Today's Everyday Fashion: Work and Play

I was so excited to find this inspiration photo of my same H&M pants! Excited because I would have never thought of wearing these pants with flats and a t-shirt. My first instincts were definitely work attire and high heels (see below), but I love being able to wear these casually too. I wound up getting a smaller size since my original post, which fixed the loose waistband and allowed me to wear them this way - I wouldn't have been able to tuck in a shirt before. I'm surprised how much I like this look though and think a loose racerback tank (like this one) would also work well. Would you wear printed pants casually?

  5. I love this look. It looks great! I think I would have initially seen them as work attire pants, too, but these are great afternoon out pants.

  9. I love the casual look on you.  You look amazing and the vibe of the whole outfit totally suits you.

I bought a pair of black and white printed pants from H&M, with the intention of wearing it in a more dressed up way with black heels and a black or white blouse.  But then I saw an inspiration photo that totally got me to wear it in a more casual way and with colours I would never thought of.  Here is a pic: http://coverupchic.blogspot.ca/2012/09/casual-fall-attire-burgundy-and-spots.html

  11. I like both outfits. It's nice to have such versitale pieces in your closet. I' want to try the printed pants, but I'm a little afraid it'll draw to much attention to my athletic thighs. Oh well, you only live once, right?!

  12. I think they look great both ways, but I slightly prefer the casual look - I love how they add excitement to a plain white tee.
It's always exciting to find out your clothes are more versatile than you had expected :)

  21. Wow i LOVE the tshirt w/ printed pants!  Looks so effortless. Hmm , my fiance is out of town this weekend, I'll be heading to the mall to find some of those pants! Looks easy to dress them up for work too.

  22. How ironic that when I'm reading your post, I'm wearing printed pants!  I have a pair of tribal-inspired burnt orange and white printed pants and I'm wearing them with a cobalt blue blouse and blue flats.  The pants I own are extremely versatile because many colors/neutrals can complement the pants and they also be easily switched from casual to dressy.

  27. That's a beautiful casual outfit. I like it a lot. The pants seem to be so versatile that they work for running errands at the weekend with a simple top and flats as well as for a meeting at work with heels. I have a neutral pair of pants like the ones you wearing and I dress them up or down, too. When I don't know what to wear, I always turn to them because they go either way.
Very good look for you. I especially like how you accessorized the casual look. :-)

  30. That's so funny! I just picked this pair up on sale for $15!! I was planning on wearing them with my tan ankle boots since Canadian fall weather is cool already. Thanks for a few other options!

  31. OMG, can we just be best friends already? You look amazing! I realize it's just a plain white tee and printed pants, but that's exactly how I would wear them! Love it!

  32. Cropped pants can often make you look shorter, so I would've always gone with heels. Surprised at how much I liked it though! That's the beauty of using inspiration photos - they give ideas to girls like me who aren't that creative!

  33. Funny you mention that - I tend to wear heels with my cropped pants for work.  But on the weekends when I am wearing my cuffed boyfriend jeans...I am wearing flats.  They are both the same length but I think it looks too casual to wear flats with cropped pants at work.

  36. J, I love these pants! (I've seen them on other bloggers too - I like this version with the burgundy sweater as well http://www.weinspire.us/2012/09/burgundy-sweater-with-printed-pants.html )
How do these pants fit? Do you feel like they are TTS? Thank you!

  37. Thanks Lena! H&M is European sizing so I generally wind up with 2-3 sizes bigger than my usual on the bottom. I'm only one size up in these pants though (I got a 4), so for H&M I think they run pretty big!
