Today's Everyday Fashion: Child's Play

Inspiration: J.Crew

This is the first time I've ever used a child's outfit as inspiration. I feel absolutely no shame because inspiration is inspiration no matter where you find it, and - how cute is her outfit?! I've been craving my favorite lavender skinnies from last year, so I tried a periwinkle top and trench to somewhat mimic the photo first, and then creativity took a left turn and I wound up with a pink monochromatic version as well. Would you wear purple jeans? Which outfit do you like more?

  10. No judgement in using a children's photo for inspiration, her outfit is adorable! I love your more adult version with the trench coat and those shoes. It looks amazing and the pastel colors look so Spring-time!

  11. Actually, my favorite is the pink version! It looks so femenine and chic... but the trench/blue combo is also great! I used to think that too much colored jeans would be repetitive, but now I think I need at least, a lavender ones... well... maybe a mint ones too!

  12. I just wish they made that tiny coat she's wearing in the inspiration pic in adult sizes! Something about it (maybe the collar?) really stands out to me and I LOVE it.

  13. Love it!!! My husband is always complaining that he wants what my son wears but for adult men. It's quite funny. I told him i could buy similar styles but he wouldn't wear them.

  20. my lavender jeans are probably my favorite, so yes, definitely wear and recommend purple jeans! there is nothing wrong with taking fashions cues from kids when it comes to color - they wear colors with no fear. i like both color tops with the jeans, and the pink blazer is fun :)
