I went on a shopping SPREE yesterday. My biggest shopping trip to date, I spent my $100 budget for both December and January in one chunk, plus the $100 I planned to spend in the day-after-Christmas sales (I wound up spending zero that day). It turns out that the after-New-Year sale was much better than the day-after-Christmas sale, so I will plan accordingly for next year! Here's what I bought:
1. Limited shrunken velvet blazer, $60
2. H&M pink blazer, $37
3. Old Navy polka dot shirt, $20
4. Old Navy plaid shirt, $14
5. Banana Republic leopard pumps, $60
6. TJ Maxx jeans, $17
7. Limited pleated skirt, $25
8. Old Navy emerald belt, $13
9. Banana Republic earrings, $10
10. Banana Republic bracelet, $10
11. Stella & Dot necklace, $62
Grand Total = $328
1. This was a bit of a splurge for me, but I've been stalking this blazer for months, and it was the last one in the store. I love the schoolboy charm, and I will have it for years.
2. This hot pink blazer will be amazing for summer but I also have some ideas for wearing it in winter. It's also super-comfy.
3. Polka dots are my favorite trend for spring, so I'm getting a head start with this adorable shirt.
4. I'm craving plaid lately and love the simple pattern on this one to wear under blazers and sweaters.
5. Another "splurge", I have been hunting for leopard pumps for over a year and finally bit the bullet. These are mohair and just high enough of a heel, but not so high that they make the leopard look cheesy. Love 'em.
6. I found these jeans in Kansas and absolutely love them.
7. I'm loving pleated skirts; they are such a refreshing silhouette to my closet!
8. An emerald green belt is another item I've been hunting for for a long time, so I snapped this up as soon as I saw it!
9. I had similar earrings from Urban Outfitters that just broke so these are a replacement, and a great price to boot.
10. I've been on the hunt for more bracelets to wear with my watch and again the price on this one was too good to pass up.
11. I got a discount on this Stella & Dot necklace from doing my trunk show, but it still cost me a pretty penny. Absolutely adore this it though. Love the boho feel and it instantly dresses up a casual outfit!
I also bought these items with a c/o gift card:
1. Express blazer, $55
2. Express scarf, $15
3. Express hat, $12
Did you find any amazing deals in the after-holiday sales?
I love that pink plaid shirt! Going to Old Navy in hopes to find it!!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute finds! Seriously, MLK weekend is one of THE best shopping times. The stores are bringing out their Spring stuff and deeply discounting the fall/winter.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite pick is those leopard shoes. They are perfect!
I love love love everything, especially all the bright items! I'm on a mission to grow my jewelry collection and those pieces are great!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see how you style the pink skirt!!
ReplyDeleteJ- I've had my eye on that pink H&M blazer for a few weeks now. I wimped out and bought the black one.. but I'd love to try the pink too! Can I get a sneak peek on your outfit ideas? I just don't have your vision. Love seeing your purchases! Thanks for putting in all the work!
ReplyDeleteThank you Alli! I have tons of pink blazer photos saved, so I need to go back and look at them. Off the top of my head I want to wear it with my cobalt skinnies, my camel skinnies with a pink printed shirt. This summer I'm sure I will wear it with my favorite white jeans, and I may even try a red pencil skirt. Also hoping to pick up some periwinkle/powder blue jeans or skirt that would be a great combo. And of course, regular 'ole jeans. :-)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to comment and say how much I LOVE your blog.. every time I see those "Maxxinista" commercials I think you should be featured! Such a great inspiration for me to shop my own closet for fun new ideas anddddd try some fun new stuff... especially the brighter colors.
ReplyDelete*Pause* sorry, that was me emailing TJ Maxx your comment. Haha! :-) Thank you so much Laura, I'm so glad you like the blog! Thanks for reading!
ReplyDeleteI always wonder how you find such great deals! How did you get that Limited skirt for $25? It's listed as $90!
ReplyDeleteWow! Good Buys!! Can't wait to see how you style them!! I love Express!! That's the place I start shopping the minute I land in the US!!

I bought that gold velvet blazer as well... but when I brought it home and tried it with several outfits it just looked so boxy on me! I ended up returning it (with a frown on my face because I was really looking forward to wearing it). I'm sure I'll be even more sad when I see the great outfits you post with it.
ReplyDeleteYou got some really great stuff! Sometimes it's hard to stick to a budget when there's such awesome finds calling your name!

I'm hitting up the mall tonight so I hope the stores aren't completely cleaned out from Xmas/New Year sales! I've had my eye on the polka dot shirt...
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pieces. I love the pleated skirt from the limited, I saw a skirt like that on pinterset! I really want to start investing in new necklaces, love the one you picked out!
ReplyDeleteWhat size did you end up buying the pink skirt from Limited in? From the reviews, it looks like it runs small. What did you think?
ReplyDeletethanks for posting!!! Some of my all time favorite posts of yours are when you post what you bought after a shopping spree!!! :)
Hi J, I love every each of them! Could you please check the style number of ON plaid shirt and let me know? Thank you so much!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pieces!! Enjoy your new goodies!

