Today's Everyday Fashion: Blue-Green

I originally set out to re-create this inspiration from head to toe. The skirt and shirt were the same color, and I had my orange purse and black pumps ready to go. But as soon as I put on the shirt and skirt, I knew I wanted to go a different direction. I started digging for more blue-green in my closet - the shoes are almost an exact match, and the green belt and purse felt like the perfect finishing touches. I love office looks like these that show you can be appropriate (skirt to your knees, no cleavage or small straps up top) and yet fun and colorful at the same time. Would you wear this to work?

  1. I love the colorblocking combined with the tone-on-tone purse and belt!  And those shoes could not be more perfect to tie the outfit together!  I would definitely wear this to work - we don't really have a dress code at the university, and it's not an environment where I'd be worried about bright colors being distracting.  The one thing I am careful about is skirt length, and that one is perfect - cute and modest at the same time.

  3. Yes, I would. I really love the color blocking with blue & green (I'm not totally sold on the pink and red combo- too Valentine's Day for my I guess). I love the direction you went with it and carried it head to toe vs added more colors. I have this great blue python clutch from Banana Republic that would look great with this look- thanks for the inspiration!!!

  9. Ooh, I love this for work!  It is a perfect way to tie in color blocking, but still work appropriate!  I think for me personally, I would add some black with a belt and shoes just because I love black with bright colors!  Your shoes really are almost exact with this outfit, which is really great!  xx

  13. Your outfit with the fun shoes is way better than the inspiration photo with the black shoes!  I would totally wear this to work in the summer.

  15. Your version looks better and I especially love the kelly green clutch with the lime skirt -- I would never have put those together on my own.  My 6 yo son looked at these and said your "dress" was really pretty, but that he prefers the darker version since yours is "a little on the bright side" and my 4 yo son said that the orange & blue bag in the inspiration picture was really cool and that he wanted it for me. :)  Thought I'd share (hope it makes you smile) how much you are helping to teach my little men and me about creative style.

  16. I love that the shades of green are slightly different from each other...so they don't match, but they "go".  Very fun mix of colors! :)

  20. I teach Kindergarten, and I've actually worn that color combination to work. It was our St. Patty's day, and it was wickedly hot outside. It was such a fun look though. I love your look!

  24. This post is actually a little timely! Tomorrow (April 20th) is National Donate Life Blue and Green Day! Donate Life America is actually hosting a contest on Facebook and I think you should enter!

    Check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/events/372689076108749/

I do love this outfit, though, and am mildly obsessed with pencil skirts this season!

  28. 'Just love your electric-blue-and-lime-green outfit, as I did another *gorgeous* combination of these two colors, which you had previously paired together............ (i.e.,  http://www.jseverydayfashion.com/2010/06/satc2.html  )!!

In another Reader's Comment, "Molly" had so kindly noted that today (April 20th) is THE FIRST "National Donate Life Blue and Green Day";  and I can certainly see WHY blue and green are............ the colors of  *H.O.P.E.*, too, because they're the "Water" and the "Earth"............ (i.e., of Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water)!!    Thanks to Molly for the genuinely-inspiring/*very-VERY-touching* link!!

Lastly, I also super-enjoyed reading/watching each of your #5 links, Above----thank you so much for posting them, too!!    In the Consumer Retail Network link, "Lesson eight: Be nice" is (in my opinion) one of the PRIMARY reasons............ (i.e., in addition to, as Paige Goodwin noted, your "Bringing The Fashion World Back To REALITY," haha!!)............ that you're now being interviewed, J., by those of note in Fashion even  o.v.e.r.s.e.a.s.,  (e.g., like in *IRELAND*!!)............ so "Welcome!!" here............ TO all the lovely ladies of Ireland, as well!!
