI just picke up a pink plaid shirt and you have shown me the perfect way to wear it. If I had an unlimited budget, I would shop J Crew. They carry clothes for both my office and weekend looks, and throw in some evening wear to boot. Perfect.
ReplyDeletesuch a cute shirt and a bargain too! Gotta love old navy - usually the first shop i head to when i am in new york :)
ReplyDeleteI actually like your shirt better than the J Crew one! Unlimited budget, hmmm, maybe Mango, not that it's unaffordable, just that there's so much there I would buy! Or maybe Marc Jacobs...
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit! Everything about it, just gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI wore that same shirt today :) Love it with the blazer!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit. I'd pick The Limited.
ReplyDeleteI just recently bought a pink plaid shirt too! It's sleeveless with snap front buttons and will look great with jeans and boots. I love the Lands End one above.
ReplyDeleteIf I could have an unlimited budget in any store, it would definitely be The Limited.

Your jeans' deep navy color makes the pretty "begonia" pinks (in your plaid shirt) simply............ *g.l.o.w.*............ and your gold jewelry also encourages the cognac color (of your velvet blazer) to *g.l.o.w.*, too............ right-along-with your shirt!!
ReplyDeletePlaids in which the colors are woven onto an (at least partial) *marshmallow white* background genuinely seem to HIGHLIGHT a pretty smile............ (which you, and also the model in the Land's End Canvas photo, Above, BOTH certainly do have!!)............ so at the VERY NEXT event/activity/function in which I'd maybe like to "favorably impress" and/or "be remembered positively"............ I think I'll somehow try to work............ A PLAID-ON-WHITE PIECE............ into my outfit FIRST............ THEN I'll just *smile* a lot, (haha)!! What a gorgeous outfit for errands, J!!
Oooooo is that the new blazer?? It's GORGEOUS! Definitely a purchase worth splurging for! :) And I love a fab giant check shirt, I have several and love them!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I could pick one store! Lately I've been obsessed with girly Kate Spade, but I think I would get tired of the preppy demure look everyday.
ReplyDeleteLoving the rustic country look of the plaid with the glam necklace! You never disappoint, J!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, love love love this outfit!!
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit!!
ReplyDeleteoh J, I think we've all seen enough of those boots for awhile.
ReplyDeleteEverything about this is so cute! The top is so cute, and the blazer is made of a great looking material!
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible blazer! love it!