Can you please be more personal shopper? lol I just want to take you to the mall with me to pick out all of my outfits and scoring them for that kind of money.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll have to make a trip to Old Navy now. I never think to go there, but I could have sworn that pink plaid shirt was from J. Crew. I love J. Crew, and especially the outlet, but their prices are crazy sometimes!

J! I have a velvet camel blazer from Old Navy! The quality is actually really nice and I remember it being a super steal. I bought it maybe 5 years ago? It definately stays on rotation during the fall and winter months. It's also frequently borrowed by my sister and girlfriends. We all wear it with t-shirts or dresses or even just as a light jacket when it gets cool outside. Can't wait to see how you style yours!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Necklaces definately make an outfit standout :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the pleated skirt!
ReplyDeleteI love that plaid shirt that you got from Old Navy
ReplyDeleteLeigh, I thought the exact same thing about the plaid shirt! Looks very J.Crew to me, as does the velvet blazer. Love me some Crew, but I tend to try to find the same "look" for cheaper as I did here!
ReplyDeleteYou are very welcome Stephanie! :-) The pink skirt definitely runs small. I'm consistently a size 2 in Limited skirts, but the XS was pretty uncomfortable so I opted for a size S. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteAllison, prices online tend to be WAY higher (my leopard pumps for example are still $120 online, but I got them for $60). I actually linked to the wrong skirt on Limited though - it was $30 yesterday but now it's only $22! http://www.thelimited.com/detail/crystal-pleated-skirt/7083238
ReplyDeleteThank you! I believe the style # is 885831-04.
ReplyDeleteI love that pink blazer..totally love your blog..so cool..can we follow one another <3

This is quite funny as I just posted today too about my 'sales' purchases and my continued search for the perfect plaid shirt! I especially love the scarf you got and, of course, the plaid shirt!x
ReplyDeleteYep...actually found it in the store today and bought it. Had to go up a size as well!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting everything so quickly so us stalkers...ummm I mean followers can snag up some of your awesome finds!!!
Thanks for sharing your awesome finds! I love seeing/hearing about other people's shopping successes. Your blog is very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteYou are so great with color! I need some guts! Thanks for the inspiration, J. Also, I'm thinking of starting my own fashion blog. I'm hoping it will help with my fashion evolution from a college athlete to a stylish woman. We'll see how it goes, but an suggestions? I would love to hear them! Thanks J!
ReplyDeleteI finally found a pair of awesome boots! I tweeted you on Dec 26th but ended up finding my own :)

Got the velvet blazer for Christmas and I'm loving it! Beware, the buttons pop off easily, so manually reinforce them if you can.
ReplyDeleteI have that skirt from the Limited in black! I just got it too, so I'm anxious to wear it!

Fabulous finds! I adore that Express scarf and the candy-green skinny belt. I didn't end up shopping the day after Christmas either but ordered two mini skirts from Target, two dolman sweaters from Boscov's, and a wild one-sleeve top from J. C. Penney's.
ReplyDeleteHey J, I love your blog! I've been on the fence about the pink pleated Limited skirt. What are your ideas for outfits? I have no idea what to pair with it :/
ReplyDeleteThanks Kate! I was actually just talking about this skirt on Twitter today - I think I'm going to exchange it for the black one. I have tons of ideas for a hot pink bottom, but I want to look for more of a mini fit I think. You could wear it with leopard, navy, neon lime, and gray to name a few!
ReplyDeleteI have the #3 in blue. It's a bit see-through tho. I can't wait to see you style it!
ReplyDeletethose leopard pumps are now half off, in fact everything thats on sale at banana is 50% off...you should go back and get a price adjustment! :)
ReplyDeleteadditional 50% off that is
ReplyDeleteThanks, I agree! Definitely needs a cami!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip! I think I got 30% off the sale price, but just might have to bring my receipt this weekend to get that extra 20. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHaha you are very welcome!
ReplyDeleteYay! You finally got your kelly green belt :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'll try your suggestions. I just feel I haven't been able to get the right match with shoes and top. Either my shoes are too casual for the outfit, or the top is too dressy, etc. Do you ever run into issues like these?
ReplyDeleteOmigosh, you got some fabulous new things! I'm absolutely loving that pink blazer and pink plaid shirt! I haven't ever really worn plaid but I think I need to give it a try! And that pleated skirt is so fun! Sadly, I've been off shopping for a bit since my bank account has been pretty low after the holidays, but hopefully I can do a little shopping soon!
ReplyDeleteYes, definitely! It can take several tries with a new item to feel like I've come up with a combo that works. Some simple pumps and a blouse paired with this skirt are pretty much always a no-fail solution though if you are in a pinch!
ReplyDeleteJ, Could you please let me know the size of the pink blazer that you bought? What size are you in BR or LOFT blazers? The reason that I am asking is that I do not have an H&M in my city. I am gonna ask a friend to buy it for me. I would like to compare the sizes before I do that. Thank you so much for your time.
ReplyDeleteI bought a size 4 in the H&M blazer. I usually wear a size 0 in blazers at BR or LOFT! H&M is a European company though so their sizing tends to be about 2 sizes off.
