Today's Everyday Fashion: Concert Chic

Inspiration: Windsor Store

I have a serious thing for concert tees: Madonna, Journey, Springsteen. Which is ironic because I don't really like concerts.* Some friends have speculated that it's because I get claustrophobic in crowds, or I can't sit still for long, or maybe I'm just not cool enough for the concert scene. For now, I will continue rocking on vicariously through the clothes on my back, like today's concert tee meets camo-and-other-sparkly-things combination. What kind of concerts do you like to attend? Do you wear concert tees?

*Full disclosure: I have attended Kelly Clarkson and Ludacris concerts (not on the same night) and really enjoyed both of them. I also love the ballet.

  5. Great look! I love how I've seen all the pieces in this look before, but the look itself makes all the pieces new again.

  6. I'm not huge on concerts - I don't like crowds and since I'm short, as soon as people stand, I can't see a darn thing. As for concert tees...I'm pretty sure I'm way too old to be wearing them (32). Cute for other people, but not for me.

  10. I love the term concert chic, as well as the way you have embraced it with camo and leather. I attended a lot of concerts before I realized that I don't like them at all: the music is too loud and it would take hours for my hearing to return to normal after each one, I'm relatively short, and cannot see once the crowd stands up (as they always do), they cost a lot of money, and the traffic afterwards is terrible. I think you are right that the best thing about a live concert is the tee shirt.

  11. I completely agree with you! I used to love going to see live shows with my friends when I was in high school but now you couldn't pay me to go to one! It's loud and people are sweaty, it's crowded and way too loud. Despite my negative feelings towards concerts I love your 'concert chic' look! It has an edgy rocker LA. feel to it!

  16. I just found your blog yesterday and love it so much! I would NEVER guess camo would look good with anything, but your outfit looks way better than your inspiration! And your jacket is fabulous. You somehow have an ability to make even your "edgy" looks feminine!

  17. I LOVE my Zara camo pants, I wear them a little too often I think. Thanks for the inspo on some new combinations! I haven't been to a concert in a very long time, but the best one I ever saw was Gym Class Heroes.

  18. I love band tees when they are used appropriately... one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone wears a band tee but doesn't like or listen to that band's music haha. Oh well, you look great as usual!! :)

  20. It's all about the graphic design for me - I don't like wearing brands like "Abercrombie" sprawled across my shirt, and classic album covers are often some of the best designs (imo) ever created. I had my Springsteen t-shirt for about 6 months before I had any idea it was music-related though. I just thought it was a cool American flag, lol! :-)

  21. I've had the shirt for a couple years now, and great minds think alike because I wore this Madonna t-shirt with cut-off denim shorts and ankle boots last summer!

  22. My friends have been raving about the Pink concert they went to, they loved it!

  23. As far as heels go, they are SO comfortable. One of my most comfy pairs.

  24. I totally agree with @google-a8c5f4a602b425de91825ee1231a987c:disqus - the camo pants listed from Kohl's are great!
I'm not sure how I feel about the outfit, for myself personally, but you look great, as always!

  27. If you're not wearing this to a concert, where would you where it? Did you wear it out?

  28. You look better than the inspiration photo - I love this, it's a very edgy look for you.

  29. I have worn different versions of this outfit 3-4 times - I wore it with a hot pink blazer and white t-shirt to a blogger meet up, a gray and black t-shirt for a Saturday night gathering with friends, and with a burgundy cardigan to a daytime meeting!

  30. I love indoor jazz concerts, the symphony, theater, and the ballet; so~~(IF I had all your pieces here!!)~~I could see how I might slightly modify your *really super* Concert Chic outfit for, say, an indoor jazz concert by just swapping the camo pants for burgundy jeans!!............ i.e., like your burgundy jeans in November 25, 2012's, blogpost, "Today's Everyday Fashion: Bad to Better":

    http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/11/todays-everyday-fashion-bad-to-better.html#.UUQG5TTJvAE.email

On the other hand, wearing burgundy jeans instead of camo pants might simply *highlight* Madonna's lips~~(color-wise, on the Madonna concert tee)~~but that's probably just............ "a MINOR price of fame" for her, (haha)!!

  31. how perfect your timing is! you must read minds. I am looking through my closet trying to figure out what to wear to a concert tonight and I thought "maybe I'll get some inspiration from J's page... and sure enough you're doing concert wear today! love it!!! I just don't know if I can stand that long in heels! We'll see :)

  32. I cannot tell you how effortlessly chic you look when you rock this style. You look amazing!

  35. Okay, this is one of my favorite outfits that you have worn. I love it. I have to say that each time you make an outfit with the camo, I love it.

I was going to splurge on a pair of colored jeans and I'm glad I did. I was able to get them from Lane Bryant for $25 because of an awesome sale and they look great. They are green. I plan to wear them with a navy and white striped blazer. I have not decided what color of shirt yet. I'm going to wear it to school this week. I'm excited.

  36. I love your look! Isn't the moto jacket great?? I just got the same one last month, it was definately a splurge but I considered it a classic/staple item every girl should have :)
