Today's Everyday Fashion: The Quirky Sweater

Inspiration: Harper's Bazaar

Proof I wore this outside. Facial expression optional.

Mother Nature has decided to give us December weather in March this year, so my response? How about a quirky sweater to lighten the mood. My inspiration photo is not meant to be a literal translation, but rather it was somewhere in the depths of my subconscious that the photo both whispered to me to want to own it, and motivated me to wear it with pink jeans. The light pink jeans with nude pumps is great for a more dressy occasion, and the darker jeans and ankle boots is what I wore for brunch last weekend. Quirky sweaters: yay or nay? Which outfit do you prefer?

  2. In love with quirky sweaters and how many different prints they come in. I think either pant would work but I think the hot pink ones are a tad better, I love the sweater though!

  6. Gotta feel sorry for a girl who takes a pair of skinny jeans and makes them look baggy. I like the outfit. But not the figure in it. And I like the darker pink jeans with your sweater.

  7. I prefer the light pink jeans...something about the darker pink seems too "matchy" with the pink in the sweater. I'm not big on the quirky sweater, but I could get on board with one like the Madewell with the anchors on it.

  8. I love the light pink combo, it looks sweet and classic... right now, it's also december here in Mexico and I'm planning to wear my pink sweatshirt today so maybe I'll follow you and match it with pink jeans!

  10. I guess it all depends on the type of quirky sweater. I'm a sucker for anything anchor and so the anchor sweater you have pictured has me convinced I like quirky but I'm really not a fan of the others (except maybe for the other J Crew sweater). So I guess I'm not sure! Haha. I do like your first outfit better, though!

  14. I know I live in Florida as well, when I woke up this morning I was like 'where did this weather come from?!' it's kind of nice though I like having as much cool weather as possible before it becomes unbearably hot! I am in love with your sweater, the pattern and colors are adorable!

  16. I LOVE a quirky sweater; they're always so much fun! I think I like the first outfit better just because of the play on colors rather than being so match-y :)

  18. I attempted to take photos outside, only shot 2 "test" shots, of which I never make a serious face for... and then gave up on the whole operation. So that is pretty much the extent of that photo shoot haha. :-)

  19. I think I like the darker jeans with the sweater. I'm not sure I like the booties though...maybe some leopard flats? or boat shoes even? But I love the "look, i really wore it outside" pic! It made me giggle!!

  24. Love the outfit, but I am really concerned for the girl in your inspo pic. I realize that some people are just uber skinny, but she looks a bit unhealthy....

  26. Although I have only a very few "Novelty Sweaters," I think Novelty Sweaters are really cute, particularly if they're also then well-styled, too, (e.g., like yours is here)!! Your dressier version might also look nice with your MiKel Maia Crystal White Moonstone Briolette Earrings, (i.e., just to complement your pink jeans!!); and maybe even different *neutral* jeans/skirts could specifically highlight your sweater's............ abstract *taupe* designs, too!!

This "I Love Novelty Sweaters" link, (directly Below)----from "Houseof Bamboo" on Pinterest----is so much fun to look at!! Near page bottom, particularly see (famous!) elegant model Evelyn Tripp's *gorgeous*, vintage, high-fashion outfit on the RIGHT, J. ............ but then think contemporary bodycon dress; and neon sweater with metallic embroidery instead, haha!!:
