This is me on the way to church yesterday! I originally styled this outfit with a H&M bird-print shirt and hot pink shoes (below), but I didn't love it, so I returned the top and started fresh. I found the floral tank on last week's shopping trip, and instantly felt like it would be the perfect thing to complete the look. Sometimes my first attempt doesn't always work out, but my mantra is to try, try again. Have you ever found success after a failed first attempt at an outfit?

It happens all the time to me, sometimes just the change of an item makes the outfit work!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this look!!! Fresh and springy, you nailed it!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, many times. Sometimes I 'put it away' and go back to the outfit with new eyes and ideas days or even weeks later.
ReplyDeleteThink your instinct was right- you new top looks amazing.
Thank you for your wonderful blog and your many advices and looks which help mé get some of the outfits right the second or third time around.

This is probably my favorite outfit of yours! I love love the top and how all the colors work together. I am glad you went with the floral top vs the bird. Great job J!!!
ReplyDeleteLove this outfit. I have that shirt in gray and pink and will be buying more of them.
ReplyDeleteThe flora shirt really is perfect, and it brightens the whole outfit up. A lot of times I'll try three or four combos until I find something I like!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful outfit, matches very well! :)
ReplyDeleteThe floral shirt looks cute.
Yep. Not eveything I post of my blog is a winner. Some days are hits, others are misses, and then there are the in between days. Such is life of a fashion blogger.

i did something almost exactly like that this past week - i was so indecisive on an outfit so i started over and ended up loving it!
ReplyDeleteI love this! So perfect for spring/summertime!
ReplyDeletelove it with the brighter colors in the new shirT!
ReplyDeleteI like both looks really, and your hair looks really good up!

Love it. I work at Old Navy so like, 90% of my closet is from there. ; )
ReplyDeleteOh, this happens to me more often than I'd like to admit! Sometimes changing one thing makes the difference - love that floral tank! :)
ReplyDeleteOhh yes, I like your second take a lot better! I tend to do that fairly often.
ReplyDeleteYou look cuter with your hair tied up :)
ReplyDeleteIt always happens to me! I think something will look great but when I actually try it on I don't love it.
ReplyDeleteThank you J for hosting the In Pink Jewelry Gift Certificate Give away. I won one last week!! I purchased some gorgeous jewels that I will be reviewing on my blog when they come in!!http://michellelivinglifebeautifully.blogspot.com/
The floral shirt is a much better fit!
ReplyDeleteI love how you ended up styling this! That tank pops with the skirt and sweater and looks fresh and very spring-y!
ReplyDeleteI just found this website a few days ago and I just adore it!!
ReplyDeletebeautiful beautiful beautiful colors!

If at first you don't succeed... I preplan my outfits for the week, but sometimes find that what looks good in my head, doesn't necessarily translate in reality. Sometimes it's just changing out one item, but it can also be a complete restart. I love the floral tank. Got to get me one.
ReplyDeleteThis skirt is such a pretty color.

I like that you wore your hair in a bun, it looks darker when it is up. Are you doing an ombre look? ! I def think that the blue and mustard colors look fab on you :)
ReplyDeleteI love your second choice shirt so much better! The bright spring colors really pop!
ReplyDeleteHi J, Just had to decide between and coral or blue pencil skirt...went with coral. Do you think this featured shirt would go and if so, what cardi would you pair with it instead? Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteRenee, the floral tank looks great with coral - in fact, I may just have to wear it with my coral blazer! For a cardigan, I think you have tons of options since the shirt has so many colors. You could do many different shades of yellow, blue or green!
ReplyDeleteThank you! It looks darker because it is darker. (I just went to the salon.) I'm growing out my highlights! The dark always washes out after a couple months so it will likely be ombre soon.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice. Your second outfit is much more springy and fun.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! This is my favorite outfit of yours and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to recreate it. :) I am totally getting that ON shirt (also in the blue print-- so pretty). The second try was much better... the colors just look lovely together.
ReplyDeleteAwesome job J!!!
I have that shirt and I love it!
ReplyDeleteI love that skirt on you - it's so versatile!!

YES! Oddly enough, this is the theme of my blog today! Even though all I did was swap a cardigan for a v-neck sweater in the same color, it made a world of difference! Sometimes the improvements are intentional, but sometimes they're accidental. Both are win-win situations, if you ask me!

Wow! How perfect. That looks lovely! Even better (for me), I own that ON shirt, that H&M skirt and a bright yellow belt. You've inspired me. As for trying again, yes. All the time.
ReplyDeleteGood call on the switch. I think with the first outfit, there wasn't much cohesion between the primarily blue/yellow colors. The second attempt's tank really pulls together the look :)
ReplyDeleteI just love how you restyled this outfit. I had to go to Old Navy and get that super cute tank yesterday. Love your blog
ReplyDeletethanks J!!! this is so awesome, I was just picturing in my mind 2 days ago a cute blue skirt like this...now I know where to start looking! Thanks for saving me some time xoxo
ReplyDeletep.s. I love your church outfit!!! I want to copy it too!
