Today's Everyday Fashion: Super Casual

If you ever spot me running around town on an "off" day, this is what I'm wearing! It's pretty much just a t-shirt and jeans, and it's certainly just as comfortable - but I still try to have some fun with it by wearing creative color combos and accessories. I wore the top look to the shooting range, and the bottom look to the doctor's office for vaccinations (exciting stuff, right?). I love looks like this for active days and moms-on-the-go. Which pink and purple look is your favorite?

  3. I love your outfits and you seem to find a ton of stuff at this MJR sales place.  I have tried going to their shop a couple of times and it seems like only have things in plus sizes.  Could you do a post on navigating that website and finding something for someone who doesn't wear a size 0 but doesn't wear a size 16...

  6. Oh my goodness, I absolutely LOVE the second look! (The first one is cute, but the second is amazingly wonderful!!)

  7. I like the second one better. I don't think the colors in the first look go together. I'd never wear any of those looks myself because I don't like pink and purple, but the second is is prettier because it's not so bright. It's more settle. Jeans and t-shirt and always a good way to go, though. I like to wear my destroyed cropped jeans and add a cute pair of flats and a nice top that has a little twist.

  8. Very cute!  I go to the range with my husband often and I think this outfit is great for that!  :)  I really like your website and visit it daily since I discovered it!  Thank you!

  9. I like both looks, but prefer the first one - probably because It is something I'd wear myself. I love your sandals. Thank you for posting links to a couple of similar ones. I am ordering the Bandolinos.

  10. I like both looks, but I love the second one with the lavender jeans. So pretty and girly. Of course, I would be more likely to do shorts. It is already too hot for jeans around here. :)

  11. I love the top look, but I also have a special place in my heart for shirts with cut out shoulders <3

  13. I love all the bright colors. I would have to say I like the 1st combination the best. Also, I have to thank you for introducing me to MJRsales, I ordered 6 VS bathing suits for the price of 1 1/2 from the actual VS store. They were described with minor marks, but you are right they definitely over promise! Love them!

  15. Thanks Rach! Yes, I love MJR. Appeals to my crazy frugal side. :-) Here's a link to my post with tips for shopping there: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html

The best way to search? "Womens Clothing" --> Select one of the categories under "Category" --> Then select "(Regular)" under "Size Type." This will hugely narrow down the selection, and it's how I shop and find the best stuff! Also keep in mind that it's hit or miss - I usually quickly browse 6-10 times over the course of 2-4 weeks before finding something to buy! Hope this helps.

  23. I love the lavender jeans... I saw some similar ones at Target, but they were too stretchy for my taste... I am going to check out Kohl's after seeing your finds.

  24. It's really *a.m.a.z.i.n.g.*  what carefully-chosen colors can DO for even the simplest of outfits, J.!!    I was trying to just visualize what EACH of these two outfits would look like with, say, the classic colors of A-White-Tee-Shirt-And-(Indigo-Blue)-Jeans instead............ and it sure seems that the "mood" of each outfit would be totally, TOTALLY different!!

I love the colors of your two outfits here;  and I could also even see you wearing your berry pink, cut-out-shoulder tee (in the first picture)............ with............ your lavender jeans (in the second picture), too!!    Then, IF your Diba/Nordstrom Rack sandals were maybe burnished  *s.i.l.v.e.r.*,  (i.e., instead of tan)............ that combination of colors might even be another pretty outfit!!    (By the way, the Michael Antonio Women's Jennings-Met Sandals in Silver Metallic~~from the link in your 6/12/12 post~~are just  g.o.r.g.e.o.u.s.!!)

  25. I'm so glad you posted this!  I *am* a mom on the go, and I love bright colored skinny jeans and cute t's to wear around town.  There's something about the colors that makes the outfit more "outfit"!  I need to get some pastel jeans - your lavender ones are great. I love how you paired the bright pink top with the pastel jeans.  I never would have thought of that!

  26. I like the more saturated colors of the top outfit, but it's nice to show that jeans and tshirt doesn't have to be an "I give up" kind of option.

  27. What size did you buy in the first top with cut out shoulders??

    ReplyDelete
  28. MJR hardly ever has size XS, so I got a size S. It's pretty big/baggy, but I love big/baggy t-shirts with skinny jeans or shorts, so I dig it! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  29. You totally nailed what I was trying to say with this post - jeans and a t-shirt doesn't have to be boring or look like you gave up! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thanks Rose, and I totally agree! The colors make it an outfit, but it's just as comfy as your usual t-shirt and jeans. A sneaky way to be comfy. ;-)

  31. LOVEEEE pink and purple together :) my favorite colors!

Question, you seems to find some really good deals on MJR Sales.  But when I go to the website, it's not very user friendly, it's overwhelming, and I don't see how you find you find the clothes you do on there.  Everything looks plus size.  And when I do an advance search for specific brands, nothing really comes up.  Is it like finding a needle in a haystack??

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hi Stephanie! Yes, MJR Sales is a treasure hunt. Think of it as thrifting, or shopping at TJ Maxx. You won't always find something, but when you do it's a total gem. I usually browse 6-10 times over the course of 2-4 weeks before finding anything to buy!  Here's a link to my post with a bunch of tips for shopping there: http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2011/03/todays-everyday-fashion-my-new.html

As for searching, I wouldn't look by brand, and make sure you filter out plus size. The best way to search is  "Womens Clothing" --> Select one of the categories under "Category" (like tops, sweaters, whatever you are in the mood for) --> Then select "(Regular)" under "Size Type." This will take out plus size  hugely narrow down the selection, and it's how I shop. Hope this helps!
