Today's Everyday Fashion: Tribal Shorts x 2

I am lovin' my new tribal shorts. I've bought four pairs of these shorts over the past two summers (2 solids, 2 prints), and the length and the not too casual/not too dressy material is my favorite for its versatility. I first paired them with a boho-inspired look below, but didn't love it and decided the bright colors above were a little more my style. I wore the top look with nude flat sandals for a shopping trip with three adorable clients from Tampa two weeks ago, and the same outfit sans sweater for my trip to Key West this weekend. (I totally repeat outfits.) Are you digging tribal shorts? Which look is your favorite?

  5. What colour nail polish is that on your toes in the bottom photo?? LOVE IT.

  6. I've been sporting the same polish for about a month now - it's neon (glows in a black light) pink! :-) I got it at Target - brand is Sinful Colors Professional, and color is 24/7.

  10. I have a question and this in very unrelated to this outfit.  Its seems we focus a lot on the clothing that everyone sees but in many cases the clothes we wear only look good if we have great undergarmetns to hold us in and up in the right places.  For instance, I have been looking for an amazing strapless bra.  I was wondering if you might be able to do a post (in a delicate way)  that could provide a little help in this department?  THanks in advance!!

  12. Really cute look!  I love the bright colors with these printed shorts - the cardigan brings out the fun purple in the pattern!

  13. Thanks for the suggestion and I totally agree that undergarments are incredibly important! Unfortunately with my own situation of having zero up top, and I haven't shopped for this with any clients yet, I'm not familiar with fit issues up top. I know there are lots of them, but I'm not well-versed enough in this area to write a post about it. Thanks again for the suggestion though. Hopefully someday I will know more on this subject, and/or I might consider having someone do a guest post that is an expert in this area!

  14. J, I have been pinning your outfits like crazy, girl!  I love your blog.  These shirts are perfect.  You are the master at dressing up and re-imagining shorts.  I love it!

    Dossome :)

  15. I like the first look, it's colorful, young and fresh. The way you tucked your shirt into the shorts looks really cool to me. I don't like the second look that much because I'm not a fan of the greenish cardigan. It looks old to me and doesn't quite match the pants, I think. A neutral one would have looked nicer.

  16. I totally agree Mia! It wasn't a win, hence, why I went back and styled the second look! ;-)

  18. Obsessed with the top look! Those colors just go so well together. Idk if I have the guts to wear shorts like that but maybe it's time to step out of my comfort zone for that top look :)

  21. I love both looks but agree, the more colourful is more you and perfect with your lovely skin.  Of course I repeat outfits - I am sure everyone does (I think my mum has a 7 day rotation on outfits and doesn't change them week on week!) but I love that blogging makes us consider new ways to wear old pieces for a new look!

  24. Can you please explain the secret to throwing a bunch of totally unrelated colors on and looking chic?  Whenever I try it, I end up looking like I just escaped from an institution.

  26. I think if I could explain this I would be a very rich woman! LOL. I think it's just like any art though - hard to make "rules" or to generalize. You can say blue and yellow goes together, but at the end of the day, it really depends on the shades and whether they turn out to be the perfect match. Not being able to quantify fashion is both the most frustrating and most liberating thing about it! :-)

  27. I really like tribal print shorts lately as well! I've had my eye on the Gap ones you're wearing - they look great on you!
