Today's Everyday Fashion: Jamberry

I was perusing my closet for outfit ideas for my new cobalt blazer yesterday, came up with this colorful ensemble, and it immediately reminded me of childhood book Jamberry. It's a book I loved as a kid about a bear looking for berries (I had to Google it to remember the name), and it's full of colorful illustrations that look good enough to eat. Did you ever read Jamberry as a kid? Would you wear this look?

Blazer: Forever 21, $30
Shirt: Limited, $15 (similar)
Skirt: Limited, $35 (similar, similar, similar)
Watch: Michael Kors, family gift
Earrings: My Stella & Dot, $34
Rings: My Stella & Dot 1, 2
Bracelets: My Stella & Dot 1, 2, 3, 4

Shoes

Also... I bought these bow shoes yesterday and had to share! Only $28, I love the Kate Spade vibe, and they have a built-in cushion that is dreamy. I also tried on the items below - kicking myself for not getting the camo shirt, and I bought the chambray (far right) dress but not sure if I'm keeping it yet!

  2. Those shoes are SO CUTE and I MUST HAVE THEM. My husband needs to go to Kohl's to get new jeans (he's just waiting for a new coupon to come in the mail), and I might have to ... er, tag along and sabotage the trip.

  3. I wish you bought the camo shirt too! I have one just like it and would like to see how you style it.

  5. What's the brand of the mint polka dot dress? I absolutely love it, it would look great for a wedding I'm going to this summer!

  7. I love the cobalt blue and berry color combo! I just bought a skirt that looks similar to the pattern on your shirt, I will have to try and pair it with these colors and see how it comes out!

  8. J, I love this look! I just bought a skirt that color and am excited to wear it. I also love the chambray dress, I think I may need that.

I'm wondering if you've ever bought anything/knew anyone who bought from the U.S. Dorothy Perkins website? There are some bad reviews of their customer service/shipping/returns online so I'm wondering if it's worth it!

  13. Never heard of Jamberry, but I love the color combo!

My favorite of the try-on items is definitely the polka dot dress, but I like the chambray dress too.  I have to say I'm glad you passed on the camo.

  14. This may be one of my all time faves of your creations.  Jamberry is a great children's book, by the way, for all of the young moms out there.  (I'm an old mom and retired school teacher.)  The camo shirt looks like you;  you should return the chambray dress and get it instead.  I don't wear camo, by the way, because I live near a large army post and see too much of it, but it looks great on you young people.

  15. Hi Kate - I've purchased from the UK Dorothy Perkins before the US site opened and they had fast shipping and great customer service...not sure if that helps :)

  16. I love the cobalt blue blazer! I'm looking to buy it but debating between a xs/s as they say it runs a half-size big. Do you mind sharing what size you bought, because I really like how it fits you. Thanks!

  17. I love the color combo!

I also just wanted to step by and let you know how much you have helped me with shopping! I am such a smarter shop now because I make wishlists and actually hunt for the items I'm lusting after instead of just buying what's on sale. I've even set a clothing budget! (My bf thinks its too many money to set aside, but what does he know ;)).

  20. Good to see someone else documenting while they shop. Sometimes you don't know until 2 weeks later that you loved those shoes ;-)  I love a good blazer in any coulor - the cobalt is a keeper.

  21. I just ordered this chambray dress from Old Navy - http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=3873960120000&cid=88295&locale=en_US  Just over $10 when I used a 30% off coupon code!  Can't wait for it to arrive... hope I like it in person!

Love the chambray dress you picked at Kohl's!  Pass on the polka-dot dress (looks short?).

  26. I LOVE this outfit.  I really love the color scheme, but I think I would've belt the skirt with a nude skinny belt.  The polka dot dress is really cute, by the way =)  I like the minty color <3

  32. I have the same purple skirt and love pairing it with a bright blue top.  The first time I came to school in the color combination however, I had this conversation with a student:

Student:  Ms. R, your outfit is reminding me of something, but I can't figure it out . .  Wait, I got it!  It's Barney.
    Me: (Stares in disbelief)
Student:  What? That's not a bad thing. Barney was an important influence in my childhood. I loved Barney
Me:  Did you just compare me to a purple dinosaur?
Student:  Actually, you look better than Barney.  You look like Barney's high class wife.

  34. Cute ON dress! I want to find something chambray polka dot soon. Definitely didn't get the mint polka dot. All wrong for my body type but SO cute for someone else.

  35. Kate, they sent me a dress (c/o) and it was a great experience. UK sizing is always a bit funny but the dress I picked out worked out well!

  39. Love the blazer color! I'm not too big on mixing these two colors but I do love wearing my cobalt blazer with either black (skirt/pants) or with other shades of blue. It's such a great, versatile piece!

  45. Do you mind if I ask what size you got from DP? I think we're similar sizes and I think I'd be a 2 there, but am wondering if that will be too small! Thanks for your help!

    ReplyDelete
  46. I'm usually a size 0/2, which means I would go for a size 6 at UK stores. But I plugged in my measurements into the Dorothy Perkins website and it gave me a size 4, so I ordered that and it was pretty close to perfect.
