Today's Everyday Fashion: Paisley

This is what I wore yesterday for errands and to the Central Florida Lady Bloggers meet-up! I think inspiration photos must creep into my subconscious because I put together this outfit, and then later found the Vogue picture hiding in my inspiration folder. I have more than a thousand images saved, but my outfit is so similar I think it's safe to say my brain copied without even realizing it! I'm really picky about prints, but this paisley won me over immediately and I love wearing big, billowy blouses to balance out shorter hemlines when it's hot. Are you a fan of paisley/would you wear this look?

  1. This is the first time I have posted a comment, but I love your blog.  You have inspired me, as a mother, to get out of the jogging pants and into something cute.  I love this outfit and would totally rock it... if I had your legs!  HA!  Seriously though, thanks for the inspiration and I look forward to your posts!

Any ideas where to find yellow pants in that shade?  I have been on the hunt and am not having much luck.  Happy weekend!!!

  11. Molly, I have printed shorts from last summer that I've been wearing a lot this spring! Gap has tons of cute ones (including paisley) right now too.

  12. I tried on that dress! (It has long sleeves?) It was so oddly short, I thought maybe it was meant to be a tunic or a top? Let me know how it goes!

  14. I love the shirt, but for some reason I'm not feeling the shorts..it isn't the color (I like the yellow), but they just feel too short when looking at the picture (not hoochie-mamma short, just not-working-with-the-top short). I could see it with a skirt or yellow skinny jeans though

  15. J - I have a question about your inspiration photos. Are most of them found online or do you take pics from magazines, etc. as well?

  21. You really-really-*really*  R.O.C.K.  very TRADITIONAL prints, (i.e., with their long and extraordinarily-rich Textile History!!)............ like your big, billowy  *P.A.I.S.L.E.Y.*  print blouse here............ and also your beautiful  *I.K.A.T.*  print skirt in your recent post of 4/24/12,
    (i.e.,  http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/04/todays-everyday-fashion-repeat-shopping.html  ;  plus--with your IKAT print skirt--in your previous posts of 8/8/11 and 11/7/11), too!!

What you've done, J., with this traditional PAISLEY print is to keep it wonderfully  *A.L.I.V.E.*----(and rockin', haha!!)----in the 21st century BY............ pairing it with very contemporary, on-trend pieces, e.g., like your lemon-drop-colored, raw-edged Denim Shorts;  and your Platform Sandals with their 1" covered platforms, 4½" glazed cork heels, and back zippers!!

As other Commenters have noted, this PAISLEY-centered look could very easily be adapted with denim-yellow jeans, or with a denim-yellow pencil skirt.    It's such a *cheery and memorable* Casual Outfit, which is honestly both............ very  R.I.C.H.  in Textile History, J. ............ and also just So-Right-Now-F.A.S.H.I.O.N.A.B.L.E., too!!

  22. I just love the striking way in which you've combined the *traditional* PAISLEY print of your big, billowy blouse with............ the *contemporary, on-trend* style of your lemon-drop yellow, raw-edged Denim Shorts............ and your Platform Sandals with their 4½" glazed cork heels, 1" covered platforms, and back zippers!!

The other *traditional* print which you've also SO beautifully styled for "everyday fashion now," J., is your IKAT print skirt, too, (i.e., most recently on 4/24/12,   http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2012/04/todays-everyday-fashion-repeat-shopping.html  ;  and~~for your IKAT print skirt~~additionally on 8/8/11 and 11/7/11)!!

When you intentionally center an outfit around a *traditional* print----(e.g., like a PAISLEY print or an IKAT print)----it almost seems as if you're keeping that individual print's long, extraordinarily-*R.I.C.H.*  Textile HISTORY............ *alive*............ (and genuinely *wearable*!!)............ for all of us............ in the 21st century!!    It indeed takes an artistic mind AND stylistic skill to do that *well*;  and you certainly have............ B.O.T.H.  the artistic mind, *and* the stylistic skill, too, J.!!
