Frothy |
My friend Stafford recently got engaged (yay!) and asked for some help finding a dress. I immediately went to Priscilla of Boston, which is my favorite bridal line and I also love that the website shows you the price of the dress + a video of a model walking in it. As I selected dresses to show her, I noticed some trends:
1. Frothy
I'm loving all the super-feminine, whispy details of these dresses! (above) If I was getting married today, I would totally rock this style, but I'm guessing these will be a little too "sweet" for my friend Stafford.
Unique necklines |
2. Unique necklines
Stafford specified that she doesn't want strapless, which is a good thing because so many dresses now are featuring straps! Check out the unique necklines on these awesome dresses.
Pockets |
3. Pockets
Even without the pockets, these dresses are gorgeous, but the pockets do add a certain chicness, no? Overall, these were my #1 pick for Stafford based on body type and her preferences. I think the second one has her name written all over it!
Congrats Stafford! I'm so honored to be a part of your big day in November! Now we just need to work on finding cute bridesmaid dresses. ;-)
I love the 2nd from the bottom too, awesome neckline!! I want to see a pic of your wedding dress! :)
ReplyDeletei fall in love with the dress on the right in the first pic!!! is my perfect bride dress!!
ReplyDeletethose dresses are all gorgeous, hope she finds her dress! i'm still in love with mine, 6 years later, and want to either change it into something else to wear on a more frequent basis, OR, have a wedding dress party where we all wear our dresses again! how fun would that be?! (maybe not the stress of having to fit into it again but it would be fun!)
ReplyDeleteWedding dresses with pockets. That's so funny! I don't know why I'm giggling over the concept. It makes so much sense, since the pockets don't even show. Brilliant! If I were buying a wedding dress, I'd buy the strepless one with pockets. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these pics! I am still so obsessed with our wedding! I even tried my wedding dress on just yesterday and it's been a year and a half since our wedding day. Sigh....
ReplyDeleteI love the pocket ones, esp the 2nd and last!
ReplyDeletelet us know when you found cue bridesmaid dressen. I am still looking for a good option for my girls!
ReplyDeleteLOVE!! My personal favs: #2 frothy & #3 necklines. But for Stafford I love #2 or #3 pockets! Great choices!!
ReplyDeletePS. Congrats Stafford!!!!
My wedding gown was from POB (I have the "maeve" from the Vineyard collection) and I also love the dresses they have there! Great picks :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats to you friend!! Oh I want to get married again (same man of course ;) ) when I was helping my friend wedding dress shop last year I was so tempted to try all the pretty dresses on again...love it!
ReplyDeleteGaaah I LOVE pockets on wedding dresses!!
ReplyDeleteI've also noticed how so many dresses (especially when I watch Say Yes to the Dress. I could watch that show all day long...) are mermaid/trumpet style and strapless. I think its fun to do something that's *not* what's super popular or in style right now :) If I got married today, I'd want to have a deep V-neck and lace straps--a combination of unique neckline dresses #1 and 2--with a bit of a ball gown. But of course, whatever dress your friends falls in love with will be the right one. Congrats to her!
Since you mentioned it, I've wondered what your wedding/dress would have been like. Maybe one day you can humor us with some pictures! *hint*
ReplyDeleteI'm planning to do a big wedding post for our anniversay this July! :-)
ReplyDeleteLove that idea Emily! I couldn't stand the thought of my dress sitting in a box for the rest of its life, so I sold it right after the wedding so someone else could enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThe first group of dresses were my favorite. But I am a little biased, I wore Melissa Sweet (Priscilla of Boston) at my wedding. They are ALL beautiful! Congratulations to Stafford!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you did this post! I just got engaged on Monday and I'm starting to look (very early) for wedding dresses!!
ReplyDeleteMmm...I LOVE that first "frothy" one with the black sash!
ReplyDeleteAnd I ADORE pockets in dresses. I hate when dresses or skirts are made without pockets actually. I love the second pocket one...fabulous!
i LOVE #2 in rows 1 & 2 and #3 in row 3! i think pockets are funny because everyone wants to see your ring on your wedding day so who wants to hide their hands in pockets?!?! these dresses make me wish i could get married all over again!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your friend! Any of these would be perfect! I am loving the first one in the second set of photos. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know your friend's style, but if she likes to dress girly, I really like the second one under "Unique Necklines". It is a bit vintage but classic with a modern silhouette. For a really modern look, though, I think the ones with pockets are awesome. AND I LOVE THE IDEA OF POCKETS in a wedding dress! I wish I had pockets on my wedding dress.
ReplyDeleteMy to die for must have nothing else will do dress is the Meave dress from the Priscilla of Boston vineyard collection. Unfortunately no where around here carries PoB. I still get wowed thinking of that beautiful neckline, bow, and pockets. I ended up getting my dress from a classic ladies and gentlemen store in downtown that happened to have a bridal department upstairs. It is made by Jasmine Bridals. Sweetheart neckline, delicate beading, back laces up. Love Love it. Oh and it is less than half the price of the PoB.
ReplyDeleteEeeeeek! Congrats to your friend! What an exciting time. I LOVE the Monique Lhuillier and always have. So gorgeous. I went with Watters and they let me use the bodice of one design and the skirt of another design so that I could create something similar to the Amsale Tyler for half the price. It was amazing. So she can always work with the designer to get EXACTLY what she wants too. I love not feeling bound by the existing designs and being able to create something unique. Hope you keep us posted!!!! -Casie Mace
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your friend

Congratulations to your friend Stafford! I got engaged this Feb and we are thinking of having our wedding late Feb 2012. I have a busty frame and wide shoulders and also noticed that most dresses were strapless (which I DONT want) I love the laceo ne with the sleeves. Would like to see more of these selections for diff body types. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI am such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful and stylish friend! Also I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO honored to get my own post :)
