  1. That outfit looks fantastic on you. I was at BR yesterday after work, chatting to the sales people about me needing some help for a fall wardrobe, because I fail at layering without making it look too thick.

I saw that blouse + sweater in the store, but I didn't see the skirt (love it!) nor the shoes (I don't think our BR sells shoes)...

  3. Love your style and blog but it is losing its initial idea what an average girl can afford and is getting more and more commerical:(

  5. Thanks everyone!!

Anonymous, I completely disagree. Here's why: 1. Feel free to copy this look with items you already have in your closet. 2. I announced that I'm losing my job a couple weeks ago, so my budget will actually be decreasing drastically. Yay for being more creative on less budget! 3. I don't own the clothes you see here. 4. The event I'm doing, there will be 25% off storewide, so you won't need to pay any of the prices listed here. 5. If those prices are still to high for you... well, I am an EXPERT at finding things on sale at Banana, so if there is something you would like to find on sale, shoot me a message and I'm happy to help!

  11. Thanks everyone for the kind words!!

Meret, thank you for the encouragement, I appreciate it!

Laura, I think I should have put a disclaimer on the post that I didn't pay these prices (or expect anyone else to!). It's definitely a balance between providing great content and outfits that people want to see, and not having much money to do it! Taking pics at Banana seemed like a win-win. :-)

  13. j I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE YOUR BLOG! I'm so happy for you in all of your success! I never used to shop in banana republic because I thought it was too pricey but I have been following you for the past couple of months, (I literally come into work in the morning and check you blog FIRST THING!) and you have inspired so many of my outfits. You have such a positive outlook on so many things that the average person would take negatively. Your awesome!

  15. I LOVE Banana Republic and have to add that you NEVER have to buy anything at full price. Join their mailing list because they have sales at LEAST two or three times a month. I buy their latest items all the time for 30-40% off.

J -- thank you for your blog!! My problem is that I buy great pieces, but have such a hard time putting them together. I saw the sweater in store and wasn't a huge fan, but love it on you! Definitely reconsidering...

    Thanks!

  17. I LOVE this outfit! The ruffle top makes everything cute! Quick question, instead of a skirt can you wear this outfit with a dark skinny jeans?

  18. J, I apologize for the confusion! What I meant to say was can I pull off wearing a dark denim skinny jeans for this outfit instead of a skirt?

Up above was the comment I sent.

  19. Anonymous, I definitely think you could wear this with dark skinny jeans! Some other options would be black skinny jeans or dark gray/black dress pants! :-)
