Today's Everyday Fashion: Airport Style

You wake up at 3:30am, spend eight hours flying and are planning to site-see in San Francisco as soon as you land - what do you wear? This was what I rocked for that very occasion on Tuesday. It was a little chilly when I arrived so I added a cardigan under my jacket, but otherwise I felt comfy, casual but still stylish. I covered my tired eyes with my favorite Banana aviators and I was ready to rock (SF is gorgeous by the way, wish I could've stayed longer!).

Also: I re-enforced the large hole in these jeans with an iron-on patch (like this one). It is one of my favorite tricks for keeping distressing in tact and not allowing any skin to show through!

Jacket: Gap, $52 (similarsimilarsimilarsimilarsimilar)

Belt: H&M, $20

  2. This is a great outfit for any day! I love the Journey tee especially.

  3. That looks like a very comfortable outfit! I love ankle boots because they give a little bit of height, aren't quite as casual as flats, but are still comfortable enough to walk in for hours.

  5. I love your Journey tee! I also do a lot of traveling and I think my biggest piece of advice would be to wear a pair of shoes that you can easily slip on and off and definitely to throw on a few light layers.

  6. Gosh I need an army jacket! I ordered one from Forever 21 -- too small. I need to live closer to a mall.

  7. Love the T-shirt! Thanks for the tip on the jeans- I am wanting to destruct a pair of my jeans but don't want them to end up in shreds after a couple of washes. Going to do do your patch idea for sure :)

  12. I love this outfit J! It look casual and effortless but still very put together. I'm thinking that I need to add some dark distressed denim into my wardrobe :).

  16. 1- So glad you enjoyed The Bay! I live in Oakland and was ridiculously happy to hear you made it out to visit the area. Silly, but I felt like a friend was in town. :)
2- I'm headed to the airport in 2 hours (Vegas, Baby!) and laughed when I saw your outfit, I'm wearing almost exactly the same thing. I've been reading your blog for over a year, it must have soaked in!
    3- You're the best.

  18. Super cute and comfy outfit!! I always try and wear as little as possible (sounds worse than I mean it to) i.e. no belts, no jewelry, no hassels for going in and out of security :)

  19. I'm right near SF!  It is always chilly in SF but about the same temp. But if you venture further away (like even 30 min) then the weather changes a little more. What brought you out here?

  20. Kris do you have a blog? (see my comment. I'm near SF too. I'm in Sunnyvale.  http://scrapandrun.blogspot.com/)

  21. Layering is great for plane rides because the weather can be really different while getting on and off the plane. The military jacket is a neutral shade so it's really easy to wear.

  24. Love the travel practical outfit. Comfy but stylish at the same time. Hope you're having fun. SF is one of my favourite cities in the US. So much to see and the food......oh, the food!

  25. I have put my big toe through a pair of distressed denims recently. I really need to mend them, so I wonder if you could elaborate on how you patched up your knee hole! TIA!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Absolutely, happy to help! I turn the jeans inside out, and cut the patch to the correct size (make it plenty big). Then simply iron it on, let it cool, turn the jeans back and you are ready to wear them!

  27. Thanks so much for your reply!! I managed to get hold of some iron on mending fabric on Saturday, actually I bought a denim pack for the jeans and a plain cotton one, for patching up holes on other garments too. :) xx

  28. I picked up the patches you linked, but I'm trying to determine which would be the best color to use. I did the small, beige-colored patch for some of the smaller distressed spots, but I'm not sure if that would look too weird under the largest hole at my knee - debating between beige and white for that area. Which do you use, J?

  29. Jen, i believe I've always used true white for denim. It tends to match the color of the distressed strings and blends in pretty well!
