Today's Everyday Fashion: Girls Night

I wore this last Saturday for dinner with the girls! This was a quick fashion decision - I got dressed in 5 minutes flat. The shirt looked way funny tucked in, but the shirt untucked was sloppy and boxy, so I turned to my favorite accessory, the belt, to add some curve to the shirt and pull everything together. It almost looks like a layered dress, but I'm glad these are separate pieces that I'll be able to pair with other colors, too. Would you wear lavender and orange together?

Shirt: Forever 21, $12 (in stock)
Skirt: c/o Style by Marina, $39 (sold out)
Belt: Gap, $10 (similar)
Necklaces: c/o Colorblockshop, $36 and H&M, $4 (similar, similar)
Purse: Ann Taylor, $30
Shoes: Chinese Laundry/Piperlime, $34

1. ASOS lavender skirt, $41.42
2. Zappos lavender skirt, $75
3. Topshop lavender skirt, $68

  1. I like this look a lot, the colors go really well together. Surprisingly, even the neon yellow goes with the rest of the outfit. And I'm really glad you went for neutral shoes, to keep it fun and colorful and not over the top. The only thing I would change about this look is the second necklace (the one from H&M) because it doesn't look pretty to me and in my opinion one bright necklace would be enough. Overall, well done. You have a great sense when it comes to outfits with really bold colors. I would never feel comfortable wearing them, although I think they look so great!!

  6. I really LOVE this outfit!  This actually might be one of my favourites on you.  The color combination is to-die-for, and I can't believe you threw it together in 5 minutes.  I don't think I would have thought of that, but will now definitely have to try.  Really love the pops of yellow and blue!

  7. Thanks so much MIa! And you know what, I never thought it about that way, but I agree that I didn't need the second necklace. I really like these necklaces together, but they would look better in a less-busy outfit. Thanks for the idea! :-)

love the lavender and orange together, but not loving the neon yellow with the two. It's a bit bright for me, but I would love to see this combo together with other accents, maybe white?

I love my white skirt, but want to know when is it appropriate to start wearing it and when should I stop?  Is it Easter or Memorial Day?  Labor Day or Halloween?  I live in Texas where it is hot most of the year!

  12. LOVE the fluorescent touches! My favorite trend right now.

  13. It runs pretty big - the S is a bit big on me. The material is so-so (definitely not silk!). The color is almost glowing in person, that is my favorite part! :-)

  14. Is it a white pencil skirt? I live in Florida and wear mine year-round. White shoes are harder, but white bottoms work in pretty much any climate. I used to wear my white skinnies with brown knee-high boots and a navy peacoat in Boston in the snow. :-)

  18. i am so envious of everyone's ability to sport neon so well lately! i need to try it out myself with something safe like a skinny belt or accessories! i love the pairings you've done here with the color combinations and eye-catching belt.

  22. LOVE it! The color looks great on you. I am curious to try Peplum style myself. I love how you make me consider different color options and so the answer to your question is, yes!

  24. Love the lavender and tangerine together--it looks beautiful on you. The blue purse is a nice touch too, but I really am not that crazy about the neon yellow necklaces and belt. It's one vibrant colour to many, in my opinion. But you know, everything looks great on you, so I'm sure it was lovely in person.

  25. Absolutely agree with you Mia! One necklace too many--otherwise, very cute and trendy.

  26. ok- I LOVE this outfit!!!!  Funny I was going to put an outfit together with yellow orange and teal/mint instead of the lavender the other day...all I need is an orange top :)

  27.  p.s. just bought a very similar belt to yours from the limited, though I think they are sold out or have very limited availability

  28. what would you pair if you were going to be in an air conditioned environment?

  29.  p.s.  love the necklace...might email seller on etsy to see if they have more

  30. I actually think orange + lavender is now a must pair for me in the future!

  31. Did you wear a cami under the shirt? I was going to buy it in a different color but it seamed a bit sheer.

    ReplyDelete
  32. No, it's not sheer at all!

  33. I'm not a huge fan of all the neon. I think there may be too many trends going on in one outfit. I think one of the neon necklaces would look great with a blazer and skinny jeans, or that top would like nice with a more neutral skirt.

  37. Love it! Love this blog! Question about what bra you wear with a shirt like this.  My bras seem to limit my outfits. Need one that works!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Thanks Erin! I live in my strapless bra about half the summer! Works with this shirt and tons of others like it.
