Today's Everyday Fashion: Crochet Peplum

This is what I wore for a long, action-packed day this weekend including lunch out, letting a friend use my vehicle to move furniture, and a family birthday dinner. Pictures were taken in the backyard before dinner (I love the orange grove!), and when my photographer kept shooting after I said stop, I started goofing off and I wound up liking the candid shots even better. :-) This new top is one of the prettiest things I've ever had the privilege to wear. Crochet lace + peplum, plus my favorite kind of denim (distressed) and my favorite kind of pump (nude) = well, pretty much one of my favorite outfits ever. What are your absolute favorite styles that you come back to over and over again?

Top: Lily + Violet c/o (C. Russe, F21)
Jeans: American Eagle, $33
Nude pumps: Enzo Angiolini/Piperlime, $32
Necklace: My Stella & Dot, $118
Purse: Michael Kors, Santa
Rings: My Stella & Dot 1, 2, 3
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot 1, 2, 3

  17. I will add a Pin It button to the post, but in the meantime - did you know that by hitting ANY "Pin It" button on the blog, it will let you pin all the pictures from the blog? For example, my outfit post from Saturday - just click the "Pin It" button and it gives you the option to pin today's outfit.

  25. What a pretty top! I think the necklace gets lost in it, and that you could easily do without and still have an awesome outfit.

  31. Oh, J! Gorgeous, as usual! That top actually reminds me of my wedding dress, the one I shredded in the hopes of remaking into a dress one day (took off the seven layers of tulle and kept the bodice). Perhaps I can refashion it as a top? Thanks once again for inspiring me!

  40. Your crochet lace peplum top is simply *s.t.u.n.n.i.n.g.* on you!! At your shoulders/neckline; and along the bottom hemline, too, I just love how you can really see............ the *beautiful PATTERN* of the lace!! Although your ivory bib necklace doesn't "boldly stand out" against your white lace top, I sometimes think that wearing mostly monochromatic jewelry, with maybe just "a touch" of colorful jewelry----(e.g., like your pretty green link bracelet!!)----for, say, a Birthday Party then allows "The Birthday Person" to............ really *shine* instead, i.e., without being upstaged!! (Also, the rich~~and very refined~~"textural luxury" of white-on-white is really hard to top!!)

P.S.: What totally *fun* outdoor pictures!! I have to admit, though, that----(on the person's property across from your family's backyard, with all the oranges on the ground in the orange grove)----the first thing I thought of was how all those poor kids in the orphanage in Sierra Leona would probably............ just *scramble* to pick them up; and eat them!! I (honestly) think your Mission Trip in July, 2012, made me even more "attuned," J., not only to the terrible deprivation/suffering in the world; but also to the amount of food all around us----(sometimes, even literally on the ground, too, like oranges!!)----that's often simply wasted every day. In some of the (one-on-one) charitable work that I do, I sometimes think of "your kids" in the orphanage; and doing so............ genuinely *inspires* me (to continue my charitable work), you know.
