Today's Everyday Fashion: Cobalt Love
Cobalt has always been one of my favorite colors (I was obsessed with the ocean as a child, so all those tropical fish could have something to do with it). But now that it's everywhere in stores, I find myself having major cobalt envy. I have several cobalt pieces in my closet already (okay, six, including these pants) but I'm not sure it will ever be enough. Call it what you want, but I'm in love. :-) If you had to pick one color in the whole rainbow as your favorite, what would it be?

I really like how you paired these cobalt pants with the mustard pumps. Are these jeggings or skinnie jeans? Debating whether I can get away with these at the office. Thanks in advance!

I love the cobalt blue trend! Great styling! I am thinking I need to get a pair of green skinnies for spring and possibly the pastel green color as well! Do you have them in the darker green version? I'm obsessed with colored skinny jeans lately and I used to dislike them so much!

I love cobalt too, it's such a striking shade!
ReplyDeleteIf I had to pick one color to wear, it's gotta be black. Call me boring, but it goes with everything and what other color is as chic? And you can wear it head to toe!

I love the cobalt blue and love this outfit!
ReplyDeletei love the touch of yellow in this outfit with the shoes! I think yellow is probably my favorite!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite colour - PINK! Different shades of it, fuchsia, dust pink, magenta, blush pink... also like camel-ish tones...
ReplyDeleteRight now, it's definitely Cobalt!!!! I have a pair of jeans for casual and going out outfits AND cropped trousers for work..LOVE this color!!!
ReplyDeleteLove cobalt!!

J, i have to ask- where is your ring? I haven't seen you wear in a really long time!
ReplyDeleteI love cobalt. Blue is by far my favorite color - especially the cobalt shade. I also am obsessed with the colored skinny jeans trend. I currently have lavender (from years ago) and this fall recently acquired green, red and cobalt. As a skinny jean aficionado, I have a comment on the 3 examples you provided. I have tried on both the American Eagle and Limited versions and I thought the fit was just very awkward. I'm tall (5'10") and the Limited ones were too short in the crotch and hit me above the ankle. The worst part about the Limited pair was that they were not tight at the ankle so they just looked strange. The American Eagle ones also did not work well for my body. In my opinion, Gap has the best jeans of any kind, but especially skinny jeans. They are a bit more expensive ($69.95) but the fit and quality make it well worth it. I am a skinny jean lover and in the winter, the colored ones are a fun way to mix up my wardrobe. Keep up the posts!
ReplyDeleteLove the cobalt pants - such an upgrade from boring denim! Also, the mustard shoes with cobalt is super fun - reminds me a little bit of my husband's alma mater MICHIGAN! haha!
ReplyDeleteI am drooling over the clutch in the inspiration picture.

I love the look of this outfit. I need to invest in a grey blazer!
ReplyDeleteHmm, I can't just pick one color.. but I can slim it down to two hues - purples and blues. Cobalt is definitely one of my absolute favorites. The color works well for most people, but I think it looks especially great on you!

I love the color combination!! Mustard yellow is my new favorite color for the season! I just bought a pair of woven loafers from Chinese Laundry in this color and I love wearing them with all shades of blues!
ReplyDeletePurple is my favorite, with cobalt and emerald right behind in a close second. I love how you took the cobalt pants and added the gray blazer and yellow pumps. This could definitely work in the right business environment. Heather
ReplyDeleteCobalt is beautiful. I pull towards the jewel tones the most...I can't get enough of them!

Thanks for the info on the cobalt skinnies!! I'm actually wearing the ones from American Eagle and love them, but I haven't tried the others. I agree though that Gap has awesome jeans!
ReplyDeleteCobalt is my absolute favorite color! Great ensemble!
ReplyDeleteKaty, sounds like you missed this post. :-) http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/12/making-statement.html
ReplyDeleteI don't have green ones yet but I am SO tempted. I'm loving emerald hues for spring so I might wind up getting some eventually if I stumble upon a great deal for them! :-)
ReplyDeleteTiffany, I was just thinking the other day how difficult it is to tell if something is pants or jeans these days, for the purposes of following a no-jeans dress code. I would call them pants and think they would be fine for the office. American Eagle has them listed under the "pants" section of the website so if you really had to defend your choice, I guess that would help! :-)
ReplyDeleteRed is my go to color, but bright shades of blue are a close second. Love this combination. The mustard color of the shoes plays off the cobalt so well and the neutral gray jacket keeps everything classy.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great look on the model and on you! Although - I'd love to see the top untucked or a little mussed - it really adds to the boyfriend look.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pants! This outfit is totally work chic. Love it.

I'm definitely a purple girl. I've got a serious purple problem!

I LOVE this outfit so much! so cute and pretty!
ReplyDeleteYour "picking up" the taupe-gray colors in your snakeskin belt............ *with* your taupe-gray blazer............ is just marvelous!! I love how you can take an animal-print-ANYTHING, J; and "pull out" one of it's colors----or really complement one of it's colors----with another piece in your outfit, which then makes the animal print really *pop*!!
ReplyDeleteAs far as (one of!!) my *favorite* colors? In Town & Country Magazine's May, 2005, issue, makeup artist Bobbi Brown talked about how all of us have had those days when the reflection staring back at us in the mirror can often be pretty darn "blah"; but a quick fix *for* that can be a TURQUOISE-colored necklace----(or turquoise-colored earrings; or a turquoise-colored scarf or shirt, too)----which really brightens all facial skin tones; and makes the WHITES of your eyes and teeth appear to be, (i.e., in contrast to the turquoise color)............ even "whiter-and-brighter." Anyway, it seems like there's some shade of turquoise that almost everyone can wear; so............ try it, it really does *W.*O.*R.*K.*!!
Loving the cobalt blue! Blue is definitely my favourite colour.
ReplyDeleteI really like the jeans you're wearing. I've stayed away from the skinny jeans because I have big calves wondering if you have any advice, is there a way for someone like me to wear them?
Thanks KB! I also have fairly large calves, and all skinny jeans are not created equal. Some are super-stretchy, almost like leggings (where the hideous term jeggings comes from), and others are a thick denim material. If it's a fit problem and you can't get the jeans over your calves (I have this problem with my gigantic feet), then a stretchy jean is more likely to work for you. If it's a aesthetic problem and you don't like the way they show off your calf muscle (sometimes you can see it through the denim, no lie), then I would try a thicker jean. Hope this helps! Don't give up. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks Latte! I agree, I love the model's mussed look. The streamlined look is going to be better for an office environment though, so it just depends! Maybe clean during the day and mussed when you go out? ;-)
ReplyDeleteThis is my first time reading your blog, and I love it. Blue if one of my favourite color as well : )

Thank you and welcome to the blog!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI guess I didn't think about this as a work outfit because I could never wear colored, skinny jeans to my office! Either way, i like the color combo.
ReplyDeleteYeah, they are definitely more for people who can regularly wear jeans to the office, but this is a suit jacket so it's plenty dressy for a casual or biz casual office environment!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE cobalt too! I think it is such a flattering color and is definitely a way to venture into wearing color! I have a pair of Aqua skinnies that I love but I have been stalking those LOFT pants... I love them and think I need them immediately! Too cute and love how you paired them with the grey tones!
