Today's Everyday Fashion: Skirting the Issue

I love the idea of pairing your brights with all-black so you can wear them in the winter! I was inspired by Kristen Bell to give it a try myself. I love this look for a cold night out, or even to wear to work (this skirt is a tad short, but the tights make it more appropriate and could work for many jobs). Is a pop of color in an all-black ensemble a look that you would wear?

  1. This is a great look.  I would definitely wear it to work for a fun punch of color.  Loving that LOFT skirt you feature at the bottom!

  2. It's not just something I would wear-- It's something I actually do wear!
Random question: if you want to do leopard accessories, is there a number to limit it to? Leopard flats, leopard belt, and leopard scarf seems like it might be too much, but even taking the belt out of the equation doesn't seem to help. What do you think?

  4. I own that skirt, too! I did something similar in my first month of blogging (before my digital camera):

  5. I have a similar skirt from jcrew that I'm going to wear like this.  I just pinned a similar look but it had that jcrew turquoise bubble bib necklace as a 2nd pop of color.

  6. This sort of combo is my go-to when I'm feeling uninspired in the morning! And it's one of the only ways I feel somewhat fashionable even if I'm wearing boring black dress pants. I usually throw on a bright top with a cute black sweater and pants.

  9. Kate, I think I would stick with two pieces? It's really tough to make fashion "rules" b/c I guarantee someone could find a way to do 3 pieces and look adorable. :-) But of the 3 pieces you described I would probably just pick two!

  27. I absolutely love this. I have a bright purple/fuschia skirt that I've styled similarly, but I've always thought it was a tad too short for the workplace. I don't know why I've never thought to pair black tights with it to make it more appropriate.

  28. Great style. Yes, I definitely wear that. Pink and black just go well together in any occasion and place. I love your tights too.:)
