Today's Everyday Fashion: Dinner Date
I went on a fancy schmancy dinner date last night and this is what I wore!
Why this works: I toned down a gold sequined skirt by pairing it with a plain ivory sweater. I tied the look together by adding a sparkly belt and plenty of luxe jewelry.
Occasion: Dinner date
Sweater: Gap
Skirt: New York & Company, $25
Belt: New York & Company, $10
Necklace: Banana Republic, $20
Bracelets: Banana Republic, $10-15
Boots: Cynthia Rowley/TJ Maxx, $85

I can't believe the skirt was only $25. I would never think to tie the look together with the sparkly belt - I would think it would be overkill - but it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Girl you are rocking those boots! Hope it was a good date night and enjoy the rest of the quickly disappearing weekend. :)
ReplyDeleteI love all your outfits you put together. I am a college student about to enter the career world and I am so inspires to see how you make work outfits fun and fabulous.

I justw wanted to say that I love your blog and the outfits you post x
ReplyDeleteJ,
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love the skirt with the ivory sweater you look dynomite in it!! I would love to see the outfit with a great black pump instead of a bootie, but what you have on is the perfect date night outfit:). Please incorporate that skirt more in your outfits, it is too much fun not to!!!!!

Super cute! I love that you made this skirt work by pairing it with a plain top. I have a black pencil skirt with tuxedo detailing and one of my favorite things to wear it with is a gray American Apparel v-neck T to dress it down a little.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever buy things from Hautelook.com? I found their website the other day but haven't bought anything yet. They have some amazing deals, though!
sexy mama!!! But not too sexy :-) thats a great outfit, as always!
ReplyDeletejust curious...where do you get your bangles. EVERY place I've been too, they have always fallen off of me. maybe i'm looking in the wrong places. I see you got them at Banana Republic, but I might be looking in a different place then you...did you special order them online???
ReplyDeleteErin, I got 3 of the bangles in the store and one online. The one I got online does fall off sometimes, the others are fine though. What kind of clasp are you using that fall off?
ReplyDeleteBriana, I've looked at Hautelook but haven't bought anything yet. If you buy something let me know how it goes!
ReplyDeleteThank you Lauren! So glad you like the blog and find it inspirational! That is always my goal. :-)
ReplyDeleteWHAT A GREAT DEAL!!! fabulous outfit! *hearts*

i just know that i want some...so whenever i'm out shopping it's always in the back of my mind to try them on wherever i go. I've never seen the kind with clasps, do they have adjustable sizing??? maybe i need to look into that and where might i find them at?
ReplyDeleteErin, I have a few bracelets from Banana that have slide-through clasps and you can adjust the sizing. I also have one that uses a magnet, one that has an opening juuust big enough so you can slip it over your wrist, and another that's a full circle that you slip over your hand. You should try some on at Banana or other stores and see which clasp you like the best, I'm sure there is one that will work for you!
ReplyDeleteI bought this same skirt! I love how you paired it with an ivory sweater. I wore it to work (in a retail clothing store) with a dark blue denim two button blazer (buttoned), crew neck ruffly white tee shirt, and patent black kitten heels. I think it worked great, and was a nice alternative to my original kind of boring plan of wearing the skirt with a black top, :)
