Today's Everyday Fashion: Perfect Pairing

Cobalt and camel are two of my favorite colors and when you put them together in an outfit I think they are the perfect pairing. Speaking of color you may notice something different in today's picture? :-) I wussed out on going totally brunette at my hair appointment on Saturday, but I did go quite a bit darker (at least for me!) and I am totally loving it. I've been talking about it for ages (I spent a few months as a brunette about 4 years ago and hated it) and I haven't been able to take the plunge since. After seeing the results though, it makes me wonder why I waited so long! Have you ever changed your hair color? Did you like the result?

  2. Great pairing of these two colors!  I love how you take unexpected color combos and put them together.  Adding this striped skirt just makes it all the better!

Your hair looks great a little darker. It's perfect for fall :)

After reading your hair comment I had to share my similar story. In middle school-college my hair was bleach blonde. I tried once to go back to dark in high school and hated it! Finally, in college, when I no longer could afford the frequent root touch ups I decided, once again, to go dark all over. But, this time I loved it! Now once every 6 months or so I dye my hair black straight out of the box. Over the next few months my hair lightens up naturally and the red undertones pop through, then I do it all over again. Trust me, after I hated the darker color that one time in high school I thought I'd never try it again but I'm glad I did because I love my new color. It makes my hair look healthier and makes my eyes stand out too. Give it another chance! You might be pleasantly surprised!

Also, love the outfit. I've been obsessed with that skirt since I first saw it on your blog awhile ago. So cute!

  4. I like the way your hair turned out :)  My hair has been every color under the rainbow....but I always go back to blonde (I'm naturally dirty blonde)  Now that I'm older, I don't feel the need to do crazy things (think red, black, purplish lol) to my hair any more!  I'm loving your striped skirt :)

  6. Love the outfit. You wear quite a few Gap and Banana cardigans. Do they pill for you?? I find that their fabrics are horrible for that! Maybe it's the way I wash them...

  7. I love love that outfit, and the color combination is so beautiful!

And I love your new hair color, it's perfect for fall and I think you can pull of a bit of brunette with still some blonde :) I used to be a blonde but got tired of highlighting my hair all the time so I grew it out and am now a solid brunette again and I love it!

  9. I absolutely love this color combination!  It makes me ready for some crisp fall weather.

  10. Thanks Kate! I got the skirt two summers ago!

  11. Thank you Beth! I am really careful with washing my clothes - they pretty much never go in the dryer and I also hand wash a lot of items. Gap cardigans tend to pill more so than Banana (makes sense since they are supposed to be the "cheaper" brand). You can get one of those sweater shavers that will take care of the pills though!

  12. After reading your posts for some time now I am totally hooked on Forever 21 (their jewelry mainly).  There is not a Forever 21 in my town (dislike), the closest store is in Atlanta.  But, I went on vacation last week, and there was one in Savannah and I racked up on the cutest AND cheapest jewelry!!  I am still trying to find a Ross that has the cute shoes like you seem to find....I looked in Atlanta a few times at one of their Ross stores and wasn't impressed and I looked in Savannah and still nothing!  :(  But, am glad I have now found F 21!

  13. Jan, that is awesome! Ross is really hit or miss. I've gone in there many times and found nothing but sometimes you find the most amazing dress or pair of shoes so it keeps me coming back! :-)

  14. I change my hair color all the time! I've been just about every natural color except black. It's so fun to change it up and get a whole new look. Hair is like an accessory, and you can always change it or grow it out if you don't like it. Love the darker on you! So sophisticated!

  16. I like your darker hair! I grew up blonde and always liked the brunette dolls better! LOL I've never colored my hair, and I'd like to keep it that way if it is possible.

  19. Love the new hair color--perfect for fall. I too just colored my hair darker.  Not as extreme as your considered switch from blonde to brunette but a new color always takes a little while to get used to.

  21. I LOVE the striped skirt!  The last time I went to J Crew, I ended up at the register with 4 striped garments.  I really have to try to hold back sometimes. :)

  22. Love the new hair color - perfect for your skin tone!  I have always been blonde and a couple of years ago wen brunette.  I really liked it in pictures, but hated it when I looked in the mirror! :)

  23. I'm sure that this site is common knowledge and I'm just new to it, but have you been to The Berry? (http://www.theberry.com)

They post compilations of pictures that are cute/funny/beautiful, and some of their fashion posts are great for finding inspiration pics!

  24. Thank you Susanna! I'm kind of feeling the same way - it still looks funny to me in the mirror but was so relieved when I took this picture b/c I actually liked it! :-)

  26. Love the hair.  And there's something about putting two colors together that just changes the feel of the colors than if they were by themselves.  Love this outfit!

  29. The hair looks great! Thank you for showing a great way to wear cobalt. I'll admit that I've always kind of struggled with that color, but I want to try wearing it a little more. This gives me an idea to get started with!

  30. I bought that BB Dakota skirt online and had to return it was a size 6 and looked like a 0! If anyone orders it size up and up. :)

  31. Thanks for the heads up! :-) That stinks though, sorry it didn't fit. I believe the website says to size up one size, but sounds like more like 2 or 3!
