Today's Everyday Fashion: The Bridal Shower

Yesterday I had the pleasure of celebrating my friend Ashley's upcoming nuptials at her bridal shower. It was so much fun meeting her family and co-workers (I met Ashley back in the day from this post), and I volunteered myself as unofficial photographer (including a group shot using a self-timer, where I somehow managed to look like a giant). I wore this hot little chevron number I recently picked up at Modern Vintage Boutique (Ashley was wearing chevron too!). My nude pumps match the nude stripe in the dress, and I wanted to add more yellow with my belt and cardigan. It was love at first sight when I spotted this dress online and I'm excited to finally have something chevron in my closet! What do you typically wear to bridal showers? Have you tried chevron yet?

  1.  What a cute summer dress! I grew up watching my Mom dress up for these events, so even though most of my group just wears jeans to showers, I always make an effort to find balance between what the other invitees will be wearing and what I find appropriate. Usually dressy jeans and a pretty printed top.

  3. I love this look and am green with envy that it sold out in the white before I discovered it. You have the best taste.

  4. These colors are perfect together! I've been looking for the right chevron to incorporate into my wardrobe, so this is a great option :)

I love that the girl on the far right is mixing prints! Cute!

I also have 'giant in the photo' syndrome. Except my issue isn't height, it's head. My head always looks ginormous in photos and no matter how far back I lean, there is the head.

  5. Thanks Britt! The girl on the far right is Ashley's sister. She is actually wearing a dress, and it's from Macy's! :-)

  6. Thanks Lora! I usually try to order things that have plenty in stock so you guys have the chance to order too. I actually snapped up the last white one though - couldn't resist, I fell in love with it! ;-)

  7. Thanks Becca! A couple girls had on pants and printed tops - they are in the back row so unfortunately you can't see their (adorable) outfits.

  10. What a great dress! I see from the comments that it's sold out so I'm going to do some window shopping online for a similar fabric, I see a sewing project in my future!

  11. Very cute dress. I have been looking for a striped skirt... but I never thought of chevron.. you've given me something new to think about. When I was reading through the comments, Meghan asked about your friends blue chevron stripe dress. I noticed something similar on the site you site you mentioned the other day ( the little boutique you got your blue shoes at) The dress is a little different style.. but has the stripes. Sorry I don't have the link.

  12. What a fantastic dress!  I haven't bought anything chevron yet, but would like to incorporate a top or skirt into my wardrobe. And showers I generally go the sundress/cardi route.

  15. I just found your blog today via pinterst, and I.am.in.love!!! There are several other fashionesk blogs I read, but I don't get much inspiration from them because they are too over the top or the clothes they wear are really expensive. Your blog is perfect! You are super fashionable yet reasonably and accessibly so. THANK YOU!

  16. Love that you love dresses!!! You look pretty and colorful! This style design is a bit young for me, but a solid and tad longer length, for sure would enjoy wearing!!! Keep up the good work! The bride is very pretty too. Hope you post pictures of the event!

  27. What a cute dress! I'm kind of obsessed with chevrons (blame Missoni for Target) and have been looking for a cute chevron dress like this. I bought the Missoni carry-on and get so excited to use it on trips.

  31. When I clicked on the link this afternoon it looks like it's still in stock?  Assuming it is, can you please tell me if you ordered the small or medium?  If you ordered a small, would you consider yourself a size 2 or 4?  I'm a 4 and debating between getting the small of medium.  Thanks!

  32. It might be back in stock! I'm a size 2 and I got the Small, it fits perfect!

  36. Any tips on a slip/lining for it?  Got it today and pretty bummed about how thin and cheap it is. Bad packaging too, came totally wrinkled and they didn't include an invoice or even correctly address it to me (it was floating around my office building and our poor mail guy was asking every female here who it belonged to because they just addressed it to my company name).  And silly me just saw on their website they don't do refunds for returns, just store credit. Yuck, hoping they make an exception due to the poor customer service. Thanks!

  37. Kelly, are we talking about the same company and dress?! I don't think it's see-through at all! Are you wanting to return it b/c of that, or b/c you are upset about the address?

    ReplyDelete
  38. hello! can you tell me what brand your dress is? i'm looking for a dress with the same pattern, but different style and haven't been able to find it (or what brand it is) anywhere. the little boutique i was wanting to order from is sold out, so i'm hoping to find it elsewhere.

    thanks!

  39. Holly, the tag says Eunishop. I've been seeing this print all over the boutique world, but not this exact dress. I hope this helps, good luck!
