Today's Everyday Fashion: Sophie Theallet for The Limited

I'm so excited to share these pictures with ya'll today! Limited got in touch a few weeks back and asked if I would show their navy and black lace Sophie Theallet dress and cardigan in two different looks - one for day and one for night. For day (above), I layered a collared shirt and the cardigan, then added black tights and ankle boots to make the dress more conservative. For night (below), I went glam with a jeweled belt and matching accessories, perfect for upcoming Valentine's Day. I've always been a fan of navy + black, and I'm loving the lace trend right now so this was a fun dress to wear, and I enjoyed experimenting with different photography. Which look do you like better? How would you wear this dress?

  4. Such a pretty dress! I definitely like it for the evening look.  Simplicity is better with such a feminine dress like this.  Heather

  6. Beautiful combos! I love how the daytime outfit with layers and tights is office-approved, then the evening version is sexy without showing too much skin a'la Church Street haha. Wonderful dress, great job styling!

  7. Loooove the dress and even more how you styled it, great job J (well, as usual :) ) I really love both looks, each is perfect for a different occasion, love how you toned it down with a button down shirt so it looks like a lace skirt, and love how you accessorised it for the evening version, so pretty :) I bet Limited is very pleased with your presentation of the dress :)

  8. I love looking at your blog.  You are quiet creative when putting outfits together.  Any suggestions for the not so creative person who is a teacher.

  9. It looks great!  I love the dress by itself for a dressy occasion.  I like how you showed it can be worn during the day.  I would have never thought of it.

  10. I love both looks.  If I HAD to choose a favorite, I'd probably choose the nighttime, but the dress is quite versatile!  I love wearing dresses as skirts and making them look completely different.

  11. First of all, I love that bracelet! I like the second, more elegant look better.  I think it would look dynamite paired with a black and white tuxedo-type blazer. The structure of the blazer would offset the femininity of the lace.

  14. Not to be rude, but it's so nice to see you in something pretty and feminine that isn't trying so hard like all your short skirts, tight pencil and skinny jeans.  Just saying ...

  20. The dress is pretty and I enjoy seeing the two ways to wear it.  It was mentioned that the ankle boots in the first showing was added to give more of a conservative look and then with the second look pumps where shown.  I would swap the shoes as the pumps would be more conservative and be more of an office look.  The boots look more young and ready to go party as with the dress in the second look.  That is just me.

  21. You look amazing J! You really look good in both looks.

  22. I love the sheer black lace over the navy blue lining of your dress, but 'can't choose between the two outfits............ i.e., both are simply beautiful, J.!!    Your black SELF-BELT with your black collared shirt............ (i.e., for subtle waist-cinching/definition and for *tonal texture*)............ then your (forever-knockout!!) black velvet JEWELED BELT............ (i.e., which complements your double-drop rhinestone-and-black-stone earrings, as in October 28, 2010's post, too!!)............ both, in my opinion, just stylishly "ground" your two *great* outfits with Sophie Theallet's Lace Dress!!

Incidentally, is your lovely Cardigan the regular "Sophie Theallet Cardigan";  or the special "Sophie Theallet  V.a.l.e.n.t.i.n.e.  Cardigan"?    The #2 links (Above) lead TO the regular Cardigan;  but it looks like there might possibly be (?) some black contrast-trim *bands* on the sleeves and hem of your blue Cardigan, (which is a feature of Limited's current, special "Sophie Theallet  V.a.l.e.n.t.i.n.e.  Cardigan.")

  24. I like the daytime outfit because I would totally wear that to work! :) But I love the nighttime one as well. Both are great! I'm curious about the cardigan though - the one you linked to looks a LOT different on Limited's website than it does on you. Also, is your collared shirt black? Love love love! :)

  25. Yep, the collared shirt is black! :-) And thank you for the heads up - I just switched the link on the cardigan!

  28. I bought this dress for $30 today, sooooooo happy about it. I'm little shorter than you so the hem hits at my knee. Wearing it to a wedding, now just have to find a pretty belt to go with it

  29. Such a great deal Natasha!! Might I suggest one of the bow belts in today's post?!
