Today's Everyday Fashion: Old Navy Runway Show

Last week Old Navy gave out more than 600 free pairs of Rockstar Skinny Jeans in NYC! I was one of 15 bloggers selected to participate in the fun and strut my stuff on a runway in Bryant Park. My experience was much like any other woman who participated that day. You showed up, entered a room FULL of jeans (picture below), and the staff helped you pick out colors and sizes (go 1-2 sizes up, they advised). With jeans in hand, we made our way back to the makeshift fitting rooms to try them on and pick a pair that we liked. I had brought a few different shirts with me (contents of the yellow bag, above), and white was an easy choice to complete my outfit. Jenny McCarthy was there to emcee the event, and hundreds of beautiful women in all shapes and sizes (see mash up picture below) worked the runway, it was fun to watch. I loved the event concept and seeing how much everyone enjoyed their time to shine. What color jeans would you choose? Have you ever walked a runway?

  10. hello. love this and love Bryant Park, such a cool spot in the city.  as far as the fit of these jeans...you mentioned going up 1 or 2 sizes.  did you find this to be true for you?  i typically wear a size 6...so i would feel ( i know its just a label) crazy to buy a size 10!  your thoughts?

  11. What a great event. I particularly love all the smiling faces in your runway walk collage.

Also, thanks for passing on their 'sizing up' tip. I tried on some rockstar jeans recently (in my typical size) and they just didn't look right... time to head back!

  12. All the colors of the jeans are great. I grew up in the 90's where color was everywhere (it was more florescent) and it turned me off for a while. Now i'm loving all the color in jeans. Great fashion show. I would wear any and all colors. I walked a runway in our highschool fashion show. I think I would have been quite nervous walking the runway in New York. You look like you had fun. Love your blog by the way.

    Agi:)

  13. I tried a pair on earlier this week, broke a nail trying to pull them on so I gave up. I'll go back and try a bigger size, I love the yellow cords and the lavender jeans

  16. I just have to say that I don't like the fit or feel of those rock star jeans at all! They are so stiff and fit weird in the bum, thighs for me. I bought a green pair from ON and am so regretting it now. I wish I had invested in a nicer pair that were more comfy. But I did try on the cords yesterday and loved those.... :) How does everyone else feel about them?

  18. I've tried to buy the rockstar jeans so many times, trying on many different sizes and colors, and they never work for me! The fit is so strange and the sizes are very off! I love the way they look, but I am not a fan for myself.

  19. I ove these jeans! Only issue is that they are so SMALL, definitely had to go up a size. But I have the cobalt blue & red ones. I'd really like to get a black pair too (for work). Congrats on strutting the runway!

  24. I also felt that their sizes were off and that after I washed them once, the color was very dingy and full of light spots :(

  25. I love the Rockstars, they are one of my favorite pairs! I just wish they would fix the sizing so that they were the same across all the styles. I have three different sizes in different colors.

You look fab working that runway! What a fun opportunity!

  26. im kind of surprised they didn't make you wear an old navy shirt. weird.

  27. The idea was to throw on the jeans with whatever you were wearing. I can't imagine the chaos of giving out 600 shirts on top of the 600 pairs of jeans they gave out!! It was already a madhouse!

  28. I love the mustard ones too but they didn't have them that day!

  30. Hi J! I am going to buy a pair of red jeans and I was wondering which one you liked better, the Old Navy or the target one you had on a previous post

  31. Do you mean just in terms of fit? (I'm not sure which colors you are referring to.) Old Navy I was in-between sizes so I didn't love how they fit on me. The Target ones fit me better, but I would recommend trying both!

  32. Hi Kemi! I never see my name on blogs lol

  33. I really want to order two pairs of these, but I've heard so much about the sizing being so off that I'm afraid to order online. I don't have a store SUPER close to me, so I need to really be excited about them to make the trip. Although, they do have some cute stuff right now! What a fun opportunity!

  34. AT 5' 4" I have never walked down a runway, though I would if someone asked!!! Which colour would I choose? The green looks great and I don't have any bright green jeans, however will never be able get hold of these as I live in the UK and it's too costly to get them shipped here. The white jeans look awesome on you by the way J! Looks like you had a great time!!!

  35. Looks like fun, I like that there were women of all shapes and sizes walking the runway.  I would be less intiminated to do an event like that.  I just bought some cobalt skinny jeans, so I would probably go burgandy or green.

  36. Do you know how long the jeans will be $19? I really want to get a pair or two.

  37. I wish I knew about this- I go to Bryant Park for lunch almost every day! But last week happened to be the busiest week of the year for me- BOO!

I have a pair of the original colored denim they first came out with years ago and LOVE them. I went to ON a few weeks ago, so excited to get a few of their bazillion different colored jeans and was sooo disspointed when even 3 sizes larger than I usually wear didn't fit! I was bummed :( They need to fix their sizing!!

But anyways, you ROCKED it on the runway!!
