Today's Everyday Fashion: Summer to Fall

I waited until the last minute to pack for Kansas and one of the shortcuts I relied on was to make a favorite summer outfit appropriate for chilly fall weather. I wore look #3 this summer, and simply switched the bottom to black jeans and boots, and added a navy wool coat (look #1), to make it cold-weather appropriate. It's a great way to re-wear your favorite outfits with enough of a spin to make them feel new again. What are some favorite summer outfits that will work for you this fall/winter?

  3. I actually really prefer your fall versions!

  4. I wear a lot of boots and tights to extend my dresses throughout the winter. And a long coat does wonders!

  5. Great transition outfits!! Tights and boots definitely extend the life of skirts and dresses but otherwise there's nothing better than a warm coat to keep you cozy :)

  7. Love your military and sequins combo , today I bought a jacket really similar to the last one you  pictured,( J.Crew), only it's quilted, has a belt and upper pockets have zippers instead of flaps. I posted a photo and elaborated some more on your fb page ;)

  9. This is a great trick and I love all three versions of the outfit! I was thinking about this yesterday actually as I wore leggings, a mini skirt, a tank top and sweater. I was thinking okay, so in the summer when I'm bored because I can't do too much layering, could I work with something here? Answer: not so much. Fall/winter laying FTW.

  10. I've tried to transition some of my clothes from summer to fall but it never works out this well. Love the middle outfit the most...the sequins and military jacket go so well together :)

I wear a lot of my summer sun dresses in the fall and winter by adding a cardigan, tights, boots and some fun accessories.

  12. I love how you did minor tweaks to a base outfit to make it work throughout the seasons.  I think this is a great tip for stretching out wardrobe items without having to run out and buy new clothes.  One item which I have been wearing into the colder months are my coloured jeans.  My bright red ones were a staple this summer, here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/08/summer-suiting-chic-in-paris.html,but by pairing it with a darker colour palette, I have been able to wear them in the colder months, here: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/11/casual-fall-attire-red-black-and-grey.html

  13. The very first thing I thought of was the phrase "Natural Progression"............ (i.e., like "The Natural Progression" Of Events;  or "The Natural Progression" Of A Relationship;  or, for healthcare workers, "The Natural Progression" Of An Illness!!)............ except your #3 very stylish outfits here are............ "The Natural Progression" Of (your wearing) A Gold Sequin-Embellished Tank Through #3 Seasons!!

Naturally-progressing WITH your *pretty* sequin tank, J., (i.e., in the Above triple-shot, from RIGHT-to-LEFT)............ first, through Summer............ then through Fall............ then now, in (almost!!) Winter............ you've ADDED and/or SUBSTITUTED just the right pieces to make your sequin tank Season-appropriate through #3 Seasons!!    *G.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.*,  very wearable styling!!

  14. The sequin top is adorable with the military jacket.  Love that your jacket looks very lightweight.

I love the look of sequins but I am always afraid 1: it itches and 2. they will fall off.

  22. I bought a pair of boots like your short boots (they dip down in the front) and I LOVE them, but have yet to figure out quite how to wear them with pants...do you have any advice????

  23. Lacey, do they look like mine? I have tons of pictures posted with them over the past month with pants if so! That hopefully will give you some ideas. Sometimes there is a little gap and sometimes my pants bunch up slightly and I don't mind either one bit. I like the "not perfectness" of it!

  24. Love the green jacket :) Layering is great for fall! Easy and cute!
