Today's Everyday Fashion: The Skull Scarf

When I visited Europe in September I saw skull scarves everywhere! I picked mine up a few months back, however, I have yet to wear it. I credit this inspiration photo for pushing me to finally give it a try. Another idea I loved: wearing taupe/gray pumps with my camel pants, which is something I'm not sure I would have thought of myself! The skull scarf trend: do you say yay or nay?

  1. I've been following your blog for a while now but I've never made a comment and thought I would start now. I like the skull scarf. I think it brings a welcome 'unexpected' to the outfit. I'm going on another trip to Europe in May and I may pick one up for myself.

  3. first off, i'm new to your blog, and i LOVE all of your outfits.  i'm not one to naturally be gifted at fashion, so your ideas help me out.  this particular outfit is way cute.  i love the skinny jeans with the pumps and bright top.  i'm not so much of a fan of the skull scarf, but that's just me.  i've never really been big on the skull look.

  4. Hi there!  One of your newer followers here, too, and this blog absolutely made my week.  You really have a gift for fashion (and making it affordable!) and making looks accessible that I normally wouldn't ever try.  The scarf is great, and love the contrast with the brights on the top and the natural colors on the bottom.

  5. I love skull scarves!  I wanted to buy a McQueen one right after he passed away when I was in Vegas on my honeymoon, but I just couldn't bring myself to spend that kind of money!  Yours is so pretty and such an amazingly cheaper alternative!  Maybe I will go your route now!  Have a great weekend, J!  xx

  12.  Hmmmm, the skull scarf is not doing it for me.  It reminds me too much of the college students I see every day.  Although, it is a fun way to add some funkiness to an outfit.

  15. You know, you look lovely in your pink and camel-coloured outfit (as usual) but, in my opinion, I find that skull-ware reminds me too much of 15 year olds trouping around the mall. Just my opinion:)

  16. I love taupe and pink. Looks like you found a good alternative to pricey Alexander McQueen skull scarves.

  18.  I just love-LOVE-*L.*O.*V.*E.* your gorgeous light-and-dark-Camel + Pink Outfit, (with your taupe/gray pumps!!), J., but............ I just can't seem to get "on-board" with skull-print scarves, though!!

Although I know that all of those in the healthcare field certainly don't feel as I (personally) do, it MIGHT (haha!!) possibly have something to do with my being a nurse, because I just intellectually "associate" skulls WITH pain/suffering/death~~~(and, in my career, I've taken care of those who *are* indeed suffering in extreme pain;  and/or those who *are* actually dying, you know)~~~so, only to me, skull-prints seem to be on The Opposite Side Of The Page............ i.e., away from happy/hopeful/optimistic............ even if the skulls ARE more-or-less "smiling," (haha)!!    ('Sure hope my explanation doesn't come-off as being intolerant of others' personal fashion choices, J., because that honestly isn't my intention here, at all, you know!!)

  23. I loooove Saucy Glossie's blog (your inspiration photo).  She is the best at putting together neutrals - very classy.

I am wearing my skull scarf today also!  My in-laws got me a McQueen scarf for Christmas, and I love it so much.  It's so feminine and girly that you can't even tell it is skulls without looking very closely.  It's surprisingly office-friendly!

  24. No way! Are you sure that is her? I've seen that blog before but was 99% sure this was a fashion editor, and I definitely got the photo from Refinery29.

And totally jealous of your McQueen scarf! :-)
