November Wish List
I haven't been shopping in ages, and most of last month's and this month's budget is still unspent. I'm hoping to hit up the mall next week, and part of my shopping "prep" always involves a good amount of browsing online first. I do this to get the lay of the land - find out what stores are carrying items on my wish list, compare prices, and set priorities for which stores I'd like to visit first. Then I use what I've learned to spend the majority of my budget in-store, because prices are often much lower in stores than online, and that way you can try things on. Here's what I found in preparation for my next shopping trip!
1. Limited - It's been three years since I bought a coat (I usually wear blazers as coats since I live in Florida now). I'll wait until coats go on clearance this winter, but this one is a major contender. My current pea coat is off-white, so I'll be on the lookout for cobalt, navy or camel.
2. Revolve - I'm dying for a colorful sweater coat like this one! It's perfect; I just need to find a lower price.
3. J.Crew - I try not to torture myself by shopping on J.Crew's website very often, but I happened to spot this blazer the other day and I'm obsessed. Here's hoping shopping fate brings me one on sale.
4. Banana Republic - I already have a navy blazer, but I love this one so much that it might be time to update, and sell the old one. I love the buttons!!
5. Lola Cruz - I'm on the hunt for Valentino look-alikes. These are the best ones I've found so far.
6. American Eagle - Mint skinnies are way high on my wish list this fall/winter!
7. Gap - Totally adorable and works for all seasons. Wear with red pumps in the spring/summer, and tights and boots in the fall/winter.
8. Old Navy - Off-white corduroy pants are an excellent way to wear "white" in the winter. Can't wait to add these or a similar pair to my closet this year.
9. Forever 21 - I'm hoping to track down this navy and off-white baseball tee at Forever 21. I've got a bunch of outfit ideas in mind for one just like it.
I'm also hoping to find a black leather handbag, black motorcycle boots and something camouflage this year. What's on your winter wish list?

Banana Republic just put the navy blue blazer on clearance this week in stores. I got one Monday and love it!!
ReplyDeleteI have that shirt from Forever 21. Excited to see what kind of outfits you have in mind.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog!
ReplyDeletelove that revolve sweater!

The Lola Cruz shoes are a fun and unique addition. You could get tons of wear out of those! I have been on the hunt for a pair of affordable flat cognac riding boots, but no luck yet. Heather
ReplyDeleteI hope you get the mint skinnies, soon, so I can see how you style them for winter! I love mine from JCrew (on clearance now)
ReplyDeleteI'm with Lori! I looooove my mint skinnies, but figured they were a Spring/Summer deal. I would love to see how you would do them up for the colder months! Happy Shopping! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Valentino look-a-likes are for me! I cross my ankles under my desk constantly and I know it would scuff them up like crazy because of the pyramids. I recently just bought a wedge that I thought was fine but the buckle is scratching up the other shoe. I cross my ankles mindlessly (hello, debutante training...)
ReplyDeleteI really want to lose some weight and shop my own closet! I've gain a few since and am only using about half my wardrobe. Not cool.
My winter wish list: a chambray shirt and at least 2 more flannel ones (I only have 1 right now). I am also going to invest in some nice sweaters, since all I have are cardigans at the moment. And a nice pair of black boots!
ReplyDeleteWine and forest green skinnies! And I'm having a heck of a time finding flattering ones. Also a navy blazer, but I don't like that Banana one. I'm hoping for a thrift store option because the old ones are made so much better. Already in November I scooped up a Coach Court bag and a full-length tan trench with a zip-out lining at thrift stores and what would have cost me about $500 new suddenly cost $55. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteWow you are one lucky girl!!' I need to go shopping with you, :) the more you sVe the Bette you feel about shopping... Good work!
DeleteMy Winter wish list would include a sweater like you showed, 20 pounds lost, and being a diabetic, getting through Thanksgiving and Christmas in one piece. Oh and those shoes too.
ReplyDeleteShare if you find any great black motorcycle boots!

