Erika Barker Photography

I'm so excited to share the amazing, talented Erika Barker Photography with you today! I asked Erika to snap some head shots for branding my new website and Facebook page, and this was the result. Our session was fast, and my favorite part - she sat me down and immediately showed me all the pictures. I was beyond happy. She has a graphic design background and is a photo editing whizz, but the pictures already looked awesome without it! (I asked her to please keep them as real/natural as possible.) She is a genius and her rates are incredibly reasonable (book now before she becomes famous!), so visit the Erika Barker Photography website and Facebook page the next time you or anyone in Orlando needs portrait or fashion photography. Now comes the hard part - deciding which pictures to use for branding! Which one(s) do you like?

Dress Calvin Klein/TJ Maxx, $50 (similar), watch Michael Kors, earrings local boutique, rings my Stella & Dot website $49 and $69 and bracelets $79 and $32 and $59 and $59.

  55. Beautiful pictures! I have a fall fashion question. I have a pair of black peep toe pumps that I wear in spring and summer. Is it ok to wear those same black peep toe heels with black tights for the fall? I thought it may be a good way to stretch my budget and not have to buy another pair of blacks heels.

  72. #1)  Well, both my sweet husband----(who happens to be a longtime  a.m.a.t.e.u.r.  photographer, which is why I *asked* his opinion, this time, haha!!)----and I like Photo #7 (fifth from the bottom)............ because "7" is............ a Lucky Number!!    ('Just kidding!!)

Seriously, though, with the full-face, direct-front-gaze shot in Photo #7, you look like you could almost immediately ENGAGE in a *Fashion Conversation* with either a client  OR  with an interviewer!!    Your up-close-and-"personal -ess" in this shot, (which really IS "you," J.!!)............. is what actually separates YOU from many, many OTHER Fashion Bloggers............ i.e., your INTENSELY Personal Budget -wise "approach"............ with your always indicating (thankfully!!)  *e.x.a.c.t.l.y.*  how much your outfit pieces really  *c.o.s.t.*............ and, additionally, how you UNFAILINGLY "Keep It Real" not only online............ but also by even (literally!!) getting down on your hand-and-KNEES, too, in your clients' closets............ (i.e., "Shopping Their Closets")............ for surprisingly New And *Fresh* Pairings!!

Although I'm incredibly photography-illiterate myself, I could maybe see your *relaxed*, (full-face, direct-front-gaze) "Conversational Photo #7"............ in the FOREGROUND, (i.e., of a shot for your new website and Facebook page)............ and in the BACKGROUND, a very *relaxed*, full-body, head-to-toe, hands-on-hips, Fashion Photo of you, (i.e., as in the second-from-the-last photo, with your hands on your hips, which - again - really IS "you," J.!!)

#2)  So, my 2 cents' worth is to EDIT the photos so that............ on Erika's *lovely*, very SOFT-FOCUS green background, way-up-in Photo #1............ then have, (in the foreground), your relaxed, "Conversational Photo #7" to one side............ then, either to the right or to the left of that----(and midway in the background, i.e., not-too-far-back/not-too-close-up!!)----have your relaxed, "Full-Body, Head-to-Toe, Hands-on-Hips" Photo!!

Subsequently, If I'd look  *A.T.*  Erika's carefully-edited "collage shot" like that----(i.e., on your new website and Facebook page!!)----I'd just say this to myself, right away, I know:
"I think I could  REALLY  *T.A.L.K.*  TO  J."............ (because of your direct-gaze photo!!)............ and it also really looks like  SHE'D  *W.O.R.K.*  WITH  ME,  too"............ (because of your head-to-toe, hands-on-hips Fashion Photo!!)............ "about the  TOTAL  WRECK  that both my wardrobe and closet are!!"    (Haha!!)

  73. I like the close-up shots with you looking into the camera. I feel like you're super personable and friendly on your blog and in your videos, and the close-ups give that same sort of connection with the viewer.

  74. Great pictures! I love your blog! Side comment: do you have any idea when MJR Sales will be back up and running? I found out about them through your blog and am eager to shop when they come back from hiatus. Thanks, J!

  75. Absolutely stunning! You look beautiful and that dress is GORGEOUS!

    ReplyDelete
  76. They are all beautiful. But my favorite for marketing is the waist up shot in front of the fountain. It looks like the most friendly and genuine smile. They others, though lovely, look a little too forced. For just a headshot, I like the first of the two you posted on a white background, with your head slightly tilted. New marketing is always so fun :)

  77. Thanks Molly! I haven't talked to them but I agree - I miss shopping there! I will let you know if I hear any updates.