Hi J, I was wondering where do you sell your slightly used clothing? I've tried to sell stuff at Plato's Closet before but they are so picky about what they take! Any other suggestions? Thanks! Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more about those valentinos!

I adore that multi printed cardigan!
ReplyDeleteLove the printed cardigan! Still not sure about the Valentino look-a-likes. I see a lot of people have them but I've never been a "pointy-toe" lover. All that aside, they seem like they are really well done!

Love that polkadot dress!! Very cute. I have nothing on my wish list because I can't afford anything right now haha :)

If you are dying to have to cobalt blue peacoat from The Limited, I have a coupon for %50 off item that starts November 26th if you want it. I work there and have already exceeded my budget so I won't be needing it. Let me know if you are interested :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so thoughtful Chelsey! I can usually find winter stuff for a steal here in Florida so I'm going to hope for a clearance price. Thanks so much for the offer though!
ReplyDeleteI agree - I would love to wear sequin dress for NYE this year!
ReplyDeleteChristy, I do clothing sales online and I either use my Facebook page or Threadflip. You can also try eBay!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brittany! Be sure to tweet me (@jseverydayfash) and I'll RT the link for ya!
ReplyDeleteJust saw that exact baseball tee at h&m, wish i would have bought it, now im going back..lol!
ReplyDeleteFYI I was at a mall yesterday and saw there was a PacSun going out of business. Not a store I usually shop at, but stopped in and they had some sweaters similar to #2 and everything's on clearance since store's closing. Happy shopping:)
ReplyDeleteI like that polka dot dress, and you're right! It is pretty versatile! I'm on the lookout for some nude pumps, a dressy coat, a chunky necklace, and a gold-colored ring. I also wouldn't mind finding some flattering sweaters. (Keyword: flattering. Somehow, sweaters always make me look bulky or flabby!)
ReplyDeleteHere is a cheaper price for your #2 choice http://shoptherage.com/collections/frontpage/products/grand-canyon-cardi
ReplyDeleteCant wait to see how you style that baseball tee! Love your blog, thanks for all the inspiration! I got my moto boots from jessica simpson last year, love them and get ton of compliments. I found some on her website pretty similar if you like... http://www.jessicasimpson.com/product/essence+black+bellucci+boots.do?sortby=ourPicks
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that pea coat by the limited but I live in Texas and its TOO hot to wear that, I would probably only wear it once or twice since it doesn't get that cold or cold for long time! :(
I love the concept of winter white. Looking forward to seeing outfits with white pants!
ReplyDeleteGood for you for carrying over your budget! Also waiting for items to go on sale is a great way to get what you want at a lower price! Love the Lola Cruz heels! So stylish and unique! I also love the coat, would love it in camel color! Happy Shopping, can't wait to see what you find!

These are awesome picks! If you're looking for peacoats, I saw some at Old Navy & they currentl yhave a 50% off outerwear sale going on that I featured on my blog's Sale of the Week. Also, that polka dor dress is a must-have. When you get it, I'd love to see how you style it!
ReplyDeleteSkinny corduroys are definitely on my list this season! I am also on the lookout for some cute blazers
ReplyDeleteFell in love with the polka dot dress at first glance! An hour later, Gap emails me a 40% today only coupon! Score!!
ReplyDeleteI would love to find a Valentino look alike too! Dying for shoes like that. I also want a sequin dress for New Year's/Holiday's. And some booties or motorcycle boots.
ReplyDeleteI do this too. I find that if I go shopping without a clue as to what I'm looking for I either a) leave with more things I meant to get and having spent more than I planned or b) being completely overwhelmed and leaving with nothing. Neither situation is good! If I decide what's on my wishlist before hand, I know how much to budget and I only get the things my wardrobe is longing for!

Your wish list just became mine! LOVE the cobalt jacket!
ReplyDeleteI want the polka dot dress! Now! lol
ReplyDeleteJ, I was just at HM this morning and I believe they JUST started their big holiday sale.. I tried on a lovely pair of off-white corduroy pants for just $20. They had a ton at my location (in Michigan), and seemed like decent quality!
ReplyDeleteThere are Valentino look-alikes on ShoeDazzle, but unfortunately they're almost all sold out. Hopefully they still have your size though!

OMG J!!!! I, just like you, are lusting over those studded Valentino shoes and would kill for a look-alike. I am so loving that you found one! Thanks for doing all the hard work. :) As for #2 (the print cardigan) I saw a few online at Forever 21 that were cute and I just bought a very delicate one at Nordstrom Rack for $20. Score! Love your list. :)

Love love love the cobalt blue coat, somehow I can see it with the mint color jeans.
ReplyDeleteJust so you know. Old navy has a TON of baseball tees. All different colors too. Cheap!
ReplyDeleteGap has the best camo skinnies I've seen.
ReplyDeleteOld Navy and Gap are the places to go for the straight black jeans, Gap also has some burgundy skinny cords.
ReplyDeleteI am lusting for mint skinnies SO badly, this year but its hard to find just the right colour! Ill be checking out ae this weekend; thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDeleteLove the blue jacket! :)

No problem!
ReplyDeleteUrban Outfitters has a few sweaters similar to #2. I just wore a black/white version yesterday!
ReplyDeleteLOVE that polka dot dress. I wonder why AE stopped carrying a wide variety of colored skinnies :-/
ReplyDeleteLove the Lola Cruz shoes...so Valentino. These are such great items. For the winter, I hope to get a good quality bag in a cognac/luggage colour and a pair of cap-toe heels.
ReplyDeleteI love the cut of that J Crew blazer - I can't tell you how many times I've gone to their site and pondered buying it (they seem to rotate the colors, depending on the season). I can never bring myself to spend the $$ (even after 30% off) - curious to see if you somehow miraculously score a deal in the actual store - good luck!
ReplyDeleteso pretty and amazing. perfumehk.com
ReplyDeleteCharming Charlie has #2 the colorful sweater for $40!
ReplyDeleteThank you Beth! It's actually the exact same sweater and I ordered it today!! :-)
ReplyDeleteBecky I tried those on and I was not a fan! I was so excited when I found them, too. I'm hoping for something looser and less stretchy.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I will check there, thanks Jen.
ReplyDeleteSo tempted to buy these Miranda!! WIsh they still had them in black!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up! I'm going to check this out for sure!
ReplyDeleteomg if you a talking about selling the navy blazer from loft featured on previous post, I would totally be interested in purchasing it!
ReplyDeleteI totally bought the old navy version of #7 in kelly green. Jazzed it up with my brown riding boots and brown leather Ralph Lauren belt. Its my new fav out fit.
ReplyDeleteKohls has a really cute, colorful tribal sweater at a great price!
ReplyDeleteJ, Thanks for sharing your list with us. I checked out #7 (the polka dot dress from the Gap) and discovered I had $40 in unused credits at The Gap. Coupled with a current Friends & Family code and free shipping a since I'm a card holder, I paid a total of $5.36 for the exact same dress dress!!! Yahoo!
ReplyDeleteApril, aw thanks! The one from LOFT is actually a thick wool coat. My navy blazer is the schoolboy one from Gap with gold buttons!
ReplyDeleteLove it when that happens! Great score Elaine!
ReplyDeleteHow often do you sell your clothes and where/how do you sell them?
ReplyDeleteLove your stye!

ReplyDeleteI do closet sales a couple times a year for nicer items, and donate the rest to Goodwill. I use my Facebook page, or Threadflip for the sales!
ReplyDeleteThe southwestern sweater can be found at Bluetique Cheap Chic! It is on campus at Miami University in Oxford, OH. They have a facebook page and I'm pretty sure they can send things out..
ReplyDeleteA recent Wendy'sLookBook post linked to these Valentino look-alikes: http://www.shopbop.com/fiona-pointy-toe-strap-high/vp/v=1/845524441951769.htm?folderID=2534374302173158&colorId=44404&extid=affprg-4441350#reviewsArea . Still pricey, so stacking some shopbop discounts could be in order. :)
ReplyDeleteThis blue coat at Limited is 70% off (so on sale for $60).
